Peter had been taking the midday shifts all week in the mess hall, so that meant he got to sleep in a little bit but still, after working all day, he was tired. He didn't know why he went to the lounge for the weekly informal get-together, especially seeing as he was doing his best to avoid Sirius and Remus, who had just arrived. He didn't know why he was avoiding them; he had no real reason to. Maybe it was just that it was nice to be here without them. And if he could have picked anyone he knew to show up, he would have wanted it to be James, and not Sirius or Remus.

He grumbled a little and shuffled over to the window with his drink, some kind of bright green liquid that he found that he liked despite its color. It tasted like summertime. He sat and leaned his chin against his hand as he watched the stars move by outside the window. He missed the sun. Or any sun. Sunlight. He didn't know. He knew that in Scotland and then in London, it was often dreary, but at least they had had some sunshine poking through. That's one of the things he missed most since showing up here in outer space.

Stiles was still trying to adjust to this new life he'd found himself living. Life in outer space was supposed to be fodder for B-rate movies and awesome cult classics. Not reality. Certainly not his reality.

But here he was. And in true Stiles fashion he'd already found himself in a restricted area, escorted out by security. The guy hadn't hauled him down the corridor by his ear, but it was a near thing. And now that he had been set loose, with a very stern warning, he felt like he had been yanked around by his ear.

He sighed and wondered if he shouldn't just go back to his room and avoid people for a while. But he'd told his security escort that he was looking for the gathering on Deck Five when he'd gotten lost, so at the gathering on Deck Five he was. He got himself a drink and settled near to where another guy was looking out the window.

"Hey," Stiles said in greeting. It could be ignored, or taken as an invitation for conversation. Stiles wouldn't mind either way.

Peter looked up in surprise when someone greeted him. "Oh, uh, hullo," he said. He looked down into his neon green drink. "Are you new?" Admittedly, Peter hadn't paid much attention to the new arrivals except for Remus and Sirius. And he preferred to keep his head down and keep to himself.

Stiles nodded. "Been here a couple days." Not very long at all. Not long enough to feel entirely comfortable, or at ease. Still fresh enough to think it might be a dream, and he'd wake up back home soon.

After all he'd been through, with The Wild Hunt and everything, why wasn't he waking up? He had things to do. People to see. He needed to tell his dad and his friends how much he loved them. He wanted to go put flowers on his mother's grave.

Instead he was here. In space. And what felt like wasting time.

Peter nodded and took a big gulp of his drink, even though he knew better by now. He coughed and sputtered a little, his cheeks flushed. "Sorry," he said, shaking his head. "Sorry," Peter said again. "Uh - I've been here for a month almost. It's not so bad, even if it isn't anything like where I'm from. Where are you from?"

It was always nice to change out of his uniform for a few hours and relax, Jim thought, as he entered the Deck Five Lounge with a grin on his face. Here he could blend in, even though he figured that most everyone, even the newcomers, knew who he was by now. He just didn't always have the time to join everyone in their free time. Not only that but he wanted to give the crew, especially, a chance to unwind without glancing over their shoulders at their captain.

He grabbed a Bud Classic from the bar and then turned around to face the room, leaning casually against the bar with an arm resting on it as he sipped his beer.

Daisy had been aboard the Enterprise for a little over two weeks now and she still had moments where she couldn't quite believe it was real. She kept expecting to wake up and find herself back in the Playground facing a harsh uncertain future for her kind. It was real though, she was in space in the future and surrounded by what many might call heroes of Starfleet. It was probably the most bizarre situation she had ever found herself in. She was used to unusual though and she'd had enough time to mostly get over the shock of it all, mostly. In an effort to help acclimate herself more she'd made sure to stop by the Deck Five Lounge each Saturday to mingle and meet her fellow Travelers new and old and get to know the crew who joined them.

She'd been there for a while already, mostly watching people come and go when she noticed their Captain had graced them with his presence. In what might have been a potentially embarrassing move she walked over and smiled up at him. "Captain Kirk, we haven't officially met yet. I'm Daisy Johnson, pleasure to meet you," she said, swapping her own bottle of Bud from one hand to the other so she could offer hers in greeting.

