The fancy ones with a computer chip can be significantly damaged if you hotwire and then you'll have to rewire it completely afterward to keep it running. That can run you a few grand.

But older ones like this one are a lot cheaper to hotwire and keep them running after. Anyway, I wouldn't suggest it if Tal hadn't done this before with it and wouldn't follow through if he called a stop on it.
