Thank you for those who have been helping me settle in. While it's certainly an unusual place (skipping down the street for half an hour was not something I wanted to do but I do suppose it could have been a lot worse.

Also, to those asking no I am not going to go to school. I am eighteen and education is not something I have ever enjoyed. I am looking for thins to do with my time though.

The Corp is the Aeiral Corps, made up of Dragon Riders part of the military.

Temeraire is a dragon from home who I served with!

Is there anything you'd wish to pursue now that you're here? There are always spots on the defense teams, if you'd care to join them, but if you wish to follow a different path, then I hope wholeheartedly that you will.

I've gone to a couple of the hand to hand combat classes but not anything else yet. I am still trying to decide what I should do. What other ones are there that you know of?

Just about anything you could imagine, I think. Women aren't restricted in the type of work they can pursue here, as they are back home.

Please feel free to take your time to explore your options, should you wish it. I can provide a stipend while you decide so you'll not feel pressure financially, if you wish.

I was never good at spelling or grammar either, you must remember that. I picked up the other languages because I had to not because I wanted too.

Well, that is where technology can be very helpful. There is such thing as a spelling check.

Besides, if you are going to be a captain some day you will have to study some military strategy, at least. I am sure you cannot learn everything by circumstance alone.

It is not different at all! Anything you learn is education. And you can learn about all kinds of strategy here, from throughout the centuries, not only our own.
