Okay so maybe these are really obviously and dumb questions, but how do people pick majors? How do you decide what you want to do with the rest of your life? And how do you do that here? With all the inpredictability, how do you figure that out in Vallo? How do you plan for that?

Kind of related, is anyone hiring? I think maybe a gap summer or something might help. Or it won't. Maybe I'm just destined to be Maybe. Why does no one tell you being an adult is so hard? Or am I just really bad at everything? Can't con Can't hurt, right?

What'd you have? And yeah that seems to be a common answer even with the internet. Which I get. Makes sense. Don't do something you don't like or you'll really hate it and be miserable.

My normal has definitely been pretty random at home, but I think it happening at school where there's still stuff you have to do every day because it's school and then before that being younger and having a different grasp on everything because when you're younger people generally direct you but also protect you versus being here and being An Adult is part of where I'm at. Because they are two way different things really.

I really love photography, so I went to school for an art major. I didn't end up finishing though. Mostly because of exactly what you talked about: having to be an adult when I wasn't ready.

When I was in college, a lot of the kids in my dorm had no clue what they wanted to do. Some of them were undeclared for the first year while they got their core classes out of the way and figured some shit out.

That's cool. Not the part where you weren't able to finish. Are you trying to do that here?

I guess it's nice to know there are others who just don't know either.

To be honest, I haven't ever thought about it. After my grandparents died and I had to deal with all that, going back wasn't possible and I guess it just wasn't as important to me. I was able to travel and support myself without the degree so I didn't really think about it.

To be fair, I think there are those who don't know for a good chunk of their lives. Besides, you can always change your mind later.

Makes sense. Glad you were able to travel and stuff at least. That's always nice.

If Josie comes back, I might not Yeah I guess people reinvent themselves all the time.

It kinda was nice. I didn't do any traveling as a kid. Once I started I found I kinda liked it. Plus, I've done some interesting things. Met interesting people.

That's all part of the experience, I think. Time passes, people change. It's one of the few things that stays consistent which is ironic when you think about it.

Traveling can be fun. Where'd you go and what sorts of interesting things?

I get what you mean even if I have a bit of a headache and don't want to think about the irony of it all on top of everything else. But I'm not a stranger to changing and trying. It's just that this has that whole Weight Of Importance to it.

I went to California and, uh, well, the place I ended up in was a little like here. Things happened pretty regularly. I got my heart stolen once.

I understand that. Do you want to go to college, or do you think you have to?

Like literally?

Probably both.

They called it my heart, but I think it'd have been more accurate to call it my soul, or wherever people keep their emotions.

I think it's harder to stay focused and choose a major when you think you have to. That's a lot of pressure to put on yourself.

Sounds like a lot to deal with.

Maybe it's capitalism and baby boomers and all that at work telling you you have to and your worth is dependent on this stuff. So there's pressure from everywhere.

It was once I got my heart back. A lot of it I more or less packed away.

None of that makes figuring out what you want to do any easier. Are you just starting college now?
