Who: Parvati Patil and Mikael Harper
What: The 'happy' couple talk. And one tries not to murder the other.
Where: Charing Cross Station
When: Thursday June 20th
Rating: E
Status: Closed/Complete

Parvati had not been lying when she said she was ready for an arranged marriage. It was just a different type she had expected. She had hoped her parents would beat the Ministry in finding her somebody, but she realised too late she had been way too picky. So now she was stuck with a guy who took longer doing his hair than she did. He was grouchy and egotistical. The worst part was that her parents would die when they found out. Their dreams of a nice Indian wedding would be forever squashed.

To say she was angry was an understatement. In retrospect Parvati had not accepted the announcement as gracefully as she could have. Mikael was probably taking that better than her. Still, she was disappointed. He brought out the worst in her. She just wanted to annoy him every time they spoke. Not to mention he had called her a girly girl.

After takling the longest shower in history to calm down, Parvati found herself calmed down enough to face her-she couldn't even really think the word. She threw on a random outfit and hurried to Charing Cross Station, not looking forward to dinner at all.

"I warned you I'm a very expensive woman. The shopping, jewelry, and the wedding. You'll be in debt by the time we're done." Actually her parents had money set aside for her wedding, but she wouldn't tell him that.

"And if I live long enough, I promise to owl you the details about my parents' fits."

"Ah, I highly doubt it. My job pays well and my family isn't exactly poor either. Money is something we don't have to worry about." Mikael had never once in his life worried about money, it had simply always been there.

"They'll eventually calm down, I am sure."

The woman came back from the back store and handed them various neatly packaged cake samples.

"Thank you," Mikael smiled at her before he held his free hand out to Parvati.

"Ready to go?"

"Most definitely. Where are we taking the cake to? Pick soon or I'll run away with them." Parvati took his free hand and stood up. She quickly let go when she realised she had actually touched him and went to open the door for him. "So what friends are you inviting?"

"My place? Unless you have a better suggestion." Mikael followed her outside, thinking about it for a moment.

"No idea. Asteria definitely, probably Malfoy and some other Slytherins. Is that a problem?"

"I don't know. Is there a park nearby? We could make a picnic." Parvati laughed, shutting the door behind him. at this rate they'd be out all night.

"Lavender, definitely. Sam, his fiance, and kid of course. Oh! And Owen, his fiance, and daughter. He has this precious little girl named Ellie." She smiled. "I'd probably have to say an open wedding is best though. As long as our friends don't kill each other."

"How about Hyde Park?" The evenings were pretty warm, so a picnic was definitely a good idea.
"An open wedding sounds like the best and we'll just tell them that if they want to kill each other they'll have to do it elsewhere. Besides, you know two guys who have kids already?"

"Hyde Park sounds nice." Partvati stopped him near a convenience store. "Wait here a moment. I'll get us something to drink." She smiled and hurried inside. In a moment she was back out with a bag. "Okay, now we can go. And yes, I know two guys who have kids already. I've never met Sam or his kid, but Owen's daughter is sweet. She was sick the other day, but I hope she's better."

"Kay." Mikael waited outside, watching the passer-bys. He looked up when Parvati came out of the store again and started to walk towards Hyde Park.

"Oh wow. I mean kids are nice, but that's a huge responsibility for someone so young, isn't it?"

Parvati smiled, feeling slightly energetic. Eventually her energy would fade but not until the cake was done. Hopefully. Though the sugar may give her another rush. "Both Sam and Owen seem to be taking care of the responsibility well enough. Besides, you're never too young for kids. I know-" Parvati cut herself off, blushed, and walked a little faster. "You're right. Kids so young is too much. But luckily those two know what to do."

"That's good to hear. What do you know, though?" Mikael asked, his curiousity getting the better of him.

They soon arrived at Hyde Park and Mikael looked around, trying to make out a good spot for their picnic.

"Nothing. I know absolutely nothing. I thought I knew something, but changed my mind on the matter." She did not want to imagine having children with Mikael. He was stubborn, had a horrible ego, annoyed her, and seemed barely ever serious. He aggravated her. Even though she had to admit he was growing on her.

