Who: Parvati Patil and Mikael Harper
What: The 'happy' couple talk. And one tries not to murder the other.
Where: Charing Cross Station
When: Thursday June 20th
Rating: E
Status: Closed/Complete

Parvati had not been lying when she said she was ready for an arranged marriage. It was just a different type she had expected. She had hoped her parents would beat the Ministry in finding her somebody, but she realised too late she had been way too picky. So now she was stuck with a guy who took longer doing his hair than she did. He was grouchy and egotistical. The worst part was that her parents would die when they found out. Their dreams of a nice Indian wedding would be forever squashed.

To say she was angry was an understatement. In retrospect Parvati had not accepted the announcement as gracefully as she could have. Mikael was probably taking that better than her. Still, she was disappointed. He brought out the worst in her. She just wanted to annoy him every time they spoke. Not to mention he had called her a girly girl.

After takling the longest shower in history to calm down, Parvati found herself calmed down enough to face her-she couldn't even really think the word. She threw on a random outfit and hurried to Charing Cross Station, not looking forward to dinner at all.

"That chocolate one," Mikael pointed with his fork to one of the chocolate cakes.

"But you know, I am sure we can get some kind of combination of chocolate and red velvet cake. That'd actually be really nice, what do you think?"

"It would be interesting enough. Red velvet with chocolate icing maybe?" She was already starting on the chocolate piece he had pointed out. "I think I just gained a ton." She washed it all down with the last of her lemonade before grabbing another can. "So, tell me a little more about you. I know you take a while doing your hair, like your mother, enjoy partying, and don't like children." She tried not to frown on the last bit.

Mikael flopped back down on the blanket, looking up at the slowly darkening sky.

"I am not going to eat anything for three days," he declared, thinking that he had eaten more today than he normally ate in five days. Turning his head he looked up at Parvati, wrinkling his nose.

"I never said I didn't like children. I do like children, just thought it'd be hard to be a single parent at our age. Uh...what else to tell? I enjoy writing and reading, my favourite author is Oscar Wilde and I despise fruit tea."

Parvati perked up a little at the mention of Oscar Wilde, a slight smirk on her face. She spread out on the blanket, bringing her can of lemonade with her. She closed her eyes and did her best to recall a book she had read when she was younger.

"'The only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it. Resist it, and your soul grows sick with longing for the things it has forbidden to itself.' I never read many of Oscar Wilde's books, but The Picture of Dorian Gray was one of my favourites."

"Women are meant to be loved, not understood," Mikael quoted, grinning at Parvati. "You know what else he said? 'In married life affection comes when people thorougly dislike each other." His grin turned into a smirk.

"The Picture of Dorian Gray is awesome. Have you read his fairy tales? Because you really should, they are great. I have the book at home, you can borrow it if you want."

Parvati purposely faked a yawn while stretching and hit Mikael in the face. "Oops, sorry." That was for saying women were not meant to be understood. She rolled onto her stomach and leaned up on her elbows.

"I can't say I've read them. I'm totally stealing that book from you now. I need some good fairy tales. If that is all there is to you then you're a simple man."

"Ouch!" Mikael rubbed his nose, mock glaring at her. "Don't punch me for things that Oscar said. It's his bullshit, not mine," He pouted.

"They are good but some are totally sad. Brimming with moral and metaphors of course, but really great. And maybe I am a simple man, would that be something bad?" He had been surrounded by the most expensive and extravagant things all his life and at some point Mikael had started to appreciate simple things.

Parvati smiled, shrugging. "Technically it was your choice to spout the bullshit. And there's nothing wrong with simple things. At all. I guess I've always like extravagant things though. Grass is always green on the other side, you know?" She tilted her head back enough to drink the lemonade.

"You're right. Well, good you are marrying me then. Lots of extravagant things coming your way. Like that wonderful and extravagant necklace I bought that you are going to accept," He added under his breath, smiling sweetly at her.

"Give me luxuries, and anyone can have the necessaries."

"Awww, that's so cute! You think I'm accepting the necklace. Nope!" Parvati giggled, rolling onto her back once more. It was harder drinking that way, but oh well.

"Remind me to assassinate Shacklebolt for putting us together. He must have had a death wish to think any kids coming from us would be a good thing."

"You have to accept it! Otherwise I'll be utterly sad and think that you hate it and that I have no taste at all," Mikael pouted, looking up at the sky again.

"Probably suicidal because our kids are so going to take over the world."

"Nope. I absolutely love it, it is gorgeous, and I have never seen anything more beautiful. I'm not accepting it though." Parvati looked up, wondering what time it was. As long as it wasn't light yet she'd be okay.

"I will be the most proud mother ever if our children take over the world. they would even get extra dessert."

"Why not?" Mikael ask, still pouting. He really couldn't see why she would refuse the necklace.

"Extra dessert, now that's certainly special. Would I get extra dessert too?" He asked hopefully, suppressing a grin. "Our children are going to be terrors, you know that right?"

"Well considering their parents, I definitely expect them to be terrors. They'll be stubborn, gorgeous, obviously from their mother, and probably a little wild. Maybe spoiled too. The world has no idea what is coming."

Parvati smiled and pushed her empty lemonade can onto the grass. "And you can get extra dessert. If you stop trying to give me that necklace. It's too much."

"And the best part about it is that it'll all be Kingsely's fault," Mikael chuckled, pushing a strand of hair away from his forehead.

"It is not too much. You're marrying me, so you'd better get used to gifts like that."

"That man will either commit suicide or be murdered for what he's done. It's only going to be a little while. Actually, I'm willing to bet once he dies there will be an incline in the divorce rates." Parvati chuckled and closed her eyes.

"I don't have to get used to anything. Return it."

"Most likely, yes," Mikael replied, closing his eyes as well and humming softly. All of a sudden he felt rather sleepy.

"I definitely won't return it. So it'll either catch dust in a drawer or you can fulfil it's original purpose and wear it."

"Nope. You can't make me wear it so I guess it'll just catch dust." Parvati rolled over and stuck out her tongue at him. "We should probably head back. Think the sugar rush is wearing off." She smiled, realising they had a little mess to clean up.

"That's a pity. It really wasn't made for a life in the drawer," Mikael yawned, stretching his arms over his head.

"Jus' five more minutes, yeah?" He then adds, not wanting to get up just now.

"Fine, but you better get up in five minutes." She shut her eyes again, forcing back the urge to take a catnap. "And truthfully, you should probably give the necklace to your mother. I'm sure she'll love it. It's better than collecting dust."

"bought it for you, definitely not giving it to my mother," Mikael mumbled, voice deep and just a bit rough with sleep as he slowly drifted off.

"Quit being so stubborn." Parvati opened her eyes and noticed Mikael wasn't responding. She poked him a little. Oh sod it, she was just too tired. She would just take a little nap and then wake up before anybody noticed them. As soon as she closed her eyes she slept for the first time in days.
