Who: Parvati Patil and Mikael Harper
What: The 'happy' couple talk. And one tries not to murder the other.
Where: Charing Cross Station
When: Thursday June 20th
Rating: E
Status: Closed/Complete

Parvati had not been lying when she said she was ready for an arranged marriage. It was just a different type she had expected. She had hoped her parents would beat the Ministry in finding her somebody, but she realised too late she had been way too picky. So now she was stuck with a guy who took longer doing his hair than she did. He was grouchy and egotistical. The worst part was that her parents would die when they found out. Their dreams of a nice Indian wedding would be forever squashed.

To say she was angry was an understatement. In retrospect Parvati had not accepted the announcement as gracefully as she could have. Mikael was probably taking that better than her. Still, she was disappointed. He brought out the worst in her. She just wanted to annoy him every time they spoke. Not to mention he had called her a girly girl.

After takling the longest shower in history to calm down, Parvati found herself calmed down enough to face her-she couldn't even really think the word. She threw on a random outfit and hurried to Charing Cross Station, not looking forward to dinner at all.

"What the hell is a sherwani?" Mikael asked, frowning slightly.

"And yes, you do the planning, I get the measurements, we go ring shopping and we can stay in my apartment for now. I have one master bedroom and one guest bedroom and two bathrooms, if that helps you. We can still move somewhere closer to your work, though."

"I can floo to someplace close to my work and walk from there. There must be a public floo set up in London somewhere." Parvarti smiled and put the box back down in the middle of the table. "Don't you worry what a Sherwani is. Just worry about everything else. Like if they actually expect us to you know." Parvati frowned, making a disgusted look. "Actually, let's not think about that."

"Why don't apparate?" Mikael suggested. Wrinkling his nose he took another drink.

"Suppose they do. The point of this is to mix the bloodlines and whatnot, or?" He shrugged.

"I suppose I could. The only thing is being careful enough so nobody sees me when I apparate." Parvati frowned, pouting a little bit. She did not enjoy apparating. It was a necessary evil.

"Soooo, how about we think about cake. Cake is good." Ew. She would have to-ew. Think of cake. shopping. Anything else. "Oh lovely, now I actually do want cake."

"There's an alley behind my apartment where no one ever is. I use it for apparation and I've never had a problem." Mikael smiled. Well, maybe this wouldn't be so bad after all.

"Let's get some cake then."

"You're easily pleased, aren't you? I want.... Something with a lot of chocolate and strawberries." A person could never have enough strawberries. "Or maybe something with ice cream. I wonder what we should do about the wedding cake." Lovely, now she had a sweet tooth.

"Tell you what. I know this awesome bakery and we are going there now and getting a ton of cake samples, obviously for the sole purpose of finding the perfect wedding cake, and we can try them all at my place."

Mikael waved the waiter over and paid for their drinks.

"Careful, I may just start liking you if you continue to butter me up with sweets and jewelry." Speaking of jewelry, when she stood up she grabbed the box and managed to slip it back into Mikael's pocket before rushing towards the door. "Hurry up!"

"Merlin beware, you liking me? The world is near it's end," Mikael laughed as he followed her out.

"You know that you are going to live with me, right? That necklace will keep returning to you until you are so fed up of giving it back that you'll keep it."

"I'll keep giving it back to you, so just give it up, return it, and get your money back. Besides, you should be using your money on wedding rings now." Parvati smiled, skipping a little as they walked. She was in that funny mood where sleep no longer mattered. Right at the moment she just wanted to be silly and eat a lot of cake.

"We'll see who gives up first. I definitely won't return it. It is a gift and you should have it. Don't fret, we'll get pretty rings as well," He added, obviously amused by the change in Parvati's behaviour. Definitely a nice change.

"Why won't you take the necklace anyway? If you don't like it I can get you another one."