Jim turned to watch as the young woman approached him, and a slow smile spread across his face. "Pleasure's all mine, Miss Johnson," he said, shaking her hand. "You've been here for a while, haven't you? Everything going all right with you? Finding your way around?"

He knew that for anyone who wasn't used to life on a starship, being on the Enterprise might be overwhelming or confusing. He hoped his crew was helping out anyone who needed anything.

Daisy felt her own smile grow slightly, internally freaking out just a little over the fact she was shaking Captain Kirk's hand. "I've been here about two weeks now. It's a lot to take in and I have moments where I feel monumentally stupid but I'm getting there."

There was no point denying that it was a little overwhelming being on the Enterprise. "It's definitely a steep learning curve here."

Jim & Mary
[info]ladycontrary
2017-02-25 11:35 pm UTC (link)
It took Mary a moment for her to recognize him without his uniform on. In jeans and a leather jacket, he blended in with all of the other off-duty crew members. There was a way that Jim Kirk held himself though. Even while off-duty it was clear that he was in charge.

Mary wasn't a woman who often went to bars. That wasn't to say that she didn't drink, just that bars weren't considered proper for a lady of her status. This bar seemed decidedly casual, much more casual than the dress she was wearing, which she had thought was incredibly casual. Why was everyone wearing laboring clothing like jeans at a social gathering? The dress itself had been a find. The machines called replicators on this ship were truly spectacular things, allowing her to make a dress that reminded her of the ones from home in mere minutes. Mind-blowing.

Many people stopped by to chat with Jim or just to say hello, so Mary held back for a moment, waiting until he was alone to approach him. She saw her opportunity when he was leaning against the bar, drinking a beer out of the bottle. (Not a very gentlemanly pose if one asked her.)

"Captain Kirk," Mary said, her posture straight as she held out her hand to him. "I am Lady Mary Crawley. We spoke on the PADD."

He turned his attention to the woman in front of him, lowering his bottle for a moment to greet her with a smile. "Lady Crawley," Jim said. "It's nice to meet you face to face." He couldn't help but give her a once over. He'd never seen a dress quite like hers before. "I trust you're getting more used to being several hundred years in the future, or at least as used to it as you can in only a few days."

Mary watched his eyes scan her form. She was used to men looking her over, so it didn't bother her in the least, even if he was only looking at her dress. The first thing she noticed about Jim was that his eyes were incredibly blue in person.

"I am, or as well as I can," she conceded. "Do people usually wear workmen's clothing to social events?"

It was a genuine question, not an insult, even though there was surprise in her tone.

Lucifer & OTA
[info]extraharley
2017-02-26 06:10 am UTC (link)
Lucifer wasn't at the Deck 5 Lounge specifically for the event but because this was where he spent every evening since arriving aboard the Enterprise. He was working his way through the drink selection, disappointed that he hadn't come across one yet that was more potent than his tolerance for liquor.

He glanced up and down the bar, taking roll of faces both on their way to becoming familiar and those belonging to people he'd not yet met or spoken with. The travelers on this ship fascinated him. Who were they? Why were they all here? Would the detective show up?

Distracted again by thoughts of Chloe Decker, he felt someone take the seat at the bar next to him, and he was half-hoping it would be her as he turned toward them. It wasn't, of course.

While not the detective Lucifer was looking for, in one part of her life Kate had been in that same job description. In fact, if she were honest, she still identified more with her days pounding the pavement and catching murderers than the short time she had spent behind a desk juggling administration and management with actual police work.

Not that any of it mattered now. Her captain's badge was stored in her quarters and now nothing more than a symbol of what her life used to be. Here she wouldn't be investigating anything, at least not for a very, very long time.

"I think you're brooding again," Kate said by way of greeting as she took a seat next to Lucifer, folding one of her long legs against the footrest of her stool and keeping the other planted firmly on the floor. "Seems to be becoming a habit." She added the last part with a small grin, flagging down a bartender to place her order for a glass of red wine. Her usual choice for the end of a normal day.

"You want anything?"

"If I'm brooding, it's all your fault," Lucifer said, recognizing the woman next to him more from that particular conversation than matching her face to her photograph. "Ever since you past tensed your husband, I can't stop thinking about the detective."

