Ray had shut off the television and the video games. He'd brought the girls into the living room. They knew something was up, and the looks between them nearly broke Ray's heart. he was in for a long night, once he and Greg told the girls the news. It wasn't going to be easy, and they weren't going to take it well, but it had to be done. The girls needed to know,a nd they deserved to be told before they found out on the message boards.

"Daddy? What's wrong?" Sofia asked. Reina had hold of her hand. They definitely knew something was wrong. Ray reached for Sofia's hand, and Greg's, leaving Greg to take Reina's free hand. He had a vague notion of how corny it was, but their family was effectively reduced to just the four of them now, and they needed to stick together. Ray glanced at Greg, though he knew Greg was leaving it up to him to explain, because Greg wouldn't have the words to say what needed to be said.

"Girls, you know how crazy this place is, right? How you came here as babies, and then one day you were four and Daddy and Papi don't remember everything in between?" Ray signed as he spoke, his eyes shifting from one to the other of the girls. "And how people come here from all over, and sometimes they're not even from the same place," Ray sighed. He was talking too much, trying to cushion the blow, when the landing was going to be hard, no matter what.

Sofia looked back at him, her eyes wide and confused. Ray tried to force a smile, but it failed miserably. "Is it Mami?" Sofia's voice was small, barely a whisper.

Ray nodded softly. "It's Mami, baby. She's gone. And Marky too." They'd take the news of Drew and Karen leaving hard too, but Orlinda and Mark would hit them harder.

It took a second of staring, the girls waiting for Ray to elaborate, say she was on a trip or something. That Marky just went to see his mommy. But the news never came, and Ray got matching quivering lips for it, Sofia's eyebrows furrowing in a familiar sort of denying pout.

"No, you's wrong. She wouldn't leave us here, an- an' Marky's just gone on... No!" It was unusual, for her to not take something Ray said at face value, but he had to be wrong. "Or-or they's lost like Schro, an'.. we's just gotta find 'em. Right?" She was too upset to sign while she spoke, so she had to summarize for Reina, once she tugged on her sleeve.

Greg sat back, helpless, just watching the girls with a sad sort of expression on his face. "Baby, it's true. None of Mami's things are here. Marky either. Things like that happen hre. They- they just went back to where they came from," She didn't seem to be listening, talking to Reina as if trying to block out the bad news.

	The girls both turned to frown at him, at the squeeze. "Bring them back," Fi whined, arms crossing over her chest. "Sofia," Greg sounded sad, reaching out for a hand through her hair that she dodged. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

"I wish we could, baby." Ray felt like screaming and crying and throwing things. He could deal with losing Orlinda and Mark, but he didn't know how to help Reina and Sofia deal with losing their mother and brother. And he had yet to tell them Drew and Karen were gone as well. And given the randomness of those people going missing, Ray wouldn't be surprised if other people were randomly gone too.

	"Find them!" She was crying now, right along with Reina as they held up a united front, arms crossed and pouts firmly in place. "There's nothing to find, baby, I- we looked. Fi-" Greg frowned, reaching for her again, getting slapped away this time. "No!" She stood, vaulting the couch and heading back to her room, Reina quick in tow. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	Ray leaned back. "Let them go." He understood their need for time. Ray and Greg were the bad guy, now. "They'll settle down." And then, learn that Drew and Karen were gone too. Ray looked hopelessly at Greg. "Fuck." (Reply to this) (Parent)
