It took a second of staring, the girls waiting for Ray to elaborate, say she was on a trip or something. That Marky just went to see his mommy. But the news never came, and Ray got matching quivering lips for it, Sofia's eyebrows furrowing in a familiar sort of denying pout.

Greg sat back, helpless, just watching the girls with a sad sort of expression on his face. "Baby, it's true. None of Mami's things are here. Marky either. Things like that happen hre.
