Welcome to the Hawaiian Luau!

All characters who joined the Hawaiian Islands excursion are invited to a traditional luau and pig roast in honor of the travelers. Enjoy drinks, dinner, hula, live music, a private beach, and each other.

(still healing from wrist surgery so please be patient with my slowness!)

Rose was having an awesome time in Hawaii. If it had been an option, she would have been tempted to stay here.

Dressed in a simple off the shoulder top and jean shorts, Rose had spent most of her time hanging with Jaina and Oliver at the luau. The food had been fantastic and attempts at doing the hula a lot of fun. Oliver couldn't dance to save him life, but that only made it more amusing to watch his attempts while she mastered it pretty easily. Laughing, she'd nodded when Oliver offered to get them some drinks and then found a place to sit while she waited for him.

It was true. Oliver couldn't dance to save his life. He'd never been able to and the few times she had tried, he'd been drunk enough that it didn't matter. He wasn't drunk tonight though and Rose had talked him into attempting the hula which had been hilarious, at least to Rose and anyone who had happened to be watching.

When he returned with their drinks and sat down beside her, he handed one to her and then leaned in to kiss her lightly. They'd had a very interesting afternoon hike on one of the trails near the hotel which led to a waterfall. Since then, Oliver had had a hard time not touching her whenever possible.

"So we should be sure and take another little stroll to the waterfall before we go back to the ship," he said, taking a sip of his drink. "it's really nice there."

Rose certainly didn't mind if Oliver kept finding reasons to touch her. She'd only known him for about six weeks now, but Rose had never been someone to take anything slow or cautious and there was something about Oliver. Even the brush of their fingers meeting when she took her drink from him sent a kind of thrill through her.

Her olive skin flushed slightly when he brought up the waterfall, but she nodded her head. She didn't have to ask which waterfall he meant.

"It's a pretty cool waterfall," she agreed casually, as though his suggestion had summed up the memory of what they'd done there just the other day. "I wonder if we can get the holodeck to recreate it when we do get back. It'd be nice to be able to visit it some more later.

"We probably good. Jadzia writes the programs I think so we could tell her what we want. We don't have to tell her exactly why we want it," he grinned. "although she'll probably figure it out. Besides the obvious, it's beautiful here and it's nice to be on a island that isn't booby trapped and trying to kill me." Hawaii couldn't be any further from Lian Yu and Oliver was graeful for that.

They sat for a few moments sipping their drinks, not saying anything, just enjoying being together. Oliver knew how rare that was, being able to enjoy someone's company without speaking. Finally he broke the silence. "So now that things are kind of official bewteen us, I suppose I should ask you if it bothers you that I'm ten years older than you. Although maybe I should have asked you that first. It doesn't bother me because we fit together so it doesn't feel weird."

"It's either that or sneak into the shower together and pretend it's a waterfall," she murmured, keeping her voice low so no one else would hear. She nodded, understanding why he'd appreciate this island so much after what he told her about the one he'd been trapped on.

His question surprised her, even if it shouldn't have. The truth was, she didn't really think about the age difference between them. They were both adults and he treated her like an equal. It wasn't like he was that much older than Adrian or Dimitri.

"No," she said firmly, taking his hand and squeezing it as she met his eyes. "It doesn't bother me a all."

"The shower has crossed my mind," he admitted. "so that idea is definitely on the table."

Her words about their age difference reassured him. It didn't bother Oliver although he wouldn't have been surprised if there were people among them who had commented on it. Although with a group as varied as theirs including people from the future, the past and even other planets, what did age mean anyway? It was all kind of illreverant in his opinion.

Rose had never really been one to care what other people thought. She could count on one hand the people whose opinions actually mattered to her and none of them were here, so let people talk if they wanted to. Rose might only be 18, but she'd been though things that had matured her faster, she'd been told more than once that she didn't act her age, at least most of the time. Having someone's life or death literally in your hands would do that.

It felt like she'd felt a kind of kindred spirit in Oliver, someone who understood the things she'd been through, even though they hadn't talked about the specifics much, and that meant something, especially here. Plus, being with him was fun. It was ages since Rose had had some of that in her life.

"Maybe we should give it a test run," she whispered suggestively, running her hand lightly over his knee as she gave him a meaningful look.

"That sounds like a really good idea," he said, glancing over at her. "and it's not like anyone would really notice if we left. And even if they do, who cares?"

Oliver had never cared what people thought of him and he saw no point in starting now. Besides he liked being with Rose, she made him happy and if the look she was giving him was any indication, the feeling was mutual. "So shall we leave this party and go have our own party?"

	"Oh, you wanted to go test that out right now?" Rose grinned at that and at the look in his eyes that so obviously said he was dying to be alone with her. As fun as the luau was, she wasn't exactly objecting to the idea of going off on their own. "I suppose I could be convinced," the murmured, edging a little closer so her lips were less than an inch from his ear. (Reply to this) (Parent)
