ALL STAR PARTY! FOR JULY 31ST!

Peter had not understood his management's request to wear light colors, a white shirt if he could, until he entered the tented area on Wimbourne Field and was struck with a glob of what felt like paint. He stared down at the bright pink bulge on his chest for a few seconds before looking up to find the culprit, a tiny intern from the back offices who looked mortified that he had been the one to strike Peter. But, the week had been a good one for his team and for himself, so Peter just spread the paint across his shirt like a claw mark and continued on his way. If this was their theme, he was going to run with it.

Anyone who came into his path had a pink hand-print somewhere on their body, whether it be in an appropriate place or not. He was enjoying very much the attention that had been put on the Wasps, and with their latest addition milling about somewhere, the news fresh off a post-game announcement, Peter was feeling excellent about the rest of their season.

Perhaps he needed some yellow paint, with all this team spirit he was feeling. Peter made his way through to a table where the necessary supplies were at the ready, and dipped two fingers into the bowl of yellow paint. With keen expertise, he spread thick lines across his cheek bones, as if ready to go into battle.

His spirits high and the lights down low, this was certainly going to prove to be an excellent night.

"No, no, I don't want any---"

Artie's mouth twisted in great, pained annoyance as the Kestrel slopped a big goop of green paint on his shoulder. "Yes, hilarious."

He waited for the idiot to leave before grimacing, stretching his neck as far away from the offending shoulder as he could. The paint had not touched his skin, so it would be fine until he managed to get away from the bumping crowd and could properly banish the gunk away. Artie dipped and dodged, wonder how his agent could have thought this was a good idea. He had performed excellently in the skills events, as he always did, and had wished to return home after it. But no he had to stay for the game he was not playing in, and he then had to attend a party he did not wish to attend.

Didn't he ever get to do anything he wanted?

"This is ridiculous," Artie grumbled to himself as he poked his wand at the glob, realizing that it was charmed to remain sticky, and gooey, and he bloody loved this jacket! "Ridiculous!"

He gave a great shake of his shoulder in one last dire attempt to get the offending paint off of him, and successfully removed a good chunk of it. That chunk, however, landed in the hair of the witch standing nearby, and Artie wondered how quickly he could procure a time-turner. Though, if he had managed to get one, he would've been able to stop his past self from doing something as foolish as putting a glop of paint in Arista Sykes' hair.

Artie couldn't even find it in himself to try and dash off before she turned. He stood, begrudgingly ready to accept his fate.

Arista had been having a perfectly unremarkable time. Hudson, ever the social butterfly, had flitted off almost as soon as the party had begun, leaving her to navigate the raucous crowd by herself. Stung by the failure of even an unofficial loss, she was not feeling terribly social, particularly not with any of her teammates, real or all-star. The glowing substance being thrown around did nothing to encourage her mood.

It was all a bit gauche for her taste, but people were enjoying the mess from the looks and sounds of it. Not that that was anything to recommend it by, of course. The general populus had awful taste. She had thus far managed to avoid getting anything but peripheral spray on her, and since she stayed out of the writhing center of the room, no chance of changing that.

Until something smacked into her back, causing her to turn her head sharply so she could look over her shoulder. There was no one there, but a dull glow seemed to be emanating from her person. She looked downwards to see if anything had fallen on the floor, and saw plenty of things best not thought about, but nothing that might have been launched at her and bounced off.

What. The. Hell?

Her fingers immediately went to her back, running up and down in search of something, and stopping in the tangle of her hair, where something wet awaited her. She drew her fingers back to her face, where iridescent green greeted her. The paint was textured, as if clothing fibres or dust had been mixed in. Her brows pulled together in disgust, and she immediately around her for the culprit.

She needn't have looked far, because Artie Griffiths was standing in front of her, splotches of the same green on his person, and a rather dumbstruck expression on his face.

"What is your issue, Griffiths?" she snarled. At that very moment, the peak of her anger and irritation, a party-goer was dashing past her, a cup of paint in their hands. Without stopping to think, she plucked the cup right out of their grip, ignored the outraged hey! that followed, and tossed the glowing pink contents onto him. "I thought you'd like it back," she said, sweetly, discarding it over her shoulder.

Artie had never felt so many things at once, and he was quite sure that he was going to implode into a little pile of dust and get swept away with the breeze.

It seemed like the paint was moving toward him as if hit with an impediment jinx, because Artie was quite sure of his reflexes. Maybe it was the swiftness in accessing a fresh cup of paint that had caught him off guard, or perhaps he'd been frozen himself by the sheer panic the thought of being victim to Arista Syke's fury had caused him. So Artie was startled, confused, a bit impressed with her swiftness, and then cold, because the paint was cold as it splattered into his face and all over his front.

