Vax had met other followers of the Raven Queen, of course. He had been to Vasselheim, where he'd visited the Raven's Crest in the Duskmeadow District. He had met the priests and priestesses there, but if he hadn't spent nearly as much time with them as Pike had with those at her own temple to Sarenrae. They had all known him as their goddesses champion, making him something a bit other. He also knew that he hadn't necessarily chosen this path; he had made a choice, but it had led him in an unexpected direction -- toward a lifetime, and most likely beyond, serving the Matron of Ravens.
Not that he regretted said choice, of course. Every time he heard Vex'ahlia laugh or tease him or he watched her ruffle Velora's hair, he knew he had made the exact right choice.
Still, it had meant that he'd walked into his worship and reverance for the goddess in an unconventional way. Vax was here now, though. He felt enough of a connection to the Raven Queen that he had embraced his role, even having the knowledge that the gods as they knew them in Exandria didn't necessarily exist in Vallo. It hadn't stopped him from praying and trying to commune with her, though. Did his words reach her in another world? He didn't know, but he did know that they brought him a great deal of peace and that meant an awful lot.
And, he thought, it would be nice to have someone else to share that faith with, even if it someone that he didn't know very well, like Eadwulf. Vax had been listening when Caleb had explained who the new arrival from Exandria was. He knew that a certain level of wariness was perhaps warranted, but Vax had laid the foundation of friendliness before he had known any of that. He didn't know what Eadwulf might do with his new life in Vallo, but he thought it couldn't help to continue to be friendly -- and, if he was being entirely honest, to use that friendliness as a way to keep an eye on the man as he got acclimated.
Now, though, he sat on the top step that led to the door of Greyskull Keep, leaning back on his hands as he waited for Eadwulf's arrival and watched the sun start to dip toward the horizon. It was summer, so it would be a few hours until it was completely dark, but Vax didn't spend as much time outside as he might like. Dressed in his armor as usual, complete with his belt and daggers slung around his hip, the all black facade was perhaps not conducive to having the sun beat down on him, but it felt good in that moment.
