What: Rendesvous
When: When Jack arrived
Warnings: Violence, Language, and Sex Likely

Ennis made his way to the town at the foot of the mountain, irritated and annoyed by the inconvenience. He secound guessed himself all the way, thinking he ought to have made Jack find his way to Ennis.

He'd left the relative warmth of his trailer, to go out looking for the immature and irresponsible bastard. He hadn't seen Jack since the summer they'd spent on Brokeback. Ennis had married and had two beautiful baby girls, since then. Never mind that Alma and the girls were nowhere to be found, and never mind that Ennis was just fine with that.

Sure he'd miss them. Junior and Jenny were his children, but he'd never really found his niche with the babies. Junior cried all the time and Jenny did little more than eat and poop. Jack, on the other hand...

No. he wouldn't think about that. He was going to find the man to help him out, make sure he didn't freeze to death, on the side of a mountain. Ennis found his way to the bar in the center of town. If Jack wasn't there, he'd head up the mountain, after he had a few beers in him.

He stepped inside, squinting into the smokey darkness, inhaling the sweet scent of stale beer and peanuts, sweat and cattle. Home, he thought. it felt like coming home, even if he didn't know anyone on the place. His eyes scanned, looking for that one familiar face...

"I got me some land 'bout an hour from here." Ennis didn't look back, but kept walking toward his truck. His swagger was more self assured than it had been before, despite the knots twisting in his gut.

"An' a truck to get us there, right? I need t'fuckin' rest before I walk somewhere else, cowboy," Jack moved to walk next to him, hands shoved in his pockets to fight off the urge to touch Ennis.

"I got my truck, Rodeo," Ennis replied. He inclined his head toward the truck, a beat up old model.

Jack smiled with a low, sarcastic wolf whistle, walking around the front of the truck to hop into the passenger side. "My chariot awaits, huh?"

"'Less you'd rather walk," Ennis answered, slipping in behind the wheel.

"Didn't say that, did I?" Jack chuckled, moving to prop a knee against the dash and relax back against the seat.

"Just wake me when we get there." And, tilting his cowboy hat over his eyes, he settled in to nod off for a while.

Ennis opened his mouth to say something more, but a glance at Jack getting comfortable cut him short. He didn't care much for words, anyway.

He drove in silence, until they reached the farm he managed. He had no idea how or why, but the land, the homestead, and the animals seemed to be his.

If the lurch of the truck didn't wake Jack, the barking dogs might, as the canines rushed out to greet their master.

Jack was jarred awake by the barking dogs, starting and putting his leg down to look out the window. "Shit, cowboy, 'em yours?" He hesitantly opened the door, lowering himself down out of the truck and steeling for the barrage of the dogs.

"Them dogs come with th'land," Ennis answered. He shooed the dogs off, though the dogs paid him no mind. They converged at Jack's feet, barking and sniffing at the stranger until Ennis batted at them and stuck his boot between them, and the pair of them went running off toward the barn.

The words finally caught up with Jack's exhausted brain. "Wait- this's your land? Hot damn," He started for the barn a ways off, more interested in that than rest, for the minute.

Ennis shrugged. "I reckon."

"What're you lookin' at?" He wasn't shy about pulling the door open once he came up on it, heading in to look over the horses.

The barn was modern, fancy, well built and built to last. There were no less than ten stalls, half occupied. Ennis blinked, at the unexpected addition of another five horses, giving each stall an occupant. He walked to the nearest one, and the massive beast huffled at him, mouthing his palm looking for a treat.

"That don't make no damn sense at all," he muttered. "Th'hell'd you come from?"

Jack was taken off-guard by a painted mare knocking her head against his shoulder, turning to her with a strange little look as he stroked her neck. "Friendly, ain't they? Shit, an' it's all yours?"

"I ain't never seen them five a'fore," Ennis said, gesturing with a hand at the new arrivals. He shook his head. "Don't make no sense."

He scowled. "Think someone else might've-?" And then he caught up.

"Where's the papers, cowboy? For the ranch'n'at."

"All a'that's inna house," Ennis answered, waving a hand back behind him. He scowled at Jack. "Y'don't s'pose..." He shook his head. "I ain't gonna be surprised by nothin' in this place."

"Might as well go look. 'Can't think of no better reason, that horse's taken a shine to me already." He gave a heavy pat to the mare's shoulder, earning him another nudge.

"Show me a horse ain't takin' no shine to you, Rodeo." Ennis shook his head as he led the way toward the main house. It was a modest single story rancher, with a three car garage attached. A brand new pick up was in the garage, though Ennis preferred the older model he drove.

Jack grinned, "Yeah, after work, an' a bit of charmin'. Don't usually get right on with 'em." The house was modest, but better than he'd had before, even with Lureen's dad's influence. He spared a glance to the truck, but continued to follow Ennis into the house, looking around.

"S'a nice place."

Ennis nodded. He keyed the door open and stepped inside, into a spacious kitchen. The room was was nearly as big as the entire apartment he and Alma had shared over the laundromat. Ennis went to the drawer of a built in desk beside the fridge and pawed through a stack of papers.

"I'll be damned." He shook his head, and held out the deed to the house and the land to Jack.

"What, s'it-?" He glanced over the papers, a slow smirk taking over his face when he saw the name that was on his ID listed as a cosigner.

"Well, shit." He'd had an inkling, of course, that he was the reason the place suddenly doubled in size. But to see it was real, well. He couldn't help but laugh softly.

It was the life he'd always wanted, and all it took was falling out of the sky, and into the future, to get it.

"Sum'n like that," He deliberately folded the papers in his hands, setting them aside so he could step up to Ennis and grab him by the shoulders to take a rough kiss. He wasn't in the habit of initiating the contact, but he figured right then, Ennis would let it slide.

All at once, Jack would have found himself backed up to the nearest counter, with the weight of Ennis pressed agianst him. Mouths crashed together in a fiery kiss, and Ennis' hands were ten times more insistent than outside the bar, in the task of divesting Jack of his clothes.