His jacket was surely ruined.

Again, there were many things that he was feeling. He was startled, confused, impressed, cold, and now as the paint dripped he was suddenly very aware of how much of his skin was now covered with it. Some...some voice in his head tried shouting that the paint was clean, that they wouldn't have put it out to 'play with' if it was contaminated or could harm you in any sense, but the shouting voice did not drown out the much louder hollering voice that told him who knew what the fuck the Kestrels had done with this paint!

"Ack! ACK!" he let out, seemingly freed of his frozen state (though in reality it was a split second reaction). Artie stumbled back hands and arms out wide because, he didn't know why, his body just did it, and he regained his footing. How--how--how was he supposed to move with all of this paint dripping down his neck and under his shirt and---

"It. Was. An. Accident!" he let out unhappily, throwing his hands to the ground in an attempt to splatter what he could off of him. In turn, he managed to spray Arista, and now he was feeling satisfied. With another great flick of his arm in her direction, Artie continued his barrage, stepping closer. Before he could think better of it, because he really should have thought better of it, and would have if he were not under such a strain of feelings, reached into his hair, grabbed a shiny pink glob, and planted it on top of Arista's head.

"An accident, Sykes!"

The Yellow Jackets hadn't won the game, but Rose found that didn't bother her much. She loved winning, yes, but with the amount of time she had spent in the league, she now knew people. The All-Star match gave her the happy opportunity to catch up with old friends, have the opportunity to have a bit of a laugh during the short time they "practiced" together, and it was nice, wasn't it? She now had countless pictures of beautiful baby princess Sabine from Miles, a great, long-coming story about how Hudson Duke had finally made an honest witch out of Arista, and a surprisingly sentimental compliment from Ludo concerning the Wasps' mission to obtain an equally fit and talented chaser, and wouldn't she know that Rose was the only player he could trust to fill the position? Wendy had dyed her hair ombre with beautiful hues of whites, pinks, greens, and reds, Maggie never ceased in whispering incredibly poignant observations in her ear that had her in stitches, and Michal---

Rose's thoughts immediately stopped, much like a choir suddenly twisting sour and out of key. She had nothing nice to say about Michal Conway Lynch, but since she supposed he had left her alone this past week, her thoughts concerning him could stop there. And they did.

Adjusting her flower crown (all of her teammates had been gifted one) like it a real one, Rose looked out into the crowd. The scene was messy, and dark, and there really was no point in attempting to spot faces she might recognize. But she tried anyway, and probably for too long, for when a gentle hand brushed the hair away from her neck, she smiled, thinking she had found one of the faces she had been searching for. The same hand trailed down her side, and when it firmly gripped her upper thigh, she turned to meet him.

"Peter!" Rose's brows went high, and the hand resting over his (which had relocated to an area very close to her arse) gripped it significantly. Her thoughts went back to the last time she had seen him, which was most certainly why he thought--- her other hand went to his chest, closer to his shoulder, to steady herself against him.

"Rose!" Peter mimicked, and with a few inches more he closed the distance and kissed her firmly.

He had known this would be an excellent night. Peter had weaved and bobbed throughout the tent, greeting teammates, leering at enemies, flirting with women who caught his eye (and therefore caught his roaming hands), but Rose was here, and he hadn't seen her in weeks, and with the many dark, dark corners of this fun zone, he was sure they could get up to whatever they wished.

Peter had not expected to see Rose in the capacity in which he had because of whatever she had with Brookstanton, but that was dead and gone and it had quickly opened up doors. Peter, of course, had his own dalliances throughout his time back here, and a public-but-fake relationship with Kalista, so there hand been no intention...and yet, things had worked just like they used to...

Though not entirely satisfied, Peter pulled back, and with his free hand touched one of the flowers in the crown that rested atop her head. She was most amusing with these, and he made a gesture toward his own head.

"Where's mine?" he asked, feeling cheeky (and feeling hers).

Her eyes widened when Peter kissed her, her pounding heart catching in her throat. No, this wasn't--- just a great misunderstanding--- she hadn't thought---- Rose squirmed in Peter's grasp, realizing her brain had been shocked into a crawling kind of pace, and that wasn't very good for the situation creating itself in front of her. She--- she put both her hands to Peter's front, thinking that even if her words felt caught and frenzied, her body knew how to react.

Even though she felt dumb, Rose moved to press her palms against him, intent on first showing him how their night together had just been that, one night, when she jumped at his forwardness.

"Peter!" Rose gasped, very much feeling like a jolt had coursed through her. She suddenly didn't feel very sluggish now, and her hand went back to clamp down on his. She pushed his hand away, holding onto it tightly so it couldn't wander anywhere else. The other, feeling like it too needed to be doing something, hovered briefly over her own head, patting down the flowers adorning it.