He held up his glass to show that he didn't need a drink, only to find it empty. So he asked the bartender to go onto the next drink and then turned back to Kate. "Six weeks, was it?" he asked her.

"How is it my fault if you were doing it before you met me?" Kate asked, genuinely interested in what his answer was going to be. Part of her job at home was reading people, picking up on their body language and the things they so often tried to hide in what they weren't saying. Sure, she couldn't be certain of anything because some people were adept at playing games (and she didn't doubt Lucifer would be one of those), but she thought she had the brooding claim down.

Taking a sip of her drink, she felt that now familiar tug of pain at the mention of Castle. She had referred to him past-tense, and she had made it a point to do that repeatedly to help re-orient herself to this new reality. But it didn't mean she missed him any less and wasn't, in some odd way, grieving the loss.

"The detective?" she asked, one sculpted eyebrow lifting up as she tried to decipher his meaning. "I didn't know you were so partial to us."

With a second sip, Kate placed her drink back onto the surface of the bar, blowing out a long exhale of air with a quick nod. "Yep. 56 days and counting."

Wade could deny the draw of the bar no longer. So far his search to escape the Enterprise had not been successful. Everything that might be fun was entirely off limits. He had made a mental note to try pick pocketing a member of the crew.

Until then he would have to settle for entertaining himself with the facilities on offer.
"I'll take a.. Pangalactic Gargle Blaster," he said as the bartender approached. The look he received made him shrug, "no? The reference doing nothing for ya? Ok fine. Just make whatever cocktail has the most alcohol in one glass and give me that. And put a little umbrella in it!"

The drink was bright, almost neon, orange. Honest to God orange. Thank God there was no one he knew around to see him drinking something tall and orange (apparently they didn't have little umbrellas).
"Hey this better not be a Sex on the Beach! I've got a reputation to uphold!" he complained mostly to deaf ears. With a sigh, Wade peeled his mask up to his nose, revealing his disfigured, scarred, skin and took a sip.
"Ooh, fruity."

Peggy almost didn't visit the Deck Five Lounge that evening, exhausted as she was from the influx of new arrivals. But in the end she decided that it would do her good to unwind a little. She walked in and went straight for the bar, asking for a glass of red wine. There was some blend from some planet she didn't know or remember, but the bartender seemed to (she usually ordered the same thing every time she enjoyed the lounge), and that was enough for her. Her eyebrow arched at the sight of Wade holding a bright orange drink in hand. "Now that doesn't seem like the kind of drink I would have expected you to order," she said, playing into all the stereotypes of a superhero in costume.

Wade glanced over at Peggy and smirked, "Really? I think you'll find only the manliest of men drink something that can blind you if you look directly at it."
He regarded Peggy for a moment, trying to squelch the immediate dislike he felt. It wasn't personal, it was just that he needed someone to blame for having his weapons confiscated and the official liaison made an easy scapegoat in his mind. Hardly her fault really. In the same situation he would've made exactly the same call.

"You know, you lot better be taking good care of my guns. They're very special to me. Shot a lot of not-so-good people with them. I don't blame you for taking them. No telling what harm a masked, armed mercenary could do upon a star cruiser... or star destroyer... or whatever it we're riding," He spoke fast, without giving her much of a space to get a word in edgeways. "Speaking of which, I'm guessing you're not exactly the Spaceship type. What's a place like you doing in a girl like this?"

She arched an eyebrow. "I assure you that once your weapons have been catalogued and registered, you'll get them back. Though I can't imagine you'll need them here." Peggy didn't say that she had felt rather naked without her own gun, and she had had to give hers up a lot longer than the system in place now.

She tipped her head to the side and smiled. She didn't know what to make of him; it amused her. "I arrived here, the same as you did, the same as any of the other travelers did."

Steven wasn't sure if he was allowed in the lounge. There were no bars in Beach City, and he'd never been to one before. There was one at the hotel they stayed at in Empire City and his dad steered him clear of it.

He avoided the bar and had a seat at a booth. His feet hung over the edge. He decided to get up and try the jukebox. It was super hi-tech and he'd never seen anything like it before. He HOPED it was a jukebox. Music was coming from it. Steven started to dance, and waved at people who looked at him. Maybe they'd join!
