Marian Hawke sparked a rebellion ([info]kirkwallchamp) wrote in [info]undertherainbow,

Varric, for your stat-keeping (if you still do it), this is what I've gotten up to today:

Number of people punched: 15.
Number of pants set on fire: 20.
Random threats of violence: a lot. Mostly to tone-deaf people.

Does this mean I need help, or does it just mean I need to take out my frustration on something somehow? I kinda miss knocking criminals' heads together with Aveline, if that means anything.

It means you're the same old Hawke I missed. Don't ever change.

I could never change. Can't risk losing my favourite dwarf life-narrator, after all.

Oh, Hawke, such sweet things you say! People are going to think you're sweet on me!

And people don't think the same when you're weaving your tales of me heroically (and gorgeously) battling off Qunari invasions on my own, in the Chantry, whilst in my nightclothes?

Oh, no, they just think you're allergic to pants. Or mad. But in both scenarios, you're utterly beautiful.

Flatterer.

We both know Isabela's the only one of us who seems to be allergic to pants. I'm alright with them, mostly.

Of course I am, it's part of the job.

Rivaini just does it to show off her ass, you know. It's her best feature.

You should come visit me sometime. I have a mansion now.

There's no denying that. Even Merrill was entranced by Isabela's ass.

Ooh, a mansion? Moving up in the world, aren't you? I'm in Hollywood too, you know, so... it's tempting to drop by.

Just think, none of you had to see it at the angle I do.

I'm very close to you, Malibu apparently isn't far. My maid makes this amazing thing called macaroni and cheese. It's like food the Maker would make, if he made food.

Some people could almost be jealous of that.

Oh, now I have to come. Just to see if you're right.

If they could see it, they'd be even more jealous. There's a reason dwarves are this height, you know.

I'm at [address] in Malibu. I'll let Esmerelda know you're coming by.

I do, yeah. They're the easiest target on people who're walking away, especially if they're wearing some kind of fashion disaster...

Don't worry, I'm pretty easy-going most of the time. I probably won't set you on fire.

Hopefully, I'll never have the 'fashion disaster' problem. then again, hard to fuck up 'black pants' or variations of such.

. . . most of the time? Probably? Uh. . . this is sounding more and more dangerous.

I am the fearsome and magical Hawke, fear me!

...Or not. I'm easily distracted from rage by kittens and other fluffy things, sometimes, thanks to an apostate I was kind of... involved with.

Fearing, ma'am! Fearing! should I get more of those one-liners out?

Oh, hey, fancy that. Uh, don't have any fluffy or cute things on hand at the moment, but I have. . . pictures of cute or fluffy things. Does that count?

I wouldn't mind more of them, but that's just me.

Pictures count. They're not as good, but they work. Alcohol also sometimes helps.

Fuckin' hell, I think I'm getting more of a workout on my bartender skills now than when I was actually a bartender. Does everyone here like booze?

Hawke isn't immortal, she just chooses not to die.
Hawke can literally kill time.
Hawke puts the laughter in manslaughter.

Everyone except the people who belong in the Chantry, I think... you know, the people who go "the Maker shall punish you for daring to drink!"

And those are just as awesome as the last set. The first one might actually be true, considering how much I got knocked out by sword-wielding nasties when I was younger... I always got up without much damage.

[info]blunette

Pfft. Man, back home? I knew God, and he drinks like a fish. If Maker=God, I hiiiighly doubt he'd punish anyone for it. Actually, I've heard him trying to encourage others to. . .

Bet you don't get sick much either. I mean, if I was a disease of any sort, I wouldn't want to mess with you.

The last time I got sick was before I came to Kirkwall, which is... at least seven years ago? I'm pretty lucky when it comes to getting ill.

I mean, I think in that case it was my ass of a brother's fault. It was certainly the last time I let him near my food.

Two things.

Firstly, the bloke I'm seeing? The first part of me he saw was my arse when I accidentally knocked over his pepper shaker.

Secondly, don't wind up in prison. It's a lot harder to get out of them here than it was in Thedas.

Actually, a third thing. I will not be held responsible if Aveline ever shows up here.

Nice to see your ass is still getting you the better things in life.

The guys in suits keep apologising to everyone I punch, and nobody guesses it's me with the fire anyway... and come on, you'd like to see Aveline again. It'd be an excuse to use more interesting innuendos on her.

Well, that's true. But she ... well, you'd laugh at me if I said why I don't want her here, so I'll just continue to talk about my arse. And be glad you won't wind up in prison.

If I promise not to laugh, will you tell me?

Note: if I do laugh, you're allowed to get revenge somehow. This includes hitting me upside the head and stealing my staff.

Don't. Laugh.

Hotchner's the same kind of person as Aveline. All about the law. Doing what's right. Except he doesn't judge people. And actually seems to possess a sense of humor. But it still makes me worry he might prefer her.

I wouldn't laugh at that. You really care for him, I can tell.

Aveline's a woman-shaped battering ram who'd be pretty much married to her job if it wasn't for Donnic. She also really doesn't understand flirting... in other words, if she turns up? Nothing to worry about.

And if either of them ever even thought of it, I'd help you beat the stupid out of them both.

Thanks for not laughing. You're a good mate, Hawke.

Are you my Hawke, by the way? Did you fancy Fenris? Did you wind up convincing him mages weren't all evil?

Isabela
[info]kirkwallchamp

I try.

Don't think I'm exactly your Hawke, but I'm probably pretty close. At very least, I made Fenris see that all mages aren't evil, but... didn't get involved with him. To be honest, I was more interested in Anders.

I don't think I'm a "better thing in life", but it wasn't entirely her ass' fault.

You have men in suits following you around?

Bet it helped, though. It's the great hypnotiser.

They keep saying they're my bodyguards and that I need them, but... really, they're only good for apologising to people. They know the laws of this place, I... really don't.

It was her smile, actually, followed directly by her wit.

Do you know who you replaced? I could possibly help you with things, perhaps find out why they say you "need" them.

I replaced some judge on a talent show, Cheryl something-or-other. That's why I keep getting forced to listen to tone-deaf singers... and I guess it's why I 'need' the guards too.

By the Maker, I wish!

They're there to protect me from the people who take offence when I say "you're really, really awful at this", mostly. With how some of them keep reacting, you'd think it was a crime to be honest here...

I think the word for those people is deluded.

I'm sorry, I'm being rude. My name is Aaron Hotchner, I'm Isabela's boyfriend.

You better take good care of her, or I'll be introducing you to a world of hurt. Just saying that as her friend, of course.

I'm Marian Hawke, I travelled with Isabela back in my world. Most people just call me Hawke... and I don't complain, because it sounds so much nicer (and more heroic to boot).

I would expect no less from one of Isabela's friends.

Hawke is a much braver sounding name than Marian. Marian reminds me of one of my teachers in grade school.