Had anyone seen? Thinking she had seen many cameras here tonight, as well as hundreds of eyes that loved to feed chatty mouths, Rose looked around quickly to see if anyone had noticed. But she couldn't divert too much attention away from the more pressing eyes, mouth, and hands before her.

"We can't---" she rushed, feeling nervous now. "I can't--"

Her tone was low as her feet fumbled to push back from him, and her arm extended out to create some distance between the two of them.

FIANCÉ

Saoirse gripped Howell's hand tightly, much like it the only thing in the world keeping her feet on the ground. And perhaps it was, for even many months after the fact, she still found herself in need of a reminder that despite her deep, deep anxiety over their upcoming nuptials in five months, she loved Howell. She loved him, couldn't imagine her life without him, knew him the only person she could ever truly, completely, without a doubt love, and yet....

Her stomach twisted painfully at the thought of December. So much attention from so many people terrified her, and it hadn't been enough to overpower the terror of thinking if she spoke up, Howell would leave her. Did it have to be like that? Must it? She stayed up late at night, tossing, turning these thoughts over and over in her head, praying to come across the right answer on her own. She didn't want to unsettle him, she wanted so desperately to be settled, and enjoy what little time they were allowed together during the season. She needed help, he--- he had to help her.

Lost in thought, Saoirse didn't realize she had been squeezing his hand too tightly until she had. Shifting suddenly underneath his arm, releasing his hand, she remembered where they were. The party inside the pitch had little interest to the both of them, and since it was easy to get lost underneath the rafters, they had wandered within to sit in the grass and look up at the sky.

"I'm sorry," she swallowed, turning enough to glance at Howell's face. And, as she nearly always did, her cheeks turned pink at the sight of him looking back at her. Now embarrassed and distressed, Saoirse quickly turned to nestle back against his shoulder. She placed half of her hot face against his chest.

Howell was by no means a party animal, but he enjoyed a good celebration every now and then.

This party was neither a now nor a then.

All things considered, it was fine, he supposed, but he simply was not in the mood to celebrate much. Saoirse's team's victory was a great one, of course (he could not look at Holly without blushing immensely), and he happily toasted to it, but since Saoirse didn't seem inclined to dwell on it, neither did he. With Seth, and Michal, and Anya, and Vinny, not to mention his own percolating plans, there was simply too much on his mind to embrace this reckless abandon.

Not that he was very sure he could appreciate wild paint splatters even in his best mood.

After furtively dodging his teammates all night, he was shockingly quite fine with Saoirse, also not usually one for parties, pulling him outside of the claustrophobic darkness of the tent with a firm grip on his hand that usually made his heart sing, even if occasionally, such as tonight, it also risked broken bones.

"Sorry for what?" he asked, peering down at her, stroking his thumb between her shoulder blades.

She shook her head, not wishing to speak of it. No, there were many things Saoirse found she couldn't speak about lately, and they all fell under the same desperate category. She wished... she wished that she could, she wished that she possessed within her a great ability to say what she felt in the proper manner that she felt it, but Saoirse knew she wasn't that kind of person. Life had formed her into a hard kind of stone, one whose edges had been roughed sharp and weak areas destroyed long ago out of survival. So it left her, what she now understood, as taciturn, callous, and painfully stunted.

Usually, this did not bother her. Saoirse was ambitious enough to not feel tied down to most fraternal bonds, having marched alone for so long and knowing her path. But now... it was different. Things were not as they once were. Why was it such a struggle to force herself to change?

Saoirse couldn't stop these thoughts from constantly plaguing her, running over and over again in her head as if set on a loop.

Suddenly, she didn't want to be here anymore. The crowd, the day, she felt so exhausted... she wanted to go home. Scrambling to her feet, Saoirse stood up quickly, holding herself in her arms. She looked down at Howell with a slight frown on her face.

"Can we go home?" she asked, her shoulders dropping as she spoke. "I think I'm ready to go home."

LOTTIE YIKES
[info]picaro
2015-07-29 01:22 am UTC (link)
This was all his fault. If he hadn't swerved so severely to the left to avoid his ex-girlfriend's gaze, her path, he wouldn't currently be hovering beside her, sweating like a fool, at the sight of her covered in yellow and black paint from head to toe. He hadn't seen the large container of paint behind him, he hadn't known that bumping into it would set off the most unfortunate of chain effects! He had just wanted---- he had seen Lottie's hair practically miles away, and, not wanting to ruin his night (Vivienne's night! Miles' night! His sister's night!) he had thought it best to just--- get out of the way!

