So hello there! I've spoken to a few of you on this forum, but I haven't introduced myself yet. My name is Newton Scamander, but most people simply call me Newt. I work just next door at the Aquarium of the Pacific, in Long Beach. I also like to help out at the San Diego Zoo whenever I can. I'm working on a secondary doctorate in Marine Biology at UC Long Beach, so I'm here for a while.

I suppose that's about all I have to say? Other than to come down to the aquarium sometime and meet all our lovely friends there. We have otters, I think I told someone. And sharks, which are my favourites, if I absolutely had to choose a favourite.

I've never understood where the stigma about sharks comes from. From the movie Jaws, if I remember correctly. But take, for instance, the Shy Shark. This little fellow got his name because when he is nervous, he curls his tail up to cover his face. What a delightful creature!

	Hi. Welcome to the network. Working at an aquarium and a zoo sounds fun. I volunteer at an animal shelter. He really covers his face? How does he protect himself from predators? Or do they only do it in captivity? (Reply to this) (Thread)

	He really does! He's very small, and lives mostly near the ocean floor where he feeds on shellfish and smaller fish. They have the same two rows of teeth that other sharks do, so they can protect themselves that way! (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)
