Subject: Viv's been a naughty girl.
Who: Vivian Thorpe.
Where: The Theatre, on stage.
Warnings: Violence, lots of shouting, I imagine.
Open to: Harry Fisher, Nell Abbot, anyone who'd be attending rehearsals (eventually, and staggered; they won't be coming in just yet, or all at once).

Rehearsals would be starting soon, and this place was still a dump. Vivian sighed as she surveyed the stage from stage right, stepping across the boards, the sound of her boots echoing around the empty theatre. She brought her broom with her, making sure there was nothing about that could potentially trip up any of the boys, brushing any dirt from boots and props off of the front of the stage. She'd clean the front rows later. For now, it didn't matter.

She sang to herself as she worked, in a surprisingly good mood. She was feeling a little better, not so sickly and shivery, and her rather depressed mood had lifted somewhat. She wasn't thinking about Harry today, she was more focused on the things she had to do. She had to do some laundry, and finish the washing up from breakfast, and start lunch, and then she had the luxury of some time to herself; there was another storm, and the rain was as heavy as it had been the other night, so she would have to wait before she could peg the laundry out to dry. She'd use that time to read or something. A nice customer had taught her to read once, he'd been a regular chap. Shame when he died.

She propped the broom against the side and grabbed her mop, fully intending to begin mopping the wings. She wasn't expecting any interruptions.

Kidnap Nell? Coming... coming to see her? She was being bombarded by all the things Harry was saying. Oh god. He knew. He clearly knew and she felt herself begin to tremble. He knew.

"H-Harry. Harry, just listen." She swallowed hard, looking him in the eye. She didn't want to give him any reason not to believe her, to think she was lying. "I... he found me. Three years ago, a random pub on the other side of the river. I had... no idea who he was and he... he treated me nice. By the time I knew who he was, I was in too deep." She knew that was a lame excuse, pathetic, but she needed to say something. "Please, Harry, I had nothing to do with the business side. I was just... just there for his pleasure. I would... never... do anything to wrong you."

Harry growled. It was the first time since Georgie’s death he’d made that noise. "Three years? Three years and you never even thought to mention you were sleeping with a man that would like me dead?" He replied, stepping closer to her. "That would have the boys dead if they didn't work for him? He's been here twice after Nell! I don't know how many times he might have tried something with Piper or Robin or Illya!" His breathing was harsh now, unable to think past the anger inside him. "That... that bastard..." He said, words coming out slowly, "That bastard is too smart not to use you to get to the boys. That's what he's been doing. Taking over this side of the river, over here every other week... and he's got the prefect excuse."

Oh, god. That noise struck fear into Viv's heart and she took a step back as he stepped closer. She had no idea about the things he was saying, trying to kidnap Nell, coming over here. "I... I never see him this side of the river, Harry," She whispered, shaking her head. "He's not here for me." She swallowed, hard. This was bad. This was so bad. "Please... p-please, listen to me. I, I'm not involved in anything like that. He just sleeps with me, it's, it's just a companionship thing... please, Harry, I'd never, never do anything to hurt you, not intentionally." She took another step back, able to sense the anger. This was really, really bad.

Nell gasped. He was sure they didn't know he was there, that they were too intent on each other to see him there. How could Viv be saying those things? Sleeping with Slater of all people amd after she'd told Nell how she felt about Harry. How could she betray him like that?

"Ignorance does not mean you're innocent, Vivian. How could you be so stupid? He wasn't just fucking you, he was fucking me over, fucking the boys over. He was going to throw them all in the river, like he did with Georgie. And you were happy to let him. Happy for him to do that!" He growled, clearing the distance and grabbing her by the wrists, holding her tightly, "You're his excuse. He could get anything he wanted off you." He looked her up and down. "If he'd got you up the duff, I would have been foolish enough to let you stay and bring it up here. A little viper's nest." He spat, face twisted in anger. "You aren't staying here!"