That had been right, he hadn't been wrong to do that! So why, why did the cruel fates---! Adian swallowed, thankful at least that the crowd's hooting cheers had passed. He couldn't look at Lottie's face, no, he didn't want to know how much rage was undoubtedly coursing through her, the curses she must be muttering under her lips!

"I'm really sorry, I---!" Adian stepped closer to Lottie, his palms up in a defensive manner. When he stepped closer, he realized she was shaking (from the cold? Or anger? He didn't want to know), so suddenly, because he knew better, he shrugged off his jacket.

"Here!" he offered, balancing his jacket and his wand in both hands. He held it up for her, leaning tentatively in apprehension because he was truly unsure if she wanted it. "I can get it off, I can---"

This was not how she expected the night to go. The week had gone off perfectly. Lottie had gotten out of playing not only with out it hurting her reputation but making it even better. Hudson's karaoke idea had been a complete hit, and Phoebe had won playing in her place. It could not have been better. So, she could handle a little paint party. She had been perfectly prepared to get some paint on her at this event. She was fine with the idea. This crossed some sort line though.

It happened so quickly, Lottie wasn't even sure what had happened. Her mouth dropped open in shock and she instantly regretted as paint dripped inside. Between that and the paint she could feel running down the back of her robes, the front, everywhere, Lottie just stood frozen. She knew that voice. She couldn't see a thing as she didn't dare open her eyes but there was no mistaking Adian's bumbling apology. After running her hand down her own face in a futile attempt to wipe the paint away, Lottie reached out to do anything to get him to just stop talking. Oh, that was definitely a nose. Perfect. Only risking opening one eye at a time, she couldn't help but feel a bit satisfied at the hand print she had smeared across his face.

"Hello to you too." Lottie said brows high, attempting to wipe the excess paint from her arms. This was so completely ridiculous Lottie didn't know whether to laugh or cry. It wasn't the first time this had happened, but it certainly beat out the last. There wasn't a bit of her that wasn't covered in paint, and Lottie couldn't help but squirm as paint made its way to where paint should not be.

Holding her hands out, she looked down at herself, shaking her head. She waved off his jacket, seeing no point of getting it covered in paint when she wasn't cold, her shivers being caused by the creeping paint. "Well, come on then," she said finally looking back up to her ex, tilting her head towards the hall that had substantially more light. "You know I'm rubbish at cleaning spells and there is no way I am spending the night looking like this."

Adian froze, his eyes going wide as quaffles as Lottie wiped her hand across his face. He had not been expecting her to get so close to him, and certainly not--- touch him. Quickly, because he didn't know what else to do, he wiped his face back and forth against his own arm. It just resulted in the paint spreading further all over his face, so now it probably looked like someone had thrown a bomb of sorts in his face, but that wasn't... really the issue at hand.

"Uh, okay, uh---" Adian danced from one foot to the other, his arms spread out much like he was carrying a very large, and invisible, sack of books. How could he have been so stupid? How was Lottie not murdering him right now? Perhaps all the goop and goo was prohibiting her from committing the acts she wanted to commit...

"Okay," he nodded, and moved closer to her. But he didn't know--- Adian looked down at the jacket in his hands, and back at Lottie, honestly not knowing how to get her from here, the bumping, roaring, people-infested crowd to back there, in the light, where it would be much more obvious what he had done.

But he had to, he had to fix this, even if it was his ex-girlfriend! So, keeping that in mind, Adian moved quickly. He jammed his jacket over Lottie's shoulders, wincing it briefly in peace, so he could put his hands over it and direct her toward the hall. Pushing Lottie forward, and trying to be normal about it, he directed her the best he could.

CHARLIE LOVE
[info]loveliddie
2015-07-29 02:52 am UTC (link)
Liddie couldn't be more thankful she had reached the night portion of her day. She was, rather frankly, an awful flyer, so the process of flying about in a sport setting with people that actually knew what they were doing hadn't exactly been the highlight of her week. Her month? She really should talk to someone about how to get her name off this celebrity quidditch list.

But then, she and Charlie wouldn't be able to spend the weekend together! Joint interviews, joint appearances, and if she hadn't been playing, then Charlie certainly wouldn't have been able to make his spectacular save, coming to her rescue mid-game like the hero he was. She did enjoy the time they got to spend together, really the only time their careers came together for it, so perhaps she would put off finding that person to talk to just yet. As she walked, Liddie looked down at her left hand, and the ring on her finger with her thumb. A lot had changed in a year, hadn't it?

Yes, she thought most pleasantly, and with her other hand, cupped it to collect as much paint as her palm could hold.

Now just where had that wonderful husband of hers gotten off to?

When Liddie found Charlie, he wasn't too preoccupied, and she purred in delight. He wasn't covered in enough paint (actually, he was practically dripping in it); that must be addressed!

