I have spoken with several of you now but had not introduced myself here.

Lan Mandragoran. I am not used to settling in one place for any long amount of time, but the potential to stay here for months, if not years, so I believe settling might be inevitable. I am a Warder in our world, to Moiraine Sedai, who arrived shortly after I did; if I may be of use to your defense teams, I will put my skills to their use.

May I ask how many of you had to adjust to all of this technology? I still find the phone unwieldy and temperamental.

I am a swordsman as well, but I've found that it does not like to listen to me at times. Perhaps there is a trick to it.

I find it works best if I treat the device like a particularly stupid knight recruit. Give it very specific instructions, one step at a time, and do not be surprised when it does precisely what you tell it to rather than what any sensible person would understand that you wanted it to do.

I have met my fair share of stupid people, especially on the battlefield, I do not know if I have the fortitude to put up with it in an electronic device but I shall carry on.

I admit I'm not entirely delighted with it, either. However, the speed and specificity of communication is better than anything I've seen in the world I came here from, and there is something to be said for that.

You say you're a swordsman - two-hander or one-and-shield?

I have noticed that. Far superior to the whispers of ravens spread through the country. The Waypoints here are less dangerous than our own as well.

No shield, my sword can be welded either by one hand or two, it depends on what kind of fight I'm in. And you?

Magical travel is dodgy in my home world, as well. Conventional wisdom is that it would take more power than even a whole Circle of Magi could come up with unless they were backed by an ocean of blood or lyrium. And then there are the eluvians, but the magic to work those properly has been forgotten for centuries, and there's no telling where you might step out if you step into one.

I'm mostly sword-and-board. I can manage a broadsword well enough, but I'm better suited for defense than crushing skulls. And I'm just competent enough with daggers to wield a pair in a pinch or throw them at a target for a party trick, but they've never been my favorite.

Aside from the traditional means of traveling on foot, we have the Ways, but they are not accessible by everyone, and can be extremely dangerous to travel through. Waypoints seem far easier.

My sword is much lighter than a broadsword, but I have been trained to use a number of blades and weaponry, depending on what is in reach. I like a lighter hand in things.

They're certainly easier than anything I've come across before, and a damned sight more comfortable than boats.

I'd be up for a round of sparring sometime soon, if you are. I always like seeing the variances in technique that come with different styles and weapons, and it's good practice.

Yes, though I avoid the sea as much as possible, but there have been times where it is unfortunately unavoidable.

Do they have a good training grounds here? I am normally one to train with my fellow Warders but obviously, that is out of the question.

I do the same, and the times it was unavoidable are among my least favorite memories. Waypoints are by comparison splendid.

Several, of varying sorts. Most any terrain, hazards, or type of training you want to work with, they have a spot for it. Watching others is good entertainment, too - I've never seen such variety in weapons, styles, and magic before.
