As Eadwulf approached, Vax pulled himself to his feet with a smile, waving an immediate hand of dismissal. "You're right on time," he assured him before adding, "I'm just uncharacteristically early."
Though not far off the mark, it wasn't the entire truth; he had come early, but it was more to clean and make sure that the inside of the keep was more or less presentable, rather than to just bask in the sunlight on the steps. With no one living in the keep and the only person coming and going being Vax himself, it wasn't as polished as it once had been. Even if Vallo, when the entirety of Vox Machina had been around, and with Shaun and Cassandra residing in guest rooms, it had felt very much as full and lively as it had been when they had the chance to be in Emon and haunt the halls back home. Now it was the Xhorhaus that was full and lively and Vax loved it just as much.
Vax gave Eadwulf a short, discerning once over, still smiling in welcome. He was tall and imposing, much more solidly built than the more lithe half-elf. If the situation was different -- and he hadn't spent so much time around Grog -- Vax very well could have been intimidated.
Instead, he just continued, "It's good to meet you in person. Hopefully the place wasn't too hard to find? I always wished we'd have had a waypoint out here, but it's not too bad of a walk from the village."
