I know things might be off at the moment, but spring is in full force, and our spring menu at Galdin Quay has been updated to reflect that.

I'm accepting taste testers for the summer recipes I've been putting together. If you would like to be one of eight (not counting my partners, they are biased and eat anything I put in front of them) for taste testing in May, please sign up here by listing your favorite food (I'm looking for a variety of taste palates).

There is always at least one vegetarian option for each course, but summer's focus will be on fresh, bright flavors and it involves a great deal of fish, fruits, and vegetables.

Picky eaters welcome, I relish the challenge.

Oh, yes please. This menus is impressive. I tend to like most fish because they were harder to get growing up, and I'm fond of tropical fruit.

Have you had a chance to compare the fruit of your world to what's here? We had quite a few food differences that I had to adjust to when cooking off the bat.

There are some differences, but I'm open to trying new things. Do you do wine pairings with your meals?

I always have suggestions for those that appreciate a good glass of wine. We have quite the selection. I find RosΓ© goes well with spring meals.

Excellent. Is this a come alone thing or would a date need to be one of the eight slots?

Whoa. I don't even know what half the stuff on that menu is.

Would you like a preview of anything? I'm not sure if you noticed, but I enjoy feeding people.

I like kombucha so maybe that one? What's your favorite?

Panzanella is always a good choice. I also suggest the butternut ravioli, I make the pasta from scratch.

What's a butternut Ok. Then I wanna try those. Everything you've made has been ridiculously good, like I'm pretty sure this is all a freaky hallucination cause food doesn't actually taste like that good.

Yes, please! I'd love to be a taste tester. I don't like fish, but I'm good with most other seafood. My favorite foods; steak, shrimp, lobster, grilled cheese, chicken pasta Alfredo, Ravioli, really any kind of pasta. Pizza, the homemade kind being the best, pasta salad (lovelovelove), bruschetta, chicken in all it's many different ways of preparing it, salad (Caesar, Greek and garden among my faves), smoked sausage, chili, potato soup. I'll stop here. lol

That's quite the list. If you had to pick just one thing on it that sets above the others, what would you pick?

Definitely pasta. If there was a job for taste testing pasta I'd apply in a heartbeat.

I'm afraid I can't offer payment, merely a free meal. But it sounds as if I can try my pastas on you without much complaint, at least.

Oh, I know you're not offering payment. I was just saying if there was such a job I'd be all over it. Yes, you can definitely count on me to try any pasta dishes.

I wouldn't be surprised if someone out there offered that. We had royal taste testers at the palace when the prince was younger and that paid well, but came with the risk of poisoning. My food is poison-free.

There have been royals through history who have had them where I'm from. I'm sure somewhere there are still places that have them. In that case I wouldn't want such a job. Haha I'm sure your food is poison free. I've dined there before.

If we've been friends and now even roomies this long and you don't know my favorites, it's not on me, sir!

But now you've challenged me so I need to quickly go on a taste journey to come up with a surprise.

Oh come now, as if I've disappointed you that badly. I do encourage taste journeys, however. There's a new gelato place I'd like to try soon.

No one said anything about disappointment, though there'd be plenty if you didn't already know. So now I need to find a new favorite. Which could be gelato.

I've just been glad you have better taste than your brother's cup noodles. I'm always happy to make dumplings, though now I do want to try that gelato.

Peanut butter and marshmallow sandwich. Not a fluffernutter. A fluffernutter includes Marshmallow Fluff.

The large marshmallows or the mini ones? This feels unbearably messy to me.

The normal sized ones. Although a case could be made for a large one covering more surface area with less potential for losing a marshmallow. And the small ones could make an interesting ratio as well. I may have to try both at some point. They do require a certain level of skill to balance, but you could put peanut butter on both slices to attempt to keep the marshmallows from moving too much more.

I can honestly say that one may be the most unique choice. Is it your ag They do make those flatter marshmallows for s'mores.

I'm afraid I'm not familiar with New Orleans, but I have heard of gumbo. Do you like it as spicy as humanly possible?

It's okay. Not everyone does. I mean, yes. I don't know why I wouldn't. Not everyone feels the same, but that's okay.

Somewhere, a French chef wakes up in a cold sweat. Roasted foie gras? Sacrilege.

I'm very tempted by your dessert selection. Don't think I've ever had a kumquat panettone.

I'm afraid I'll be unable to attend this taste testing, though I'll certainly be there in spirit; I hope that in time I may be able to come to dine at Galdin Quay with Lan Huan to try the new menu.