"I like pretty rings." And I love the necklace. But she could not very well tell him that. No, then he would think he had her affections. Which he didn't. Not at all. "Do you really think this cake place will have samples ready without us calling ahead? It's short notice, after all."

"You'll get a very pretty ring then."

Leading her to the bakery Mikael shrugged. "I dunno. I wouldn't put it past my mum to write to them and make sure they have something ready. If not they'll just have to give us whatever it is they have at the moment.2

"Lovely. So tonight I'll probably gain weight and lose my wonderful figure from those cakes. At least it'll be worth it." Parvati smiled, laughing a little. She had no idea where they were going so tried not to walk ahead of Mikael.

"Ah, I'm sure you won't. You seem like the sporty kind of girl, so you have nothing to worry about. Besides, shopping counts as sport, so we are both very sporty."

Turning into a side street Mikael opened the door of the small bakery for Parvati.

"Here we are."

"In that case I'm a star player for my team." Parvati laughed and walked through the door, pulling him along by his sleeve. She really wanted that cake. "Now, get those samples or I'll faint. And you'll be the one carrying me home and explaining to my parents you underfed me on our dinner date."

Laughing Mikael walked up to the counter and after a brief discussion with the shop keeper she went into the backroom and Mikael turned to Parvati, a grin on his face.

"Cake samples are on their way. Hold out five minutes longer, princess, then you can have all the cake you want. I am not sure if it will be healthy to mix various sorts of cake, seeing that it is not healthy too much various sorts of alcohol, but I figure we can give it a try."

"Yes, but alcohol gets you drunk and could possibly kill you if you drink too much. The only thing you suffer from too much cake is a stomach ache." Parvati smiled, ignoring him calling her princess. She had to reassure herself that he was most certainly not growing on her.

"If we keep this up we shall have the wedding planned before the weekend is done." Not really. She still had to meet Mikael's mother. That would be awkward. "Though I suppose when I go home tonight I should break the news to my parents."

"I think a stomach ache is worse than being drunk," Mikael wrinkled his nose. He hated stomach aches.

"Well, that wouldn't be such a bad thing, would it? It's not like we have a lot of time anyway." And probably it would be better to throw themselves head first into this instead of waiting and panicking.

"You really should. I don't think they'd be thrilled if you invite them to a family gathering and when they come they realise it is your wedding."

"Are you sure? I mean, at least if they found out at the wedding they would not freak out as much. If you heard my father when he's angry or annoyed you'd learn a few non-english curse words. They're pretty tame in public though."

Parvati smiled, finding a seat and sitting down. "Any other matters you think we should get out of the way before we're married?"

"Well...then it might be a good idea. Though I think you should talk at least to your mum. Somehow mums always want to be involved in weddings," Mikael mock huffed before he smiled at her again.

"Oh I am sure there are pretty many things we should talk about, but I can't think of any of them right now."

"I don't know, I think that's more of a reason NOT to tell her." Parvati smiled, leaning back in her chair and kicking her feet a little. "I'll tell them tonight anyways. Better than them finding the certificate on their own. Or seeing the ring. I have to admit, the ring is the real reason I'm marrying you." She winked playfully.

"Okay. Send me an owl and tell me how it went?" Mikael asked before his lips split into a grin again.

"I always knew you'd just marry me because of the money. I am utterly devastated now. There I thought this was a fairy tale story."

"I warned you I'm a very expensive woman. The shopping, jewelry, and the wedding. You'll be in debt by the time we're done." Actually her parents had money set aside for her wedding, but she wouldn't tell him that.

"And if I live long enough, I promise to owl you the details about my parents' fits."

"Ah, I highly doubt it. My job pays well and my family isn't exactly poor either. Money is something we don't have to worry about." Mikael had never once in his life worried about money, it had simply always been there.

"They'll eventually calm down, I am sure."

The woman came back from the back store and handed them various neatly packaged cake samples.

"Thank you," Mikael smiled at her before he held his free hand out to Parvati.

"Ready to go?"
