Knowing that Navi had picked out the perfect pet for the two of them really came at no surprise. She had that quality about her, something that didn't have a name, but definitely existed. With one look, or just a smile, sbe could completely change a situation. If there was real darkness in the world, then she was the light, the brightest there had ever been. She just made everything feel perfect. That was her magic. And it could be applied to picking out pets. She had a brilliant mind, of course, but more than that she just knew. After looking at the picture, Alec was sure she was right, and now he was looking forward to coming home even more than usual, which was quite a bit.

Home. That's right. They lived together now, everything was settled into the apartment that they shared, and it had instantly became the home he imagined it always would be. Going to sleep with her in his arms, waking up to the sight of her, it was like a dream come true. A dream he enver realized he had, but a dream nonetheless, and things couldn't get better. He'd just finished up some lessons at the gym and was in the process of cleaning up. A quick shower, just enough to rinse the sweat off, and a change into clean clothing. He was saying bye to everyone as he was jogging across the mats and making his way to the door. No time to spare, as far as he was concerned. His trusty means of transporation, the bike, was waiting for him outside. He'd already figured out a short cut to getting home, it happened when you went back and forth every day, and it wasn't any time before he was parking at the apartment complex.

The stairs all the way up to their aparment were even't a hastle anymore, especially when he was in such a good mood, he took them two at a time with a smile on his lips. She was already home, so he left his keys in his pockets and stepped inside, not being able to help but grin that much more. "Baby? Not hiding, are you?" Oh, she loved that, didn't she? One time he'd come home and she had almost scared him to death. Of course the way she giggled afterwards, he couldn't help but laugh.

"Lucky huh?" Arms remained locked around her when she kissed him on the chin. "Think I'm the lucky one." When she asked him about his day, he pulled her just a little closer, giving a small shrug of his shoulders at the same time. "Normal. Gave some lessons, trained, nothing out of the ordinary." After hearing her make the claim about paint, he inspected her hair carefully, not able to keep from laughing. "Let's just call it unique highlights. It's cute."

A ferret wasn't something he had thought about, but once she mentioned it, it seemed perfect. His knowledge was a little limited but that just made wanting to learn about it even better. "We'll ferret-rig the apartment. You don't need to worry, we're going to take care of it."

"Hey, I'm lucky too!" Navi ran her fingers through Alec's hair, sighing a little. She knew that Alec was what most women considered handsome. He was also brilliant by any standard, and talented - she knew how fortunate she was, and she didn't mind telling him. When he found the paint in her hair, she giggled. "It's washable, I'll get it out later."

She'd thought hard about what pet suited both of them. Dogs were pretty much out - she'd feel too guilty about cooping it up, and had suspected Alec of feeling the same. Ditto with birds. Cats could be lazy, and they were both energetic people. Ferrets seemed the natural conclusion. "I won't worry. We're going to be good ferret parents, I know it."

There wasn't any doubt in his mind that their pet wasn't going to be taken care of better than most people could imagine. He'd seen the way that Navi tended to her plants, making sure they were always healthy, had plenty of sunlight and anything else that they needed. So any pet of theirs was going to get plenty of attention. Plus, a ferret seemed like a great choice. It was small enough that the apartment would be perfect for it, it was curious and energetic, it'd keep them on their toes. He was looking forward to it.

"What do you want to do first? Go by the pet store and pick up all the supplies? Or adopt the ferret first?" It was up to her, he figured they could take a taxi, which made him think it'd be smart to get some kind of car. With the bonus from his next fight, he'd be able to pull it off.

"We should probably get the stuff first, so that way if he's sleepy, he can go to bed right away and stuff." She'd moved her hands so they were lightly running up and down his back, grinning up at him. "We can get a taxi, do all that, then go to the shelter and see if we want him. Easier to return the cage and stuff than a living thing."

She bounced off to go get her purse, which was really more a bag that she slung around her shoulder. She squeezed his hand once she'd reclaimed it, barely able to contain her excitement. She was thrilled that Alec wanted to do this with her; living with someone that could take care of themselves was one thing, but willingly saying that he'd help take care of another life was something else entirely.

"Pet store it is. We can get one of those three level cages, with all the toys inside, and a hammock. And maybe one of those giant plastic balls. They're going to have lots of stuff." Alec was going through all of the possibilities in his head, which in turn, made him smile that much more. They were going to have an animal to take care of, a responsibility that they could share, it was a big step, at least that was how he thought of it.

He waited in the living room as she bounced off to get her purse, watching her with an amused look, she always kept things interested. Once she was back, he was almost instantly holding her hand, it'd become second nature. "You ready then? 'Cause by the time we get back, we won't be the only ones here anymore."

	Navi was fairly bouncing, half dragging Alec toward the door. "I'm really... I'm really excited," she murmured, pausing for a moment to look back at him. "Thanks for doing this. It wasn't difficult to tell when Navi was excited, she almost literally glowed, and there was the smile on her lips that could melt anyone's heart. Not that he was any less happy, he was looking forward to it just as much, but it was much better to watch her response to it. "You don't need to thank me. I want this too...something for both of us to take care of." It was literally another addition to their family, and yes, he did consider her his family.

