Welcome to the Hawaiian Luau!

All characters who joined the Hawaiian Islands excursion are invited to a traditional luau and pig roast in honor of the travelers. Enjoy drinks, dinner, hula, live music, a private beach, and each other.

OOC Information

This is an in-character opportunity to write short threads with other players. This is a great opportunity to thread short, random interactions between characters.

Rose was having an awesome time in Hawaii. If it had been an option, she would have been tempted to stay here.

Dressed in a simple off the shoulder top and jean shorts, Rose had spent most of her time hanging with Jaina and Oliver at the luau. The food had been fantastic and attempts at doing the hula a lot of fun. Oliver couldn't dance to save him life, but that only made it more amusing to watch his attempts while she mastered it pretty easily. Laughing, she'd nodded when Oliver offered to get them some drinks and then found a place to sit while she waited for him.

It was true. Oliver couldn't dance to save his life. He'd never been able to and the few times she had tried, he'd been drunk enough that it didn't matter. He wasn't drunk tonight though and Rose had talked him into attempting the hula which had been hilarious, at least to Rose and anyone who had happened to be watching.

When he returned with their drinks and sat down beside her, he handed one to her and then leaned in to kiss her lightly. They'd had a very interesting afternoon hike on one of the trails near the hotel which led to a waterfall. Since then, Oliver had had a hard time not touching her whenever possible.

"So we should be sure and take another little stroll to the waterfall before we go back to the ship," he said, taking a sip of his drink. "it's really nice there."

It's been along time since Clarke had certain creature comforts and tonight she was taking advantage. A dress, jewelry, even her light makeup was leagues different from the style she'd worn on the ground in her own time. It felt good to make a change. She'd even gotten her hair cut, a symbol of the new beginning she was making here.

She sat with some kind of fruity drink in front of her, smiling as she watched the people around her. Occasionally, her thoughts strayed to home, those she'd left behind, but for the most part she was content.

"Mind some company?" Ahsoka asked, all but sneaking up on Clarke. She felt slightly underdressed, but then she'd never been one for flowy things. That, and finding human clothing that suited her coloring was kind of difficult. But she'd made due with a pale blue top and dark green pants that looked like they'd been painted on.

This luau reminded her of a few things from back home.

If there was a buffet, chances were that was the place to find Kaylee. This party had a lot of food, and she planned to sample it all. The shore leave on Earth had been nothing short of awesome for her. While she missed the black and getting to work on an engine or two, this was a welcome break, especially when she could eat like this.

After grabbing a drink called a Mai Tai, which had a little umbrella in it, Kaylee stood next to Simon as they watched the pig rotate on the spit. She had a sudden sense of deja vu back to when she and Simon had stared at that floating cow fetus. Hopefully he would come up with something more romantic to say this time than he had last time, but Kaylee kind of doubted it.

"Sure is a change from rations on Serenity, huh?"

Simon wanted to say that what he enjoyed most on Earth was the experience. The historical landmarks, the scientific advancements. But he couldn't deny enjoying the food. So when Kaylee slipped up next to him, commenting on rations, he had to smile.

"I don't think I'd ever had anything like pineapple before here. Not even on Osiris." He tried not to think on home often. Not his original home, where his family had all but pushed him away. He did sometimes wonder what they thought, how he'd embarrassed them. But surely if they could see the River he'd seen, they would understand. Maybe.

"What's in that?" He asked, looking down at her drink. It smelled delicious. But that also could have been Kaylee herself. She definitely looked...different, not covered in engine grease and wearing more traditional clothing for their locale.

Tahiri thought Earth was a beautiful planet and she'd been enjoying exploring it. It would almost be a shame to leave it to go back to the ship. Almost. She was looking way to forward to her impending nuptials to not want to return.

This shore leave had been a convenient way to get clothes that weren't just replicated on top of being able to explore some of the things this planet had to offer. This luau was nice too and she hoped she could convince Anakin to try the native dance people were doing. It looked fun.

Leia was still getting to know the twins and Anakin, and she wanted to get to know Tahiri as well, especially since she would be marrying Anakin soon. And with the loss of Rey so recent, well, Leia needed something besides Chris for distraction. She stepped up alongside Tahiri and smiled. "Have you been enjoying yourself so far?" she asked. "I've always enjoyed getting to know the various cultural traditions of new worlds and everything."

