This isn't so hard, ya? After dealin' with Sin and fiends all the time, these guys are a piece of cake.

Been gettin' some pretty weird looks about my weapon of choice, though. Like they ain't seen a guy killin' aliens with a rugby ball before.

(Woulda used footballs - they take the shape of blitzballs, but they deflate way too easy, ya? Rugby balls are a lot more tough.)

"Sin and fiends"? Is that a Freudian slip?

I guess they haven't seen anyone bend it like Beckham before. I trust it's the last thing they see.

Fiends, like the twisted Fayth of dead folks turned into monsters, ya? Probably ain't heard of 'em, that's apparently limited to Spira.

Ain't gonna brag, but ya, I'm pretty good with any ball you hand me. Especially at gettin' flying baddies.

I hadn't, but it sounds metal. I'm new around here so I'm still finding surprises around every corner.

Ha! I'd like to see that. Bad guy just flying along, doot de doot doo, and BAM! right in the face.

You got my kinda sense of humor, brudda. The name's Wakka. I'm pretty new here too, but I got caught up to speed by some family I got who've been 'round longer.

Sir Auron tells me this sorta thing isn't normal, and I shouldn't get my hopes up for finding mobs to practice on. So I'm getting as much work in as I can now to stay sharp.

Pleased to meet you. I'm Stonewall Murderface, but my friends call me Stoney. And before you ask, no, not that kind of stoned.

I got brought up to speed by my family also. Apparently something has gone haywire lately. I'm sure there are probably plenty of things to practice on, after all there are enough to keep the superheros and supernaturals busy. You may have to adapt your technique though, if it's a monster from someplace else.

I'm just a bass player, so if I can get some folks together and make a band, I'll be able to go back to what I know. Music is a universal constant.

Music? Like songs? Back home, we only had the one song, it's a hymn. Other music died out long, long ago, when Sin came 'round the first time. I keep hearing tiny bits of other songs here, and it all sounds wrong, ya? Like it's off somehow.

I do understand that. Our ears get used to hearing tone intervals and patterns in music, so when we hear something else it sounds "wrong". It's like listening to a really foreign language or trying to read something written in a different alphabet.

I'd like to hear your hymn someday. Maybe you could come for a visit when things calm down.

Might just, after it calms down. Maybe you can play me some music that ain't the Hymn of the Fayth.

I just thought of something. This place is like Spira in fast-forward, ya? Very small bursts of Calm, but only tiny waves of destruction. No Sin, though; that's good.

I'd like that. Maybe I can write some new Spirain music that sounds right. The least I can do is learn you hymn. Does it have words, or just music?

My friend, Teja, is trying to explain Sin to me. It sounds pretty brutal. He says that eventually you and your friends defeated it, or will defeat it. Very brave of you. Apparently a demi-cousin of mine's mother is Spirain.

Since there seems to be a lot of redundancy in the system and the vortex is nondiscriminatory, I hope it never comes here. But if it does, I hope it's because it's stopped

Never heard of the guy. And I sure hope not, neither. I kinda like the cities here. Ain't a big fan of machina, but I'd hate to see Sin destroy it, ya?

He's my demi-cousin, I don't expect you would know him. I can think of lots of better ways to invoke an apocalypse.

On a tangentally related subject, how did you get so good with balls?

I'm a blitzball player - it's kind of like this world's football or soccer, only underwater. Gotta have a tough throw with all the water holding your strength back. With all the fiends on Spira, you gotta work with what you have on hand as a weapon, and I just got good at it, ya?

I absolutely understand making due with what's at hand. Don't let anyine tell you you're doing it wrong, if it works. What's your score so far? We need to set up apoints system for these things.

Underwater soccer-rugby, that's metal. You must be strong as an ox and able to hold your breath like a pearl diver.

Lost count after fifty.

You better believe it, brudda. And I'm not the only blitzball player here. Got Tidus here, too. We were thinkin' of trying to find some way of introducin' blitz to this world. Just gotta find a way of making a sphere of water like on Spira.

That has some interesting franchise possibilities. Advertising, pay-per-view, endorsements, the whole enchilada. How many people make up a team?

It takes six people to be on the field, though you can have as many people on a team as you can pull up to play, you know? I play for fun and competition, not for money or glory or fame. I don't believe it's virtuous to gain from something you already get pleasure from, ya?

I respect that as your belief. I subscribe to the antithesis of that. It's been my privilege to have spent the last 11 years making my living by doing something that gives me a lot of pleasure and that feeling I pass on to my listeners.

Is there a special virtue among your people in being miserable in earning your livelihood? Because I mean everyone has to work, and make money to pay the bills. Why do something you hate or that brings you no joy?

Money is not much of a consequence; most people in Spira barter and trade. Yevon would not allow such greed in the people of Spira, only in its highest ranks. Power holds power in Spira, not money. And on Besaid - that's my home island - it's such a small community that nobody has need of money. We make our own way with the gifts Yevon has bestowed upon us.

I think you are in for a shock here. You may want to talk with your family about money and barter.

That's good then. Many people find that out much too late.

Is it me, or do we seem to be running out of targets?