With her hand held in his own, he moved out the door with her, and down the steps. While she had been off to get her purse, he'd made sure that a cab was going to be there. Once they were close to the street, he pulled her in close, knowing their ride would be there in just a minute.

Navi nodded, tiptoeing up to kiss him on the mouth. "Still. Not many guys - from what I've read, I don't honestly know - would want to take care of things. Then again, I don't know if the television and internet are really reliable sources in this context." She squeezed his hand as they walked down the stairs. Alec was her family, and they were adding to it. They were almost like parents, and it made her heart beat faster. She was no stranger to caretaking; she'd done so for the Kokiri children after Link's adventures, but she'd never taken care of something that was fuzzy. It would be a fun new departure.

When the taxi arrived, she climbed in, waiting for him to give directions to the cabbie before resting her head on his shoulder. "Still surprised you love me as much as you do. I don't know if that's something that I should get used to or not."

Alec kissed her back softly, only for a second or two, just enjoying the way her lips felt when they were pressed against his own. "Maybe you're right. But most guys don't have such a loving and fun girlfriend like you." Responsibility was something that he'd usually ducked in the past, but it was a step that he wanted to take with her, especially when it made her smile as much as she was right then.

He climbed into the taxi, sitting near her, though he leaned forward to tell the driver where they were going. With the location out of the way, he slipped one arm around her body, smiling when she laid her head on his shoulder. "It's hard to get use to. Never had anyone love me the way you do either. And you keep making it better...never know what's going to happen next. I like it."

"Well, I guess I'm glad that you're you and I'm me, then." Together, they made the magic that they'd seemed to be lacking in their own separate worlds. She felt her thumb running over the skin of his knuckles, smiling at the strength of them.

She curled into his side, seeking out his free hand and idly rubbing the knuckles. "I love you more than I thought I could love anything. And that's our life now. One big adventure together. When's your next fight? I wanna go, but I'll need a new dress."

It was oddly comfortable in the taxi, he usually didn't like going anywhere if he wasn't the one driving, and especially not in a cab, but having Navi there with him made it that much better. The driver wasn't asking any questions, he was just taking them to where they wanted to go, which was fine by Alec. "Our big adventure? I like the sound of that." He was planning on quite a few things, some he hadn't shared with her yet, but he soon would.

"I have another fight in two weeks. Basically a week and a half of training and then time to make weight." It'd never been hard for Alec to cut weight, guess Manticore had seen to that, so he wasn't worried. "I can't wait to see you in a dress." She always looked beautiful, incredibly so, but when she had her hair down...wearing a dress...there wasn't anything like it. Words didn't do her justice.

The cab was warm, and she burrowed into her boyfriend a bit more, feeling content and safe. She was sure once they bought the ferret's cage - and the ferret itself - she'd start squealing and bouncing, but for that moment, she felt completely at peace.

"You'll do it," she murmured, kissing his neck gently. "And that gives me time to go back and buy the dress I saw the other day. I made a new friend, and we went shopping for girlie things together." Navi giggled, thinking of what she'd bought. Alec wasn't the only one with cards up his sleeve.

He hadn't ever imagined that a cab could be this comfortable, but he attributed that more to Navi, than the car itself. His arm was around her shoulders, holding her close to his body, the scent of her filling his senses. It was a strange kind of contentment. It wasn't that he was any less happy or excited, just that he felt at peace right then, especially when she looked so content.

"I know. Especially now that I have a fan." He meant her, of course, and he pulled her closer when she kissed his neck. "New friend, huh? Went shopping with her? Now I'm going to wonder what you bought." He was glad she was going out with her friends, he wasn't that selfish, especially when he got to see her all the time.

"Or is that a surprise?" He did want to see her in a dress, he knew how incredible she looked.

"Mmm," Navi smiled, wrapping an arm around Alec's torso. "Her name's Katya, she needed help with lingerie. So I've got the stuff for under the dress, just need to go back and get the dress now." She nosed her way to his neck, kissing gently. "We both have things to look forward to!"

She also looked forward to their post-fight tradition, though she left that unspoken.

"From my personal experience...you have very good taste in lingerie, so she was in good hands." He let his eyes shut or a moment when she kissed his neck again, lips still curled into a slight smile, the rest of the world pretty much didn't exist. He wanted to see how beautiful she was going to look in her dress, but he wasn't going to deny being excited about what she would be wearing underneath it. "You always give me something to look forward to."

The car came to a stop, he glanced out of the window, seeing the pet store. He leaned forward and gave the driver the money for the trip before he slid out of the seat, pulling Navi with him. He knew they were about to go inside, but he leaned down and kissed her deeply anyway, if only to get it out of his system for a second.