Mary sat down next to her friend and roommate, a smile on her face. After a few days of trying more modern clothing for her various activities on the island, she was once again dressed in something more appropriate to the time period she hailed from. It was a white linen day dress with a straw cloche - not something she would normally wear at night, but the island was incredibly casual.

"Having fun?" she asked, sipping from her pina colada. Mary definitely had a glow to her, and not only because she had gotten some sun. She was happy.

Natasha needed a tan and what better place than Hawaii. And with the night time invite Natasha just couldn't resist. Already she would change into a black bikini with a sash around her waist. Bare feet came to touch the cool sands as she moved towards that bon fire.

This place was just what she needed to get away from all the stress she was feeling on the ship. Steve had left, and so had Bucky. Clint wasn't there and Bruce was with Betty. She had Coulson which was a plus. And Tony was still around which made her feel a little better. Just a little.

That cool drink took hold of as she came to take a seat on the sand and enjoy the night entertainment.

Yes, Bruce was with Betty, and he was happier than he'd been in years. That didn't mean he wanted to push his friends away. Yes, he was aware there was something there with Natasha. Something they'd been close to and lost. He also thought there were things she wasn't telling him, still. But they were in a new place, surrounded by people they'd long thought fictional. This wasn't the time to push away any friends, and he still very much considered Natasha Romamoff a friend.

Taking a drink from the bar, he made his way to her side, taking a seat next to her in the sand. At least he wasn't the Avenger wearing the grass skirt. "We really should stop him," he said casually, nodding towards Tony.

Nothing like a good luau to cap off their time on Earth. It had been cool being here, even if it was a little surreal knowing how far in the future they were, but being back on terra firma was still pretty cool. He'd almost given up on ever getting back to this planet, but here he was, even if he wished it'd come with a chance to see his family again.

Now, he had a good drink and some great music and he was having a great time at the luau. It's was gonna be a shame to go back to the ship when this was over, but he figured he should make the most of what time he had now.

Castle and Beckett had pulled themselves out of their self-imposed exile to come join the luau. Spending a few days alone together had been fantastic, but now he was ready to interact with some other people. Being as naturally social as Castle was, he couldn't take being isolated for long.

He had just finished a plate of food and drinking his second Mai Tai and watching the fire show when he realized there was another man standing close to him. Castle raised his drink. "Cheers, man."

It wasn't often that Jim managed an actual vacation, and certainly not one like this. Their business at Starfleet Headquarters was finished, and they had four days before heading back to the ship, Jim ahead of everyone else of course, to check on things before the rest of the crew and travelers arrived. But for now, Jim liked the idea of this trip to Hawaii and he worked to convince the rest of his senior staff to go too and he was glad some of them took him up on it. Bones, especially.

"C'mon, Bones," Jim said, slapping a hand down on his friend's shoulder. "Even you have to admit that this is pretty damn good for a vacation, am I right?"

Bones had, in fact, spent as much time as he could at his apartment. He commuted to Starfleet in the mornings, like a normal person. He came home and binged on streaming content, like a normal person. He grabbed food at the market and cooked it, like a normal person. He said hi to his neighbors, which, well, was probably not quite like a normal person. But he was still Southern born and raised and had standards to maintain, even if he hated pleasantries.

That was, truly, his idea of a perfect vacation.

Oh, and Hawaii wasn't so bad either. "Absolutely," he agreed with Jim, reaching for another beer. "You've got enough medical crew to leave me behind and let me play civilian for a while, right?"

Hawaii so far was the best place ever to be, though they hadn't been there long. Anna had found a swim suit that wasn't too showy to wear, though it was still leagues ahead of what she was used to, and a pretty cover up to wear over it. She still felt a little bit naked, but she was getting used to modern fashion. It would all be worth it when Kristoff saw her in it.

Anna skipped the alcoholic drinks, remembering her last adventure with them, and grabbed something fruity with an umbrella in it. Then she went looking for her man. Who, she was glad, she really did get to call hers.

Kristoff stood over by the bonfire wearing board shorts and a Hawaiian style t-shirt, clothes that he thought looked mighty out of place on him as he was more used to solid colors and more, well, fabric. But it was too hot for what he usually wore, even in the evening. He spotted Anna as she walked toward him and waved, a grin on his face. "Anna!" he called out. "Over here. Did you see this fire and this pig? It's an entire pig roasting right here!"

