Welcome to the Saturday night on Risa

This evening, join your fellow travelers and crew for a private bonfire on the beach on Risa. Meet new arrivals, catch up with those you haven't seen in a few days, try a new drink, or just enjoy the spectacular weather.

OOC Information

These weekly posts are IC third-person threading opportunities. Threads that extend to 10 total good-sized comments can be counted as a log for activity check. When he got the message that there would be a private gathering for all of Enterprises travelers and crew that evening, Napoleon made sure to take a few hours out of exploring all of the decadence that Risa had to offer to check in with the rest of his fellow shipmates. There had been new arrivals and people he hadn't met yet and he did like to stay as up to date as possible about people he would be surrounded with. And it didn't hurt that there would be drinking and a bonfire.

He was wearing a more casual look that evening. A white henley, with his sleeves up to his elbows, and light tan slacks. His hair was free of product, something he had taken to doing more lately, and his hair was its natural slightly curly texture.

Beer in hand, he was sitting over by the water, smiling as he stared out toward the dark horizon. Random thoughts filtered through his mind, not stopping on anything in particular, and with the ambiance, he was at peace for the moment. This planet was gorgeous and he wasn't ready to leave any time soon.

With Leonard doing his shift back on the Enterprise, Carol was actually finding Risa a bit boring. She was having trouble trying to find things to do. She'd been here before, though never with a boyfriend. Quite frankly, she wasn't really sure if Leonard was her boyfriend. They went out when they could, kissed sometimes, but they hadn't slept together or anything. She wasn't even sure if he wanted to sleep with her. That seemed so out of character for a man and it left Carol feeling confused. Maybe something was wrong with her?

Carol always tried to keep positive though, as at least today had been fun. She had learned to surf, or maybe more accurately, how to fall off of a surf board, but at least it had been a good time. Even though she was feeling tired and a bit sore, she joined the party on the beach, as she always liked getting to know the travelers.

After grabbing a beer, she saw Napoleon whom she had met earlier in the day while surfing. Carol sat down next to him, offering a smile. "Fun session today, yeah?"

Napoleon heard someone approaching a few moments before they sat down next to him. Shifting, he turned his head to take in the sight of the gorgeous blonde from earlier today.

Smile widening, he inclined his head in greeting before answering her question, "I certainly had fun finding excuses to get the detective to adjust my posture. Wiping out had been worth it." He had, thankfully, gotten out of the lesson fairly unscathed, though there was a nice little cut on his knee from one of the many times he had eaten sand.

"I'll probably give surfing another go before we leave Risa. How about you?" He knew he definitely wouldn't mind seeing her in swimwear again.

Carol laughed. Danny did seem like an attractive guy, though she didn't think about him like that. She thought that the man sitting next to her was better looking.

She cracked open the cap of her beer and took a sip. "Yeah, I think I might," she replied. "Practicing again might help me get better. Honestly, I probably need to work on my center of gravity and take some measurements of the board. Then I'll be able to calculate the best place to stand."

Physics could come in handy in a sport like this.

"Ah, so you're going about it the smarter way," the brunette said, laughing. "I've been facing it with the philosophies, 'Hope for the best, expect the worst' and 'Try and try again.'" In the spirit of learning a new skill set, Solo tended to just throw himself into it and hope to catch on. Overthinking it hadn't lent any help to him.

Leaning back, he raised his beer to his lips and took another swig, though he found he was at the end of the bottle already. What was that? The second one for him now? He planted it down in the sand next to him and leaned back on his palms.

Peering over at Carol from under long eyelashes, he asked, "Any other plans for tonight?"

“No point in having a doctorate in physics if I don’t use it,” she said. Generally she calculated the blast impact of torpedoes, but basic physics ought to keep her on the board more often. Just a bit of calculation would probably have a big pay off.

Carol actually blushed a little at the way he asked about her other plans. “None in particular,” she replied with a shrug. “If you do, I can go find Jim or Uhura.” She didn’t want to take up his time if there was someone else he wanted to be with.

"Gorgeous and intelligent, you're a double threat, aren't you?" He never got beyond his undergraduate education, but that didn't stop him from admiring people who went beyond it. If his life had turned out differently, he might have continued his own education.

Watching the pretty way her face pinked up, he grinned. "No, sweetheart, I don't have any other plans. I was hoping to make some with you, though." He had no idea what her current romantic situation was, but that didn't stop him from trying.

So he'd meant to go climb Galartha again. The way the face of the mountain changed constantly, it would be different than the last time he'd gone and hell, he'd enjoyed it. However somewhere between getting geared up to follow those intentions and actually doing so, Riggs had succumbed to distraction and ended up crashed out on one of the beaches for a while, enjoying a sun-soaked nap after whatever it was he'd imbibed off. Alien alcohol was presenting a new challenge he wasn't sure he liked.

By the time he'd woken up, most of the day was long gone and he wasn't about to attempt climbing in the darkness, not so much because of the risk, but that he wouldn't get very far.

While he wasn't quite the social butterfly most of the crew seemed to be, the bonfire was still an opportunity to do something other than lurk around. That and he'd spent enough time sleeping that afternoon that doing so anytime soon had lost appeal. So the bonfire it was, Riggs not bothering to dress up for the event, his usual state of ruffled and rumpled. He avoided the bigger groups, locating another drink with that sixth sense of his, and found a seat on the ground.

Where there was a bonfire, there was Steve. Bonfires helped remind him of home, of Hawaii and the ohana they had left behind. He wasn't exactly a social butterfly, but he didn't hate social gatherings. Especially since it seemed like gathering around drinking was one of the more popular events for the people of the Enterprise.

