It was hard not to notice the 6'4" middle aged man sprawled across one of the three sofas in the little cafe just off Venice Beach. He had a large mug of latte on the table nearby, a cigarette between his lips (Smoking ban be damned!) and a guitar across his chest. He was playing some sort of allegro, though allegro would be considered slow compared to what he was doing just then. His dyed black hair was in his face as he played, spilling over his shoulders and over his eyes. But his tattoos were prominent enough to give away just who he was, if the rest didn't.
This was his version of waiting patiently.

It was entirely possible that Lulu would have gotten flirted with less if she wore appropriate clothing. It was also equally possible that Lulu didn't own any appropriate clothing for any situation that wasn't a fetish ball or going out dancing. She'd worn something somewhat modest - more cleavage than legs instead of both - and a jacket that hopefully covered up both.

Pushing into the shop, she smiled when she heard the guitar. "You're going to break a string."

He turned to look at her and smiled around the cigarette before setting it aside in an ashtray that apparently someone had slipped him from the back room. "P'fft. Breaks a strings. I ain'ts does on that in years." He stood and looked at her with a bit of amusement, "You is wayless talls den I thoughts you was beings of." He didn't seem upset by that, as he offered his hand, his guitar still in the other. "Is goods to meets on you in person, finallies."

Then, he nodded to the counter, "Gets anythings you wants on. Tells dem to puts it on my tab? Is okays, dey knows at me." His accent was typical Swedish for his home reality, but wholly displaced everywhere else as stereotypical Scandinavian.

	Lulu looked up as he stood, eyebrow arching upward. "And I wasn't expecting a Ronso." She chuckled and shook her head as she shook his hand. "It's nice to meet you as well." He shook his head at her question, motioning vaguely to his latte, which was still cooling, "I is gots a thing. Goes ahead." He dropped back onto the couch, sitting up this time as he started to play once again. It was as natural to him as breathing. The electric guitar was hooked up to an amp which was set at a moderate volume, just loud enough where it could be heard over the general murmurings of the cafe, but loud enough to drown out conversations. He continued with his vivace, which was almost playful, but like a wolf puppy, it had teeth and claws and was fully wild. He let the cigarette smolder in the ashtray as he played, watching Lulu idly. He wondered what a Ronso was, and why he was one.

She ordered two shots of espresso, no cream, in a larger glass, as well as a strawberry tart. Once they were ready, she walked back over to Skwisgarr to sit down next to him.

Since her coffee was still piping hot, she nibbled on the tart while waiting for it to cool. "You've played a very long time, haven't you." It was less a question and more a statement. In her mind, it explained a lot; it was hard to date girls when you were in love with music.

He nodded once, before explaining, "Hn, ja, I plays for since I is four years olds? I is once de most young childs prodigy on guitars, plays de largest opera house in Swedens when I is was six. Plays in just abouts every metals band, an' finally asplodes de world with how awesome I plays." He said it so matter-of-factly that it didn't even seem to have a hint of ego in it.

"Buts I digress. How does you likes on dis worlds, Lulu? Is you adjustings well?"

"Exploded the world? Could you please not do that here?" She smiled to herself a bit, and shook her head at him. She plucked a strawberry from the center of her pastry, nibbling it daintily while she thought about his question.

"I like not fighting fiends - monsters, I guess you'd call them. I miss my friends, though. But I'm making new ones. I guess it all evens out. What about you?"

"Don'ts worry, I thinks it takes all fives of us doings on it to makes de world asplodes on itselfs?" It wasn't really a question, but sometimes he just phrased things like that. Skwisgaar didn't pause in his playing as he thought, though the song shifted into something more fluidly paced, easy to follow as he did.

"Hn, ja, I is likes on it pretty okays. Is not full of stupid dildos fans all overs. And I gots de young me to keeps me a companies. And now I gots a real roadies to boss arounds and gets me drinks an' stuffs. Pickle is here, dat's is pretty metal, I guess." He shrugged one shoulder, "An' my nieces."

