My sense of direction has been questionable at times, but I didn't think it was possible to have landed so far off from my intended destination. Fortunately, I did not have to wander too long before I was greeted by a delightful young man who informed me of the situation I find myself in and even helped me find lodgings for the foreseeable future.

This place seems as good as any for a fresh start.

Are you happy here? I would consider that a fair judge of how it is working out for you.

I wonder how many other gifts you have that you would share with someone like me.

Yes and no. It's complicated. I don't like not being able to leave or go anywhere.

Maybe you'll find out. Someone like you? Explain.

I have found that life itself is complicated. But that is what keeps it interesting after all these years.

I simply meant someone like me as opposed to someone who is not me. But I would very much like to find out.

You're right, it is. As for keeping interesting? Maybe some.

That doesn't tell me anything. Would you? Well, I'm a fantastic mixologist. Famous for my drinks. Perhaps we can meet and I'll make you your favorite drink.

Only some?

I don't think I've ever heard the term 'mixologist' before, I take it that is what bartenders are called now? I have learned that I am a bit out of my own time. I'm not sure how far out of it though.

One can only deal with shit for so long before it becomes too much.

No, it's not what they call them now. It's just a term some use for bartender. Aren't we all.

It would depend on what exactly one is dealing with I suppose.

I have never heard that term before now. I think I like it, but unfortunately that skill is lost on me. I don't drink.

I would say that's true. My bullshit level runs on the low end though.

The word first appeared in 1856, but didn't become common. Then in the 1980's a man named Dale DeGroff, was researching 19th-century bartending for his bar program at The Rainbow Room. He believed the word was a good fit for the grandeur and showmanship the bar would embody. Basically he wanted a fancy word for bartender.

You don't drink? For shame. Surely you eat. I'm fantastic cook. A welcome to Vallo meal. You can meet my sub and boyfriend, Quentin.

Different people, different tolerances.

It does sound fancy. I think I like that word much better than bartender.

I have become too accustomed to people knowing who and what I am. Vampires don't eat or drink. But thank you for the offer.