It helped build community, that was for sure. Steve had wandered away from the group he had come with when he saw Riggs being his usual antisocial self. And for some reason, he wasn't willing to let that stand. Stopping over to get a fresh beer from where they were being kept, he sat down next down to the other SEAL.

"Gotta say, babe, I'm surprised you showed up," Steve started off, conversationally.

"Babe." The word just sounded entertaining coming out of the Hawaiian-born SEAL, bringing a small grin to Rigg's face. He'd heard it out of the Hollywood elite trying to sound savvy and smooth or the guys from back East, as casual as a 'dude' or a 'man' to them. He knew where Steve picked it up from. "Ain't 'brah' more your speed?"

Clapping his fellow SEAL on the shoulder, he took another swig from his bottle before he pointed at the bonfire. "I came to bask in the firelight, reconnect with nature," he added, slowly moving his arm upwards to indicate the sky. "I also fell asleep on the beach so taking a nap was out. I figured I'd indulge in free booze and try to appear as if I know how to behave out in society."

"Yeah, brah,, I flip flop between terms of endearment.." Steve said, shaking his head good naturedly. "Sue me." He was pretty sure everyone knew where he had picked up 'babe' from. Danny's influence was as strong as ever.

Rolling his eyes, he looked a little concerned as he said, "I don't know if you're quite fooling as many people as you seem to think you are."

"So if I say darlin' enough, you might throw that one into circulation?" Not that it was a common word in his vocabulary either but it was the first stereotypical word he could think of. Riggs snorted softly and elbowed Steve good naturedly.

The next sip came with a pause, Riggs shooting a sideways look over at Steve. "If this is about my pants, I replicated a pair before I came down here. Figured that I might tear what I had climbing rocks and no one wants to see that. So that? That's taken care of?" He smirked as he shifted back to lean on his elbows. "I even got myself another shirt to go with them."

"Who knows, do it and find out," Steve said, rolling his eyes at the smartassery he was getting. He knew he could be a pain in the ass when he wanted to, but Riggs took it to a different level. A much higher level.

Was this what it felt like to be a dad? Because he was starting to get a headache.

"Riggs, it's not about your clothes," Steve said, scanning over said clothes and eyebrows furrowing further. "Well, not directly. Something's going on with you and for the life of me, I can't figure out what. So I can employ some advance interrogation methods or you can just tell me."

Arriving back with everyone he knew from the Enterprise, while not actually being on the Enterprise would have been odd for Lucifer had they not been on Risa. Now he was quite certain he never wanted to leave the planet even if his old job was waiting for him once they returned to the ship.

However, he did appreciate the familiar faces he kept seeing. And the bonfire was a fantastic way to seek out people who may have been avoiding him, or namely, Kate. He didn't see her when he arrived though, so instead he looked for someone else to talk to, and settled on Daisy, even if they'd barely spoken during his first time around.

"Well hello there," he greeted her, walking up with a drink in hand. "I'm not sure if you remember me? Lucifer Morningstar."

At first Daisy had been reluctant to actually enjoy their latest shore leave but not long after arriving on Risa she'd realized it was just what she needed. It had been far too long since she'd just taken the time to really relax and unwind so she'd been taking advantage of the chance to do just that.

She'd shown up to the bonfire dressed in a bikini with a sarong tied around her waist and she was watching people come and go when she noticed someone headed towards her. A slight smile played over her face as she realized who it was, she'd only spoken to him a few times but it had always been entertaining. Of course there was also the fact he'd gone and come back again which gave her hope that others might do the same.

"Hello, of course I remember you, I never forget the people in charge of the drinks," she said with a slight laugh. "The question is do you remember me?"

"Vaguely," Lucifer admitted. "I recognize your face and I know your name is Daisy but you never tried to sleep with me so I'm afraid you weren't on my radar the first go around. But since I'm attempting to remember the very important lesson that the Enterprise is too small, that shouldn't be a deterrent this time."

He flashed her a charming smile and said, "I do remember that you always ordered whisky though. When you weren't going through the menu which makes me regret that we didn't talk more during that process because not everyone is that brave."

"Well, I was sort of a little too wrapped up in my own problems to try sleeping with anybody so don't take it personally," Daisy said with a laugh. It was only fairly recently that she'd crossed that line with anyone on board and even then it was only something incredibly casual. "Do you mean it's too small to sleep with lots of people or too small to not get to know everyone better? Because I think there are people that would argue both points."

She smiled back at him, sort of impressed that he remembered as much as he did. "Yep, that's me. I like to try new things and sometimes I fancy a change from my usual, it makes things interesting." She took a sip of her drink as she took a moment to look him up and down, maybe she should have tried to sleep with him before because she had to admit he was easy on the eyes.

"Oh but I do," Lucifer teased. "I mean, why wouldn't I?" Even in full suit for no reason other than that was how he dressed, he was still an impressive sight on the beach, and he knew it.

"It's too small to sleep with almost anyone," Lucifer confirmed. "Especially if someone overreacts..." He was thinking of Mary, specifically, but it wasn't hard to imagine that happening with any variety of travelers. He all but shuddered at the thought.

"Anyway, it's good to be back, in what appears to be a far better version of paradise than exists where I'm from."

"Well then let me apologize for offending you. And go on to say that it's my loss clearly because anyone can see that you're attractive." Daisy didn't see any reason not to just come out and say it, the suit certainly helped, she may have a small weakness for attractive men in fine tailored suits.

"I think there's a reason Starfleet usually has regulations against crew fraternization and it's probably that," Daisy commented. "Yeah, that's never easy to deal with." Not that she'd had any experience of that herself but she could see how it wouldn't be easy at all.

"It's good to have you back, the lounge wasn't the same without you," she told him. "And I've got to agree that this is a very good version of paradise. Much better than anything I've experienced before."