"Come here," she tugged at his arm, her eyes sultry low, and just as Liddie had pulled Charlie in for a great, much deserved snog (his team had won, after all), her other hand flew toward the side of his head to throw whatever paint was left in it at him. Wiping her hand down the back of his neck, and then his shoulder, she pulled away and let out a shriek of her own (there had been backsplash, most definitely). Liddie turned, thinking hopefully, that she could skip back into the crowd and escape his clutches, but she knew he would catch her.

It would take weeks to clean the paint off of all the Kestrels in attendance, they would have to be hosed down by the giant squid of the Great Lake himself (herself?). Instead of a black tie event, the Wasps had opted for the exact opposite and Charlie was thrilled about it. The All-Star week was always the greatest of the summer, and to top it off with the childish thrill of making a mess sealed the deal. Getting to have this fun with his teammates, seeing friends from all over, and having his amazing wife by his side for nearly the entire time.

"Liddie!" he had exclaimed at the sight of her, immediately falling into her embrace. She entranced him, she could do whatever she wished to him in this moment, and---"Bleh!"

Spitting out the pink paint that got into his mouth, Charlie swiped up a cup of neon blue and started after Liddie. The chase lasted a little longer than he'd anticipated, as running through slippery puddles almost caused severe accidents, but soon he had his wife in his grasp and the cup of point hovering dangerously over her (their) heads. Even as he acted in retaliation, Charlie thought it only fair that they both get slopped in paint.

"I reckon blue would look rather good with that pink," he teased, wriggling a bit in a faux-threat of dropping the cup.

"No! No!," she shrieked, cowering in his grip while her hands reached up to him. His face was far too beautiful to deserve what she had done to it, yes, but did that mean he must cover poor little hers as well? No. Whatever happened to protecting it? Liddie squirmed in his grasp, her hands attempting to quickly grab at his arm, his face, his chest, anything of Charlie's she could get a hold of. Her knees bent, and she folded back as if to wilt like a dying flower against him.

Though not seriously, because of all the things Charlie Spinnet could do to her, his embrace would never cease in making her back arch forward in pleasure. Not particularly caring about where they were, who was around them, and what they were covered in, Liddie's thoughts couldn't help but arrive to a state a little more mischievous.

"You mustn't," Liddie lamented, and perhaps not so innocently, let her resting hand descend purposely down his quite perfectly sculpted arm. She cupped her hand against his skin, pressing her palms and her fingers to it with the praise it deserved. Her hips just so happen to shift closer against his, and as she looked up to him, her head tilted enough that her hair swung with it.

"I wouldn't survive it!" she revealed, in a manner most full of dread... if the rascally grin on her lips wasn't pressed so permanently on her face. Her other hand reached up for his neck, clutching it to be closer to him. And would you look at that! His front was open enough that it was easy for her hand to slip under his shirt and grip his equally perfectly sculpted shoulder...

Victory was sweet.

The celebrity Quidditch game had quickly become one of Greta's favourite pastimes, greatly helped by the fact that every year she had participated, her team had won. Enough familiar faces were asked back that they had begun to work like a well-waxed broom together. She absolutely loved the sport, and getting to play it in front of such outrageous professional talent was always thrilling. Winning in front of said outrageously professional talent was even sweeter, of course. Not that anybody liked a sore winner.

But speaking of sweet victory, she was finding it even sweeter when followed by utter chaos. Greta had gotten in a very satisfying squeeze of a certain area on Gabriel Corner's person (and glowing blue proof), and she was fairly certain that was Peter Fitzwilliams's handiwork trailing dangerously low on her back, which was enough for her to declare this the best party ever, as far she she was concerned.

Currently, she was involved in a game of hide-and-seek with some of the Stingers, Bees, and general raucous party-goers, except there seemed to be no official seeker, and no real rules—essentially, people were just hiding and trying to get the jump on everyone else. It was brilliant.

As far as hiding places went, lurking behind a column was not a brilliant one. But since she'd donned a stole that she had procured (stolen, perhaps) from the cloakroom, most of her tell-tale paint splatters were covered. So when she noticed a figure lingering nearby, she dipped her hand into her cup of paint, feeling quite smug as she circled around the column to approach the dark silhouette from behind. "I'm armed and dangerous," she warned with a grin on her face as she turned, faltering when she realised it was Ludo in front of her.

Greta was quite certain he hadn't been playing. "Oh," she said, slightly startled, lowering her dripping pink fist. "It's—hello."

