Who: Parvati Patil and Mikael Harper
What: The 'happy' couple talk. And one tries not to murder the other.
Where: Charing Cross Station
When: Thursday June 20th
Rating: E
Status: Closed/Complete

Parvati had not been lying when she said she was ready for an arranged marriage. It was just a different type she had expected. She had hoped her parents would beat the Ministry in finding her somebody, but she realised too late she had been way too picky. So now she was stuck with a guy who took longer doing his hair than she did. He was grouchy and egotistical. The worst part was that her parents would die when they found out. Their dreams of a nice Indian wedding would be forever squashed.

To say she was angry was an understatement. In retrospect Parvati had not accepted the announcement as gracefully as she could have. Mikael was probably taking that better than her. Still, she was disappointed. He brought out the worst in her. She just wanted to annoy him every time they spoke. Not to mention he had called her a girly girl.

After takling the longest shower in history to calm down, Parvati found herself calmed down enough to face her-she couldn't even really think the word. She threw on a random outfit and hurried to Charing Cross Station, not looking forward to dinner at all.

"My family is in Southampton," Mikael pointed out. "No worries, I can floo over whenever I want. We'll get something close to your boutique." He decided, lacking real enthusiasm for it though. He liked living in Chelsea and it had taken ages to get the apartment exactly the way he wanted. Well, he'd have to live with it.

"Seems totally surreal, doesn't it?"

"Surreal is definitely one word for it." Horrible was another. Parvati picked the strawberry off the rim of her cup and nibbled on it. "You don't have to sound so horrified at the thought of leaving your place you know. If you really want to stay there I suppose we could. I would just have to find some way to work."

"I don't sound horrified," Mikael protested, playing absently-minded with the napkin on the table.

"It's okay. We are forced to marry, so we can at least make this bearable. That includes finding a place that is close to your work."

"Well I certainly don't want to hear you mourning your apartment. Anyways, did they say we had to live together? If so we may want to add a huge bathroom or two on the list of potential homes." Parvati smiled, noticing Mikael was not looking her way. What she had in mind was childish. Horrible. She took the green of her strawberry and set it on her fork. Biting on her lower lip she catapulted the green from her fork to the front of his shirt. "Oops."

"I won't be mourning my apartment, no worries. And no, they didn't say that we actually had to live together, but I have the feeling that they'll pay us a visit if we don't."

Raising an eyebrow Mikael looked at the offending thing on his shirt before he looked up at Parvati, trying not to smirk.

"Why thank you, what a thoughtful gift. I can show that to our grandchildren and tell them how we first met and how you used to throw things at me." Picking up the green of the strawberry he couldn't help but smirk.

"I should give that one a place of honour, in a glass box where everyone can see it."

Parvati was biting her bottom lip, trying hard not to laugh. This whole situation was ridiculous. "Throw things at you? I have only thrown one thing at you. So far." She winked, giggling a little.

"I'm sorry. I think the lack of sleep is finally getting to me. I still have all those dresses to finish on top of this now. If you're lucky I'll keel over before the wedding."

"So far, emphasis on so far." Mikael chuckled.

"Don't be sorry, that's more than okay. Ministry seems to be good for your business but adding a whole lot or work, huh? And I wouldn't call that luck. More the opposite."

Parvati smiled, shaking her head. "I don't mind the business. It means more profits and a lot of happy brides. Or at least I like to think they'll be happy brides. If not at least they'll have wonderful gowns to be happy about."

"And I promise not to throw anything else... Okay, I promise not to throw anything really dangerous at you. Or to keel over before the wedding."

"Promise me that you won't keel over after the wedding either. Can't have that. And as long as you don't throw dangerous things at me I am perfectly happy." Mikael replied, gesturing for the waiter to refill their glasses.

Parvati looked at the table for a moment then smiled. She took the box with the necklace in it and rolled it in her hands. "So. Your mother and I will plan the wedding. You need to get measurements done for your sherwani. Also, we're staying in your apartment for now. I hardly see any reason for us to move since your place is big enough. How many bedrooms do you have?"

"What the hell is a sherwani?" Mikael asked, frowning slightly.

"And yes, you do the planning, I get the measurements, we go ring shopping and we can stay in my apartment for now. I have one master bedroom and one guest bedroom and two bathrooms, if that helps you. We can still move somewhere closer to your work, though."

"I can floo to someplace close to my work and walk from there. There must be a public floo set up in London somewhere." Parvarti smiled and put the box back down in the middle of the table. "Don't you worry what a Sherwani is. Just worry about everything else. Like if they actually expect us to you know." Parvati frowned, making a disgusted look. "Actually, let's not think about that."

"Why don't apparate?" Mikael suggested. Wrinkling his nose he took another drink.

"Suppose they do. The point of this is to mix the bloodlines and whatnot, or?" He shrugged.

"I suppose I could. The only thing is being careful enough so nobody sees me when I apparate." Parvati frowned, pouting a little bit. She did not enjoy apparating. It was a necessary evil.

"Soooo, how about we think about cake. Cake is good." Ew. She would have to-ew. Think of cake. shopping. Anything else. "Oh lovely, now I actually do want cake."

"There's an alley behind my apartment where no one ever is. I use it for apparation and I've never had a problem." Mikael smiled. Well, maybe this wouldn't be so bad after all.

"Let's get some cake then."

"You're easily pleased, aren't you? I want.... Something with a lot of chocolate and strawberries." A person could never have enough strawberries. "Or maybe something with ice cream. I wonder what we should do about the wedding cake." Lovely, now she had a sweet tooth.

"Tell you what. I know this awesome bakery and we are going there now and getting a ton of cake samples, obviously for the sole purpose of finding the perfect wedding cake, and we can try them all at my place."

Mikael waved the waiter over and paid for their drinks.

"Careful, I may just start liking you if you continue to butter me up with sweets and jewelry." Speaking of jewelry, when she stood up she grabbed the box and managed to slip it back into Mikael's pocket before rushing towards the door. "Hurry up!"

"Merlin beware, you liking me? The world is near it's end," Mikael laughed as he followed her out.

"You know that you are going to live with me, right? That necklace will keep returning to you until you are so fed up of giving it back that you'll keep it."

"I'll keep giving it back to you, so just give it up, return it, and get your money back. Besides, you should be using your money on wedding rings now." Parvati smiled, skipping a little as they walked. She was in that funny mood where sleep no longer mattered. Right at the moment she just wanted to be silly and eat a lot of cake.

"We'll see who gives up first. I definitely won't return it. It is a gift and you should have it. Don't fret, we'll get pretty rings as well," He added, obviously amused by the change in Parvati's behaviour. Definitely a nice change.

"Why won't you take the necklace anyway? If you don't like it I can get you another one."

"I like pretty rings." And I love the necklace. But she could not very well tell him that. No, then he would think he had her affections. Which he didn't. Not at all. "Do you really think this cake place will have samples ready without us calling ahead? It's short notice, after all."

"You'll get a very pretty ring then."

Leading her to the bakery Mikael shrugged. "I dunno. I wouldn't put it past my mum to write to them and make sure they have something ready. If not they'll just have to give us whatever it is they have at the moment.2

"Lovely. So tonight I'll probably gain weight and lose my wonderful figure from those cakes. At least it'll be worth it." Parvati smiled, laughing a little. She had no idea where they were going so tried not to walk ahead of Mikael.

"Ah, I'm sure you won't. You seem like the sporty kind of girl, so you have nothing to worry about. Besides, shopping counts as sport, so we are both very sporty."

Turning into a side street Mikael opened the door of the small bakery for Parvati.

"Here we are."