"I just get what's comfy and what I think is pretty. I told her to do the same thing. You can't be pretty if you're in pain, that's what I think." The taxi ride was too long and too short at the same time; she wanted to hurry and get their pet and play, but she wanted him to hold her forever. The car stopping made her decision for her, and she felt Alec pull her out of the cab with him.

She'd been about to squeak when Alec kissed her deeply, cutting off the sound and turning it into a low purr. She was grinning when he held the door to the pet store open for her, walking on air toward the ferret supplies.

"You never disappoint. So I''m sure that she's going to be fine." Of course he always wanted to see the kind of lingerie that Navi had gotten for herself. It was exciting, to have someone like that, someone that was willing to try new things. It applied to every aspect of life, of course, but that one was particularly exciting. He had been ready to get out of the cab, but at the same time, he wished he could still be holding her.

He smirked against her lips when she all but purred and then they moved towards the pet store, he held the door ope and then moved in behind her. She was moving straight towards the ferret supplies, and he grinned a little, make sure to keep up.

"I think the first thing we should look for is what kind of house to get him." Alec kind of did consider it a house, cause it was a lot more than a cage, when you looked at the ones they had on display. He wanted something that would have plenty of room for toys and stuff for the ferret to exercise with.

"She's beautiful anyway, so she'll be fine no matter what she does. I want her legs," Navi mused. Katya had long legs, mostly because she was taller than Navi, but still. She wiggled her toes inside of her tennis shoes, feeling comfortable and safe inside of Alec's t-shirt and her jeans.

It warmed her heart to hear Alec talk about their pet's new home instead of just his cage. "I agree." She grinned back at him, looking at some of the larger structures available. She paced around, then pointed at a black wire one that had three tiers and was wide enough for a creature of middling size to stretch out in. "Do you like that one?"

"That right? 'Cause me, I'm kind of partial to the ones you have now." Alec would have loved Navi no matter what, there was no doubt in his mind about that, but he'd still admit she was that much more attractive because of her height. Oddly, he'd usually dated girls that were fairly short, and she fell into the category.

He was doing his best to keep up with her, smiling to himself as she paced back and forth, looking at all of the different things they had to offer. The one that she was pointing at now was fairly large, more than enough for a ferret, and there would be no problem with putting toys and a hammock in it. "I think, as usual, your taste is perfect."

"Well, good, 'cause I doubt I can trade mine in." She squeezed his hand, glad he liked her as much as she liked him. That was the best part of their relationship. In so many Navi saw, the love seemed scattered, but with them, it was perfectly equal. She loved him 100%, just as much as he loved her.

Once he'd agreed to the cage, Navi bounded over to a clerk to get it set at the register while they picked out toys. "IF I was a ferret, what would I want to play with," she murmured, returning to Alec's side.

"Wouldn't dream of it. Love every part of you as they are." Alec would admit that he'd been fairly shallow with girlfriends of the past, but there was honestly nothing about Navi he would change. She was extremely beautiful, perfect in every way, there wasn't anything more that he could ask for. What made it the best was that he knew she felt the same. He didn't ever have to worry about anything like that.

He laughed to himself a little when Navi went bouncing off, though he did enjoy the view, even if he was keeping that to himself. By the time she returned, he was looking at all of the toys they had, inspecting them closely. "We should get him tunnels..and um, something colorful. What do you think?"

Navi wouldn't lie; she loved staring at Alec. But she wouldn't have fallen in love with him if he'd just been pretty. He was strong and kind and funny, and had a fierce sort of integrity that she respected.

When she was back at his side, she nodded at his statement, then thought a bit more. "and stuff to chew on. I hear they like nibbling. Sort of like this boyfriend I know."

Alec reached out and grabbed a couple of toys from the shelf. Namely a set of three multi-colored plastic balls that made noise when they were pushed around and played with. He had also grabbed a couple of stuff mice, the kind that cats played with, figuring that a ferret would enjoy it too. He looked over his shoulder at Navi and grinned.

"Likes nibbling, huh? Do tell me more about this 'boyfriend' character. Really, he sounds intriguing. Maybe even mysterious."

	Navi inspected some wooden chewy toys, picking some up. "Oh, you haven't met my boyfriend? He's pretty much perfect looking. His smile makes my knees go all wobbly. His voice is enough to make my heart do flippies, and I sort of love him to no end. I should introduce you." She winked at him before grabbing a litter box and some litter. Alec watched her pick out some more toys, he didn't care if they spoiled their pet, it was something they should be allowed to do. It was the first one for either of them, and something that they were doing together, so it was understandable that they'd both be excited about it. He took the litter box and litter from her, not wanting to make her carry it.

"Enough to make a man jealous. Sounds like some kind of fairy tale prince." He was just teasing her, he might think a lot of himself, but he was never serious about things like that, at least not that far. He moved in closer to her, still smiling, just because she was putting him in an even better mood. "Of course you're the perfect princess. Beautiful, smart...love to sweep you off your feet."