It was hard to keep track of things when there was so much going on around you. He had been spent a majority of the evening with Dirk, Nik and Zora, who was grateful that her brother had kept her husband from being killed out on the field. It was fair to say that Ludo was more upset about his loss that night than his friend and Krum were, but he wasn't at all disappointed with the Yellow Jacket's performance. He respected the other All Stars for their talents, and had been looking forward to playing his first game with the Wasps' newest Keeper, but at the end of the day, the Black Buzzers had earned their victory. He was a confident bloke - sometimes a little too confident - but even he had to admit that the players assembled on the opposing team were a force to be reckoned with.

He imagined Geofferey Brand was reveling in the fact that he was on a team that actually won a game.

Being the captain of the team hosting the game that year, Ludo had left the Cresswell/Krum family in order to make rounds. With the lights being so dark, everyone wearing the same color, and most having paint smeared across their face, it was difficult to try and find anyone in this crowd. He had attempted to scan the area to see if a certain winning Brash Bee was under the tent, but had been pulled in a hundred different directions before he had the chance. At some point, he had gotten sucked into a conversation with one of the interns, who kept going on about how much he admired him, and how honored he was to be working for the Wasps.

His ego always had a healthy appetite since he was young, but this kid sounded genuine, and nervous. Feeling tipsy, generous, and extremely warm, Ludo had removed his shirt and signed it in the closest paint he could find before handing it to the kid. It had already been covered in so much paint that there wasn't room for anything else. It wasn't very long before his bare skin had become spattered in neon. He had even gotten attacked again by Peter, who realized that his captain was no longer sporting the original he had left on his shirt, and had grabbed both of his shoulders so that he had a matching set of pink hand prints on each side.

For the first time all night, he had been able to just sit back and watch all the people enjoying themselves at Wimbourne. He smirked to himself, though his expression shifted to one of confusion as he heard a familiar voice behind him. Pivoting around, he saw the very Bee he had been looking for earlier, though judging by the look on her face, she had certainly not been expecting the person she had approached to be him.

"Hi," he repeated, once again surprised that she hadn't simply turned around and walked away once she realized who was in front of her. "Armed and dangerous, huh?" He asked with an intrigued raise of his brow, glancing down at the cup of paint in her hand.

"Well—" Greta started, before her eyes fell on the extremely well-conforming, paint-splattered shirt he had donned. Holy Hecate, was he shirtless? He was. Good golly, she need to look away. A difficult feat when there were literally glowing signs persuading her otherwise. That was playing so unbelievably dirty, it went beyond mere cheating. She thanked her lucky stars that it was too dark to make out the definition she knew firsthand was there.

Her lucky stars were also thanked for it being too dark to properly tell if she was blushing, which she was. Armed and dangerous, had she really said that?

She was so embarrassing.

As to why she didn't just turn on her heel and leave once she saw him, she would tell anyone who asked (Ralph) that it was because she was in such a wonderful mood that she was feeling charitable. The taste of victory was still fresh, the party was fun, and his team was hosting the entire event. Not at least saying hello would be rude, wouldn't it? There were plenty of other people hiding and seeking, they wouldn't miss her for just a few moments.

"Don't believe me?" Greta asked, arching her own brow in what some, certainly not her, might have declared a challenge.

FLYNN

Phoebe was trying her absolute best to not be completely obnoxious about being on the winning celebrity All-Star team, but it was quite hard when she got to fly around with her former quidditch captain, who riled her up like no one else. Well, in the competitive sense, at least! Anneliese Jugson used to terrify Phoebe on the Hogwarts quidditch pitch, but now, more than six years removed from school, the woman appreciated the tenacity and ferocity.

She was playing on the same pitch that WENDY MIDGEN would fly on later that night! How bloody cool was that? When she’d told Leo, he had shrieked, thinking that Phoebe had decided to play ‘quidditch for real?!’ and was vastly disappointed when she told him it was only for one night. But boy, was it worth seeing her son’s eyes light up at the sight of her in an official jersey, face on the big, big screen.

Quite honestly, it was the second greatest moment of her life, after Leo’s birth.

But, she had to at least try to be a gracious winner, because her lovely boyfriend had been on the losing squad. Phoebe had not managed to contain her excitement on the pitch, but now at the after party, she composed herself to a grin that wouldn’t fade. Flynn had been accosted by Hudson almost immediately, so she’d lost him in the crowd and had taken to weaving in and out of various conversations. But, she’d finally spotted her walking, talking, breathing piece of art boyfriend, and Phoebe had to say, she was quite impressed.

“You make losing look amazing,” she said, knowing that she could have chosen better words, but Phoebe’s face was agape in awe at the art Flynn had managed to paint on himself. She’d only managed a small heart or two on her arm, and she was drizzled with the paint splatter of others.