Oh, god, oh, god. Vivian whimpered as he grabbed her wrists, the force with which he held her causing her to let out a little cry. She didn't understand. "Harry, listen to me!" She shook her head, unable to stop herself from crying. "Harry, no, I... I had no idea he would do that, Harry, please, I love you." She didn't realise what she'd said until she'd said it, and then she swallowed hard, her cheeks flushing. He'd probably take that as insult to injury. Or call her stupid. "Please, don't throw me out... please, I ain't got nowhere to go..."

"You just didn't think! You could have got one of the boys killed! Could have got all of us killed? And what for? Did he even pay? Or did you do it out of love too? You cook for me, you take cock for him, a fair arrangement!" He said, dragging her off the stage, down the stairs, and towards the foyer of the Theatre. "You didn't think, you didn't care! And don't tell me you love me, save it for that fucking bastard! Tell him that you love him!" He shouted, still breathing hard, almost panting. "I want you out! Out now! You can go to Slater, get him to take you in, cos you aren't coming back here!"

Vivian cried out as he dragged her, struggling but to no avail, kicking her legs. "Harry, no! Please, please, listen!" She sobbed, her chest heaving, trying and failing to keep herself calm. "I don't love him! Please! Please, Harry, listen, I went to him because he showed me affection." She knew she probably wasn't making sense, but as soon as she could make her words clear, she looked up at him, pleading. "I love you, but there ain't a chance in hell, so I went to him. I just wanted some affection, I wanted someone to like me for me, not for what I can do for them. Please, Harry, don't kick me out... please..." She curled into herself as best she could, still sobbing. "I love you, I swear, you're all I've ever wanted but I can't have you..."

"You've got a fucking funny way of showing it!" Harry shouted, disgusted with her. She didn't love him, not matter what Nell had said the previous night. If she did, she would show it, not go and spread her legs for Slater. Slater was a bastard, a murdering fucking bastard and there was nothing he wouldn't do to score points against Harry, to better him in their rivalry any way he could. Sleeping with Vivian was just one of those ways.

"You love me, so you slept with the man who hates me the most in all the world?" He said, "That's rubbish Viv, and you know better than that. You know much better."

"Please, Harry... please..." She sobbed into her skirts, desperately trying to regain some composure. "To me... you're just... two men, it don't matter what rivalry you've got, I... I love you, oh, please..." She reached out, all but hugging his leg, knowing it was a pathetic show of desperation but really, what else did she have? She was pathetic, and she was desperate. And she was a terrible, terrible person. "Please don't throw me out, Harry, I'm so sorry..."

It was too much to stand - all the shouting and screaming. Harry couldn't mean to actually throw her out.
"Harry please!" He cried. "I know what Viv did was wrong but Harry you can't!"

Harry turned, looking at Nell, surprised to see the boy there, but it did not diminish his anger. "Because of her, Slater almost took you from me!" He said, letting go of her and stepping away, clearly despising being clung to, especially by her. "Doesn't matter about the rivalry? Doesn't matter? Don't you have any idea? Didn't you think?" He said to her, "You know what Slater did. What he does. And you betrayed me. And the boys. You put them all at risk! And I don't believe that you wouldn't go back to him if you stayed. Because you would. After all, he'd hold you and treat you right, wouldn't he? Tell you it was all alright and marry you one day, right? All you'd have to do was sell all of us to him, once by one!"

"Harry please!" Nell said, glancing quickly at Viv. "It's not because of her, Harry. And he didn't take me. I'm not Georgie. Just leave Viv alone, she knows what she did was wrong but...but Harry she loves you. She just wants company. Viv said herself she didn't know at the start. What if he threatened her too?"

Viv didn't fight anymore, didn't try and defend herself, or get her point across. There was no use, Harry wasn't listening. And anyway. She deserved it. Nell was there, standing up for her, trying to help her, and her actions had nearly gotten him killed or kidnapped. She didn't deserve his defence. She didn't. She just sat there sobbing, hugging her knees, knowing there would be no reasoning with him. She was going to be thrown out, and the first thing she was going to do was find a bridge and hurl herself into the Thames. It was best for everyone. "Oh, Harry, I'm sorry," She whimpered eventually, looking up at him and Nell. She felt a rush of love and affection towards the boy, but didn't move, simply looking at him, sniffing.
