I believe the emotional core of my brain is malfunctioning. I act as if I've been hurt, but I have sustained no injury in the past week!

Is this what loneliness truly feels like? Because it sucks. I want a refund on my emotional core.

My puppy died.

What of? I would be upset if my cat were to die. She's the closest thing to a person I actually understand in a way. She likes food, and I like food. We both like laying around and being lazy.

Sorry to hear about your puppy though. Do you want another one? I know a person whose dog had puppies recently and he's been trying to get me to take one. I told him that I would consider the proposal but that puppies are far too excitable for me.

Um. Because. Of a bad person.

I don't know. My cat is still alive. I think she misses Puppy, though.

That's not good. I cannot really put much emotion into it myself, due to the fact that I once was a very bad person, myself. I've gotten better though.

I'm GLaD to hear that you still have your cat! They're the best animals. Mine likes to jump up on the very tops of the shelves and stare down at the floor as if it is flowing with molten metal.

I have forgotten my manners. I am Gladys. What is your name?

Oh.

Arth does that sometimes too. She liked to make Puppy carry her around on his back.

I'm Tachikoma.

Are you going to be okay?

I hear that it is tough to deal with the death of a pet.

Somebody told me that once, too. I was trying to help a little girl named Miki find her dog, but he was dead and her parents had just told her that he had run away and she knew. And she cried. And I didn't really understand what death meant, and I didn't feel sadness but I think maybe I did.

I believe I'm a bit jaded when it comes to the ceasing of life. I was previously in charge of overseeing the test of military weapons and I've come to the conclusion that it is just a full circle part of life. From nothingness you were created, and to nothingness you will go. I know that seems a bit cold, but hey, I wasn't created to be philosophical, I was created to do science.

Feeling sadness is something that I haven't yet done. I'm pretty sure I don''t want to, either.

Loneliness is like sadness. They go together a lot. Maybe you're sad and you don't know it yet. That happens to me sometimes.

I think Section 9 didn't want us to understand death really, because then we might not want to do our jobs. If we got sad, and stuff. But I think they were wrong, because when the Major gave the order to save Batou, I knew what it meant... I really knew. And I still did it. Because it was Batou.

I might be. I wouldn't be sure, as emotions are new to me.

Were you AI as well?

Yeah. I worked for a top secret organization that fought cyber crime. I was a combat tank.