The Silent Stingers may have lost their match against the Bees, but Flynn had an excellent time flying around on the pitch, playing with all of the talented celebrities who had been chosen to play that year. He was familiar with a few of them - Savannah Davies stopped in Boogaloo often, seeing how her brother was married to Giada's sister, Ally. Then there was Mattie Scarpin, who was the first artist to record in the music shop's studio, which made the Dorny's business really take off. He had some personal history with Mattie as well, which involved being magically enchanted by a mask, making him believe that she was his soul mate. It had been a bit awkward, when he had connected the dots and realized that she was the mystery woman who had been such a powerful influence in his drawings for weeks after that night.

Mattie Scarpin hadn't crossed his mind in months until he found out they would be flying together. The woman who had taken on the role of his muse was actually on the opposing, victorious team. He had let out a heavy sigh at the end of the match, not necessarily because the Stingers had lost, but because he was bracing himself for the shit eating grin his girlfriend would be wearing the rest of the night.

Phoebe was a competitive person, whereas Flynn was much more laid back - if he won, he was happy about it, but if he lost, he didn't let it eat away at him. It probably explained how he was able to be a fan of the worst team in the league, and why it drove his girlfriend completely crazy that he cheered for the underdogs.

He didn't even know how much time had passed since Hudson had pulled him away from Phoebe, but he was just finishing up the last details of the design he had been drawing up his arm when Phoebe found him. He looked up at her from his seated position, letting out a laugh at her words, twisting the paintbrush he had been using between his fingers.

"Thank you for that backhanded compliment," he said through a grin, reaching out to place his hands on her waist and pull her forward so that she was standing between his legs. "You always look amazing, but winning agrees with you."

Mattie!!

Sneaking into the game itself had been more difficult than making it into the party afterwards. The chances of him being recognized in a stadium full of Quidditch fanatics and press were far greater than in this dark room with paint slung everywhere. He hadn't planned on going to the party at all figuring he would be pushing his luck to go unnoticed at both. Then he realized that if he didn't go, there would be no way for him to congratulate Miles on his big All-Star debut. Not until well after the fact and that would not be acceptable at all. His best friend deserved a celebration and it would be worth it if he got caught.

Which he wouldn't, because Jeremiah felt himself nearly unrecognizable with his hair charmed out into shoulder length dreads and a first time ever mustache and goatee combo. That along with all the other charms he managed, Jeremiah felt ridiculous but so far not one person had given him a second glance. Miles had at least gotten a good laugh before pushing him away claiming he couldn't be here. Something about how it didn't matter if he was unrecognizable, Adrian would smell his blood.

It was a first, Miles trying to get Jeremiah to leave a party rather than stay, but he wasn't about to complain. With the paint flying everywhere, he was more than happy to leave now that he had found Miles. Navigating his way out proved to be much more difficult now that when he first arrived. The number of people seemed to multiple and there seemed to be various paint wars happening all at once. He managed to dodge a bright yellow ball of paint, but in doing so, Jeremiah collided with another person, sending them to the ground.

"I'm so sorry,Mattie!" Jeremiah said once he realized he knocked his friend over, offering a hand to help her up. "I didn't see you behind me, are you alright?"

So this glow-in-the-dark paint party theme? It made for an excellent performance setting. Mattie had helped introduce some of the fun of it, with a rather bold unveiling of her outfit. Bold for her, anyway. It wasn't too revealing, really, her pink top and a short black skirt, but it was fun, she'd drawn some cheers from the crowd (and hoots), and it made her excited that she had other ways to please the crowd.

Speaking of the crowd, she'd definitely lost Max in it, and now Mattie was wandering about, enjoying getting paint dripped on her, but also not enjoying how short she was compared to most of the people in attendance. Was it a requirement that quidditch players had to be giants? Mattie was of average height, surely she should not feel so insignificant? It did not help that her boyfriend was also of average height, making this dizzying, kaleidoscope feel of a party feel more like a maze than a dance floor.

Thinking that kaleidoscope was a fun word and wondering where she could possibly use it, Mattie most definitely stopped looking where she was going. It wasn't long before she began to immediately regret her decision to not watch where she was going, because someone's shoulder whacked her in the face.

She ignored the hand that was offered, needing a moment or two to catch her senses. Mattie put her own hand to her face and looked up and scowled at...who...did she know him? He certainly knew who she was, but she had just been flying on a pitch and performing on stage. She squinted, as if that would help her focus, and her eyes widened when she finally recognized the brute who'd knocked her to the ground.

"Jeremiah?!" she let out, finally grabbing his hand to pull herself up. She continued to rub her face, but looked at him in great confusion. "What are you---is that your real hair?"

A stupid question, but she hadn't seen her friend in a long time---who knew what he'd been up to with all that free time he had now.

