Who: Mickey & Rabbit
Setting: Early afternoon | near Blue Views Trailer Park
Rabbit hadn't been in the town for very long - he'd washed up in Safe Harbor leaving little footprints in red behind him, distracted by the shine of light off the sides of the boats in the harbour and his hand curled into the thick ruff of Puppy's neck fur. The dog padded alongside the tiny teen, nose to the ground when he didn't have his head up and his ears pricked forward. He waited patiently when Rabbit stopped to pick at grass to chew on or had to give his poor torn up feet a rest.
The odd pair moved away from the harbour and away from the water towards a trailer park, although Rabbit wasn't aware of it. Rabbit could only keep going for so long before he had to sit, no energy left in his bony body and his feet and body aching. He'd dropped to the ground at the base of a tree and curled up against Puppy's side, falling into a fitful uneasy sleep broken by frequent nightmares and sudden starts at the strange noises of the new place they were in. He slept until mid afternoon and when he woke up he picked at the meat on the carcass of the skinny bird that Puppy had caught and brought to him, breakfasting on the meat and yet more grass before getting up and starting his limp onwards.
As they grew closer to the trailer park Puppy grew more uneasy, pacing away from Rabbit a little and then back again, his tail high and his energy fretful. Rabbit was oblivious to it all and kept walking, the lure of the sound of people making him think of NAME and making his little heart leap in his chest. He couldn't really run anymore, but he semi-skittered towards the trailers, crawling underneath one and emerging on the other side almost on someone's feet.
