What is the best kind of candy to buy so that trick or treaters like your house better than the neighbor's?

Are holidays really this competitive?

So I do think a part of it is the candy but it's also the ambiance of your house! And how approachable you are when handing out candy! And kids like choices, so, get a big bowl and let them choose--have everything, fruity, sour, chocolate, just stay away from those strawberry looking hard candies and the black and orange paper wrapped...taffy...peanut things. :)

So that sounds a lot more complicated than what I figured trick or treating entailed. I mean I didn't figure on being off putting while handing out candy or anything, I just want to contribute to the kids having a good night.

Nah, it's not! Just like, comment on what they're wearing, whatever! Honestly, if you're trying to be friendly, you probably are. :)

Not something we had back home but I enjoy that it makes the children happy. Hard not to clean the bowl out sometimes myself though.

...what store sells those? 'cause I'm just seeing small ones in bags.

Any of them. The full-sized bars would just not be in the same aisle as the Halloween candy bags.

That would explain it. I'm going to have to go on the hunt for some candy bars.

Are you trying to have his compete to be the best house on Halloween?

Maybe. One of the neighbors is acting like the best on the block. I don't want him resting easy and unchallenged.

You mean when OUR house is very nicely decorated? That's rude.

I think they believe bigger and flashier is better.

Not classy at all.

I'm still learning about the holiday but it don't seem much like a lot of 'class' involved in it? Though we are more, what do you call it, understated? It's nice looking.

It can be classy. Just look at the Addams Family!
