WHO: Gabriel and Lilo
WHAT: Kid watching!
WHERE: Their house in Hawaii
WARNINGS: Probably not.

Things had been refreshingly calm lately, though Gabriel still said the rituals every night to watch over absent family members. He'd done his best at the hospital, and enjoyed the time he had with Lilo. However, things had been kind of calm.

He was calling Lilo right now, hoping she was home to pick up. A coworker of his was in a bind, and he thought he might just be able to help.

	She was; she'd come in from surfing and taken a shower. When he called, she was bundled up on the sofa in a fuzzy robe and slippers. "Hey, you! How are you doing, besides being handsome?" (Reply to this)

	"I was going to watch a movie and maybe try to get you to put it in me, but that's it." She sprawled out on the sofa, trying to to giggle when Danger made fake horfing noises. (Reply to this)

	"I wondered if you might be okay with watching my coworker's little girl." Gabe said, grinning. "He needs a babysitter since he got stuck with an extra shift, and his wife is out of town." (Reply to this)

	"She's good with the toilet, apparently, so that's okay. Her name is Maria, and she's apparently a talker." Gabe chuckled. "She's a smart kid, but at the same time, y'know, she's two. Maybe we should warn the zoo." (Reply to this)

	"I'm on it, pip pip, over and out, see you soon!" Lilo hung up the phone before scooting back to the bedroom to put on clothes. She yelled 'FAMILY MEETING' which drew the animals scampering, and then she sat and explained that a human puppy/piglet/kitten was coming over and they had to be extra, extra gentle with it because its fur hadn't grown in yet. 	Gabe came home after a few hours with Maria in his arms. She was tired, but still awake and shyly interested. He'd explained they had some animals, and they could play together if she was careful. He opened the door, looking around. "Lilo! Kids! Come and meet Maria, but be nice!" (Reply to this)

	Lilo came out carefully with Tensia and Dennis trailing her. Danger had gone to sleep in the chandelier - that way her sensitive tail wouldn't get pulled - and Barty was letting his braver counterpart test the waters. "Hi, Maria, I'm Lilo." 	"Hi Lilo." The little girl mustered a shy smile. Gabe smiled. "That's my wife," he told Maria. "She's a mommy to our cat and our other animals." Maria blinked. "Animals?" (Reply to this)

	Lilo smiled. "Yup, we have lots of pets." She picked up Dennis, holding her like a baby. The dog was polite, inquisitively sniffing the air but not the girl herself. (Reply to this)

	Gabe came over, approaching slowly. "Maria, do you like puppies? This is Dennis." Maria nodded, reaching out a little hand. She patted Dennis, not scratching, but up and down. "Daddy says doggy bad," she told Lilo. (Reply to this)

	"Some doggies don't know how to behave, but Dennis is a good girl." She smiled and it got much broader when Dennis gently rest her head on the little girl's leg. (Reply to this)

	"Good girl, Dennis." Gabe said. He knew his animals would be good for a little girl, but it was still nice to see. Maria giggled a little, and started squirming. Gabe put her down, and she walked over to where Lilo and Dennis were standing. "Pretty." (Reply to this)

	Lilo put Dennis down so that Maria could pet her before settling down on the floor herself. "Are you excited to stay here with us for a little while? Your daddy will be back soon, promise." She couldn't help but laugh when Dennis showed the little girl her tummy. (Reply to this)

Maria nodded. "Daddy at work helping."

Gabe chuckled. "Maria knows her daddy fixes people when they get hurt. She said it's like he's being everyone's daddy!"

Maria nodded firmly, sitting on her feet as she patted Dennis carefully. "Daddy fixes my booboos, and now he fix other people's booboos too."

"Yep." Gabe nodded, grinning. This kid was adorable. Out of the corner of his eye, he thought he saw a flash of pink piglet. "Hortensia?" he called. "Want to come meet the little human?"

	"Your daddy is really nice to do that. Gabey fixes my boo-boos too." Lilo smiled, calling Tensia over. "Tensia, it's okay, come meet the human piglet. She's really nice!" Lilo smiled when the little girl came to climb into her lap. Humming a little, Lilo proceeded to braid her hair. (Reply to this)

	Hortensia came over carefully. She didn't talk, instead cautiously nosing her way toward Lilo. She started sniffing the air, then sniffing at the little girl's hair. Maria made a noise that sounded like alarm to Gabe, and he spoke up. "It's okay, Maria! Pigs sniff you to learn about you, cause they can't see as good as humans. She's just learning." 	Lilo smiled, kissing the little girl on the forehead. "It's her way of saying hello. She wonders who you are! I promise, soon she'll give you little piggy kisses. She's not as cute as you, though." Lilo continued to hum, still braiding the little girl's hair. (Reply to this)

	"See?" She likes you." Taking off the translator collars for the day had been the right idea. Soon the tiny pig clambered up into Maria's lap, which made Lilo laugh. "We're an awesome sammitch!" She couldn't help but beam at Gabe. Oh, how she wanted one of these for their own. (Reply to this)

Gabe laughed and came over to squish onto the couch, on the other side of Lilo. "A double decker! Do you like Hortensia, Maria?"

Maria nodded hard, her dark hair flying. "Never saw a live piggy before. Only ham."

Gabe's eyes went briefly wide, hoping Hortensia wouldn't make the connection, otherwise he'd have an upset piglet on his hands. For now he just smiled. "Hortensia came from a place where pigs are allowed to live so they don't go hungry."

	Lilo nodded hard. "She's kind of like our baby now, just like you're your mommy and daddy's baby." She giggled, play snuffling on the little girl's neck, causing her to giggle happily. While doing so, she stroked Hortensia, hoping that she'd be okay. (Reply to this)
