Darius knocked on his uncle's door, adjusting his jacket in his arms. True to his words, he'd come as soon as he could get out of the house, and his hair was still wet as a result.

The outside of the house was nearly pristine, though that didn't mean much. None of them had ever wanted for money, so it was distinctly possible that the person caring for the garden wasn't Alex.

Still, it was something noteworthy that Alex was putting effort into the facade of normality.

"I can't help but wonder where the ride's going. I haven't heard of people being abducted for reasons that don't fit squarely under the category of 'nefarious'. This could even be a dastardly plot."

He toyed with the corner of the napkin around his silverware. "I just don't like being shunted around against my will, and dropped into a universe where all the people I know and love are different."

He ran his hand through his hair. "Maybe I shouldn't be living with Emma after all. Seeing her act like she does just seems to drive the point that she's not my mother home even more."

Darius quite enjoys salads. He doesn't know why.

"Not really, no. I've just been kind of running on snark since I got here, and back home I was helping and identified as the son of the two most prevalent mutant rights leaders. Which was alright when I was a kid, but then stuff hit the fan, and even though I'm not a mutant, I was suddenly not safe because of my family."

	"No X-men either, so it wouldn't matter anyway." He's not sure how he feels about that. I might just go back to the base.