"Here." Parvati found a nice spot under a tree and threw a napkin on the ground. After looking around and making sure nobody would notice, she transfigured it into a small picnic blanket. Smiling, she sat down.

Mikael raised an eyebrow but shrugged.

"If you say so."

Smiling he sat down on the blanket, unpacking all of the cake samples.

"I hereby announce that the cake buffet is ready to be plundered."

Parvati's stomach made an odd noise and she smiled, blushing a little. "I think I'm ready to dig in. Did we bring forks?" She pulled out some cans of hard lemonade. "Sorry, but it's the only type of alcohol they really had and I wanted lemonade."

Mikael rummaged through the bags the bakery lady had given them, a sound of triumph leaving his lips when he found two plastic forks.

"Here we go." He handed one to Parvati, eyeing the hard lemonade.

"That's fine, any kind of alcohol is fine. We can...celebrate this later with champagne."

"Success!" Parvati smiled, handing Mikael a can of the lemonade and taking the plastic fork from him. "You just like champagne. Admit it. I mean, champagne for breakfast even? I bet you're really a drunkard."

She smiled, opening her can and taking one of the slices of red velvet. Her favourite. She split the sample in half so he could have some as well. "Oh shiva, this cake is wonderful." Parvati already had a forkful in her mouth.

"I do like champagne, but my drink of choice is beer," Mikael replied. "I dunno if I am a drunkard. After a week of work I just like to get wasted and have a bit of fun," He shrugged, taking a forkful of cake.

"Hm definitely not bad."

"You are just picky." Parvati stuck her tongue out at him before going for another forkful of cake. "We don't really drink in my house. Every once in a while when I go out shopping I get something, but that's it." She wrinkled her nose. "I've never actually had champagne."

"Ah and you aren't picky at all?" Mikael asked, taking a sip of the lemonade and winking at her.

"It is high time you had some, then. Personally I think champagne is overrated, but it is nice for a celebration."

"I suppose we'll have some at the wedding, won't we? Or maybe I'll have some the next time I go out dancing." She shrugged, picking happily at the samples. A day without food made her hard lemonade and cakes a feast. "And for your information I'm not picky."

"There is nothing wrong with being picky," Mikael pointed out, slowly but steadily making his way through all the cakes.

"Well, I don't know what you think but the chocolate one is my favourite so far." He commented, liking some chocolate icing from his fork.

"Mmm?" Parvati's mouth was full of cake so she had to swallow and lick some of the icing off her lips. "Which chocolate one? There's half a dozen." She smiled and took a sip of her lemonade. "I'm biased towards the marble and red velvet. But I can red velvet some other time. Which chocolate did you like?"

"That chocolate one," Mikael pointed with his fork to one of the chocolate cakes.

"But you know, I am sure we can get some kind of combination of chocolate and red velvet cake. That'd actually be really nice, what do you think?"

"It would be interesting enough. Red velvet with chocolate icing maybe?" She was already starting on the chocolate piece he had pointed out. "I think I just gained a ton." She washed it all down with the last of her lemonade before grabbing another can. "So, tell me a little more about you. I know you take a while doing your hair, like your mother, enjoy partying, and don't like children." She tried not to frown on the last bit.

Mikael flopped back down on the blanket, looking up at the slowly darkening sky.

"I am not going to eat anything for three days," he declared, thinking that he had eaten more today than he normally ate in five days. Turning his head he looked up at Parvati, wrinkling his nose.

"I never said I didn't like children. I do like children, just thought it'd be hard to be a single parent at our age. Uh...what else to tell? I enjoy writing and reading, my favourite author is Oscar Wilde and I despise fruit tea."

Parvati perked up a little at the mention of Oscar Wilde, a slight smirk on her face. She spread out on the blanket, bringing her can of lemonade with her. She closed her eyes and did her best to recall a book she had read when she was younger.

"'The only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it. Resist it, and your soul grows sick with longing for the things it has forbidden to itself.' I never read many of Oscar Wilde's books, but The Picture of Dorian Gray was one of my favourites."
