ALL STAR PARTY! FOR JULY 31ST!

Peter had not understood his management's request to wear light colors, a white shirt if he could, until he entered the tented area on Wimbourne Field and was struck with a glob of what felt like paint. He stared down at the bright pink bulge on his chest for a few seconds before looking up to find the culprit, a tiny intern from the back offices who looked mortified that he had been the one to strike Peter. But, the week had been a good one for his team and for himself, so Peter just spread the paint across his shirt like a claw mark and continued on his way. If this was their theme, he was going to run with it.

Anyone who came into his path had a pink hand-print somewhere on their body, whether it be in an appropriate place or not. He was enjoying very much the attention that had been put on the Wasps, and with their latest addition milling about somewhere, the news fresh off a post-game announcement, Peter was feeling excellent about the rest of their season.

Perhaps he needed some yellow paint, with all this team spirit he was feeling. Peter made his way through to a table where the necessary supplies were at the ready, and dipped two fingers into the bowl of yellow paint. With keen expertise, he spread thick lines across his cheek bones, as if ready to go into battle.

His spirits high and the lights down low, this was certainly going to prove to be an excellent night.

He had forgotten in the moment about his dramatic change in appearance, more concerned about having knocked Mattie to the ground. It had taken him ages to be able to string more than two sentences together in front of her in school. It may have been years since he harbored a crush for her but that didn't stop the slight panic that built seeing her on the floor. There was always something about that first crush that never seemed to completely go away.

Jeremiah hushed her gently once his thoughts started back up again. Glancing around quickly to be sure no one was paying attention. He shuffled them off to the side where it would be easier for them to talk. "Yea, it is...I couldn't miss Miles' big day so I had to improvise since being here could extend my suspension."

He hadn't actually spoken with Mattie since he had been banned from quidditch. Now that he was standing in front of her, Jeremiah realized that he had somehow avoided most people who were not Miles since then. His anxiety had reached new levels, and he thought distancing himself from any possible backlash would be best. Even if it wasn't exactly fair to his friends. "Are you sure you are alright? I am so sorry."

Right, Miles Lufkin! Jeremiah's best friend! It was all starting to make sense, and she supposed if Nicola or Max were at an event that she had been banned from, she would've cried about it for a bit, but disguising herself would have been one of her top ideas. She reached out and tugged on one of his dreadlocks, amused by the look.

"It suits you, I think!"

She smiled, but then thought about how sad it must be that he had to sneak into a party full of his friends and teammates. Mattie had of course heard the news behind Jeremiah's suspension, but she had never believed that her friend could have...could you be malicious about taking whatever he took? She couldn't see Jeremiah stepping a single toe out of bounds, so it was quite surprising that he'd been found guilty of cheating.

But, sometimes people got desperate. Mattie knew the feeling, thinking about all the ridiculous hours she'd worked just to keep a roof over her head these past few years, or the dirty, grungy places she'd performed in. If she'd found a quick fix on one of her more lonely nights, she couldn't be sure she wouldn't have taken it.

"I'm okay," she said, though her cheek did feel tender. It had been an accident, what more could she say? "Actually---"

Mattie let out a shriek as a bucket of purple paint was chucked in their direction, drenching the two. Her hands were up, and she wondered what more could crash into her this evening.

"Yea?" Jeremiah asked unable to stop the smile from forming as Mattie tugged on his hair. The longer hair hadn't really grown on him much in the short time he had it. Feeling it on his neck still startled him at times, but this was an interesting feeling that he found he didn't mind so much. "Maybe I'll consider keeping it for a little while longer." With all the other changes going on in his life, perhaps a new look wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. Though it would ruin the disguise if he ever needed to use it in the future.

He had been standing close, trying to get a good look to see if her face was already starting to bruise or if it was just the lighting. Mattie said she was fine, and while it was a relief that she wasn't upset with him, Jeremiah still felt guilty. He had a good salve at home he could send to her that took care of bruises that he had been about to offer when they were suddenly drenched. He didn't see the paint until it was too late and even with his quick reflexes, he couldn't move fast enough to block it completely.

"Well, I'm not sure either of us will be recognized now." The laugh bubbled out of him as he wiped paint away from his face. Could it be considered ironic that it was a color he never wished to wear again? He made a futile attempt at brushing some of the glops of paint away from Mattie's shoulders as he tried to control the giggles because it really wasn't all that funny. Perhaps avoiding his friends hadn't been the best choice after all, because even drenched in paint, he found he had missed actually laughing. "By now, at the very least, I owe you a drink."