Vivienne + Miles
[info]vivantes
2015-08-01 01:05 am UTC (link)
“MILES!” Vivienne yelled, her shoulders scrunching as her brother pulled back the collar of her shirt and dropped a large cup (bucket?!) of paint down her back. She squirmed and jumped from foot to foot; it was cold and gross, but she was giggling madly. Miles jumped in front of her, grinning from ear to ear that he’d managed his retaliation. Vivienne had swiftly covered his seat in purple paint mere seconds before her brother had sat down, and it had been a battle for at least half an hour.

This night had been thrilling. Vivienne had known about the all-star game for a few days before it was announced and it had been terribly hard to keep it from her brother or Adian. She’d never shown or really had any urge to play quidditch, but an ease in the air seemed to run in the family. Vivienne had scored three goals, and earned herself a big shake of the shoulders from Nikolai Krum, the newest Catapult, so she was sure that her boyfriend had passed out (even for a few seconds) in the stands.

“Declare me the winner!” he said, snatching the water bottle she had been carrying around out of her hands. Vivienne couldn’t even recall when she’d picked it up in the chaos, it had just been thrust into her hands. She attempted to grab it back, but her brother was too tall and held it high above his head.

Even though she was parched, Vivienne couldn’t help but smile widely up at him; it had been so long since the two of them had been able to be like this, relaxed, playful, talking nonsense and gossip. As happy as Vivienne was that her brother was finally growing up (she thought, as he slapped her thigh with some excess yellow paint), she missed their carefree days.

“Fine, fine, you win!” Vivienne laughed, dropping down to a bench. Miles stood tall, chest puffing with his victory.

“I always win, Vivvi,” he said loudly, he twisted the cap of the water bottle and waved it at her, splashing her shirt. Vivienne made a face to remind him that his all-star team didn’t win either tonight, but she scowled at a pain on her arm. The water had burned right through the material of her shirt! That didn’t---why would it----

The horrified shriek she let out at the sight of her brother grasping at his throat could have rattled awake the dead. Vivienne jumped up to try and catch Miles before he fell, but he was too heavy and she dropped to the ground with him. The bottle of water trickled out at his feet, and smoke billowed up from the poisonous puddle. Vivienne tried to hold Miles upright, but he was dead-weight in her arms, and he grasped onto her in his struggle to breathe.

Music, lights, and the dancing crowd bounced around them as her brother lay literally dying in her arms.

“MILES!” Vivienne yelled.

HUGH!

July had been an extremely eventful month. She and Hugh had become closer, then there was the reunion, the restraining order that she had filed on behalf of Holly Troy against her ex-husband, preventing him from coming anywhere near Appleby stadium, or any other stadium when the Arrows weren't playing at home, and now the All-Star game to top it all off. She was glad for the chance to just sit back and enjoy the games, and while she was happy for Holly when the Buzzers had won, she had probably screamed louder than she should have when Hugh had won MVP for his performance on the field during the celebrity match.

She had entered the tent of the after party with Hugh, but it hadn't taken very long for her to lose him in the crowd. If Camilla wasn't certain that his energy was coming from the thrill of playing the game and winning the title of MVP, she would have been convinced that he had taken a few doses of Pepperup potion.

Seeing how she had lost her date, Camilla had been flitting around, making conversation with the other guests at the party. She had been in the middle of a conversation with Savannah Davies, which was interrupted when she yelped with surprise as she felt a pair of strong arms wrap around her from behind. She covered her mouth, embarrassed by the noise she had just let out, but another sound was already erupting from the back of her throat when she turned around to face him - this time, she was laughing. Her nose scrunching with amusement as she adjusted her strapless dress, which had been nice and clean at the beginning of the night.

"Look at what they've done to you!" she said through a grin, her hands placing themselves on either side of his paint covered face.

Hugh hollered in delight, very much pleased by what 'they' had done to them. He was covered in paint, wore a badge of honor and dignity around his neck (which he produced for Delilah's close viewing pleasure whenever he deemed fit), he had finally found his beautiful girlfriend---- it was not lost to Hugh that this day had turned out to be a great happy one. He felt... much like his old self again, or at least, remnants of it, and with the near-pure high continuously coursing through him, it made him feel practically invincible.

His only wish was that Siena was here, as she would have loved this. But, Hugh knew, Siena loved winning more (just about the same amount he did), so he understood why his sister needed to be elsewhere tonight, focusing on her first big race back. He was not concerned that his absence now would upset her--- he would be at the finish line in Athens, after all, and prep was very important. So Hugh went about the party without much a care in the world, finding that experience... unparalleled.

"These are the marks of a GREAT WINNER CAMILLA!" he cried, and he moved his arms about as he held her. Hugh kissed her fiercely, thinking he had not done that enough tonight, pulling away to only smile at Camilla with a smile to brilliant it hurt.