Roasting pigs smelled delicious and Tony had already sampled the buffet, the bar, and the hula dancing. He did love him some Hawaiian food, and he especially loved him some Mai Tais.

True to form, he could be found shirtless and in swimming trunks, with a grass skirt around his waist, doing his own version of a Hula. Probably by the bonfire, and probably with a drink in his hand.

(OOC: feel free to come interrupt him to chat, drag him off somewhere to get food, dance with him, or even just assume he's so drunk he needs to go home. I'm open XD )

Will was enjoying Hawaii. Before he had gone to Starfleet Academy, he hadn't left Alaska and even then the rare times he had, he'd gone over the border into Canada. Hawaii was a place he'd never been and it was everything that he'd heard it was. He was enjoying the luau, the food was good, he would never turn down an open bar and there was also some unscheduled entertainment.

Tony Stark in a grass skirt.

Raising an eyebrow, he approached Tony and said "That grass skirt doesn't look half bad on you. Or maybe it's the Mai Tais."

OOC: Jaina and Poe were openly together on the beach earlier today. They've been spending a lot of time together although they haven't really been affecionate in public. So feel free to say you noticed, especially Jaina's friends and family who want to know what is going on...lol.

Jaina was in a wonderful mood. She'd had an amazing day and this luau was turning out to be a lot of fun. She'd changed into something more appropriate for the party, put her hair in a braid and was sitting on a log watching the people around her. She'd long since kicked off her sandals and was digging her toes in the sand.

Poe had wandered off to talk to someone and for the moment, Jaina was alone. She couldn't stop smiling and she looked out at the ocean, thinking that this place truly was paradise if such a place existed.

Poe had very much enjoyed his time in Hawaii and on Earth in general, and he knew that most of that was thanks to Jaina. She'd taken his breath away when she had appeared for the evenings celebrations, she was incredibly beautiful and he had told her so. He'd left her for a moment to go and speak to someone who had called him over and when he'd gone to return he realised she was talking to her brother so decided to grab another drink and mingle for a while so they could talk.

Sipping his drink he looked around and smiled to himself at seeing so many happy relaxed faces.

It beat the desert, despite there still being some sand, and Han was happy for that. He did wish his Leia was here, loving the idea of sneaking off to make out with her in a place like this, but at least the kids seemed to be having fun. He'd said hi to them briefly, but had mostly left them to mingle on their own as he looked at the other people who'd come.

This was the kind of place he'd get to like if he somehow got stuck here for good. Warm weather, nice beaches, lots of ways to have fun. He'd did his best not to get too sunburned during the day.

Actually, it reminded him a little of the Endor party in some ways, only without the flesh-eating furry things and that annoying yub nub song going on and on. If only the creature they were roasting didn't remind him so much of one of Jabba's guards....

Vacations were not frequently sought out by the Captain of the Enterprise - well, not this Enterprise - but since it was being pushed upon him, he would be willing to undertake the prospect. For the moment he had found himself a nice table on the edge of the facilities. There was an empty chair, but he had a drink, a beach appropriate shirt and shorts, and there was a book sitting on the table that he could pick up and make use of, if he found himself with some time to people watch instead of being engrossed in conversation. But for the moment he was simply sipping that cocktail, and considering the different people - some he knew, and some he didn't.

It had been a really long time since Kara had truly taken time for herself like this. Not since she'd decided to follow in her cousin's footsteps and become a hero had she really stopped and just enjoyed her life. There had always been something going on that had required her to drop everything and help out. She didn't mind of course, she wanted to help people, felt she owed it to the world to do what she could to make a difference. She believed that was why she'd survived when so many had perished when Krypton had been destroyed.

Now though she had nothing but time it seemed. The world they were in was different, quieter than National City and not in need of heroes like her. It was weird to not be waiting for the next disaster to happen. If it hadn't have been for the fact that Mon-El was also here Kara might have found herself going a bit crazy but he helped keep her grounded in a way no one else really had. Kara had been hesitant at first to allow him into her life but now she had and she never wanted to let him go.

She wore a light summer dress, it seemed fitting for Hawaii, a flower in her hair to add a dash of color and a genuine smile on her face. She sat waiting for Mon-El to return with drinks, content to just watch him as he walked towards her with two ridiculous looking concoctions in his hands.