"Still. If all of you show up, please don't. I've got more things I'd like to do before the world explodes. I'd have to kill you all or something, and that's not as fun as it sounds." She winked to let him know she was kidding before taking a sip of her coffee.

The chair she was sitting on was plush, and she snuggled backward into it, feeling comfortable enough to take off her jacket. He was going to ogle anyway. "You have nieces? How old?"

He did ogle, though only briefly. He got a fond enough smile to show that he was very connected to the bit of family he'd gotten in the days after Dethklok. "Eighteen ands 25. I also gots one dats is twelve. But she ain'ts comes to here."

His smile was warmer when he spoke, "Glyndaa Marie is de eighteens years old, she is de bests of de batch. I is likes on her, vury good girls, gots a good strong personalities."

He shook his head, "I wouldn'ts believes on dat a few sorts of years ago. I ain'ts no sorts of good families, de families I is knows on afores? Woulds has lets dem dies in a fires before I talks to dems." His playing got a bit ragged and frantic at the very edges, though his face remained calm. "Sometimes I is you knows, thinks I gots a vury luckies when I starts a thinkings on my new families."

He turned to Lulu, "Does you has families?"

"You've got your friends, they're a sort of family, aren't they?" She set her glass down and recrossed her legs, trying to get comfortable.

When he asked about her family, her smile settled into something that was joyless and sad, a forced smile she was used to giving. "My parents died when I was a baby, and the people who took care of me when I was a child. I had no siblings. My fiance died seven or so years ago. My friends are my family now."

"Brutal." Was all he had to contribute to that. "To tells you a truths... De families I gots on is more is friends den anythings else. I is an only childs on myselfs, too. My nieces is my Toki's kids. Sorts of things. Period."

He was nervous talking about it, it was really hard to explain the family dynamic, not to mention, he was used to people not knowing about himself and the other guitarist. It was for publicity at first, but that was over twenty years ago.

Skwisgaar shrugged one shoulder, "Ja, a bits. I thinks on dat he is probablies missings on me more? I can deals with its. He can'ts. He is, you knows," He started sounding just the slightest bit condescending in amongst great fondness, "He is a sorts of big babies abouts a sorts of thing, ja, gots a vury hard sorts of heartbreaks if he is leaves alones. But dens agains... He is gots his wife and Torii stills, I thinks dats is pretty good. I gots to sees on his young selfs backs a couple months ago? Dats was pretty sorts of metal."

He lit up another cigarette and smiled, "De only families I really gots on is Glyndaa Marie. She is... differents."

It made more sense as to why he was the way that he was, and she reached out to pat him on the leg in what she hoped appeared a consoling (not coddling) manner.

She didn't even know what to say anymore, so she looked at her hands. "That reminds me of Yuna. Chappu - my fiance - after he died, he made me look after his brother. Who was sort of family. But Yuna was like my baby sister. We'd even grown up together."

Physical contact meant more to him than any words. His smile tilted and he patted her back lightly, despite the thick callouses on his fingertips. "Dat's is a good sorts of thing to has on. Toki is was sorts of grows up with me? We is was kinda kids when we meets. Nots as much as kids as he knews on Stephanies with? But close 'noughs to counts." He took a drag of his cigarette and set the guitar down. "Buts dis is depressings on me. You is says on dat you has a store? Does you likes on it vury much?"

	Lulu was glad for the subject change; it was reminding her how much she missed Yuna and Wakka. Even Sir Auron or Tidus would have been welcome. "I like my shop. He took the card and also pulled out his wallet to stick it in with the rest. "Ja, uh. I don'ts really likes on toys so much. Toki is has a toy and candystores back homes. He likes on toys a whole lots. He is even sews his own bears togethers. An' puts togethers a model planes."

Skwisgaar finally picked up his latte and took a sip of it before taking a drag of his cigarette, "Toys is... dey grows on me, a little bits."
