I have decided to buy my own camera, and start taking professional-type photographs. That being said, all I need now is a professional camera, and some know-how. And someone to convince me not to chuck it against the wall when things don't go my way.

Oh, and some idea where to start looking for a good camera. And someone to show me how to use it. And some extra money to procure one.

Are they still using film for casual shooting, or is everything digital, now-a-days?

ALSO I've decided to dress as a Pirate for Halloween.

Go digital. Just do it. You can get a really good camera for 300-400 bucks, or you can splurge and get a DSLR camera for a few thousand plus.

It's probably best to get a cheaper one for practice and getting used to it.

Plus you probably won't have any idea what DSLR means unless you look it up. (basically it means REALLY freaking awesome)

I'm not sure I want to spend a few thousand on a whim. But a few hundred I could do.

I'll have to scour for deals.

No idea what DSLR means. How freaking awesome?

Basically, the camera equivilent of WYSIWYG.

I like cameras with a large built in optical zoom, myself.

I've heard some of those words.

Optical zoom. That I can remember.

Lots of megapixels. Something with a high speed of reading memory is also good.

Lots of megapixels, and high memory reading. Got it.
