Never a dull moment around here, is there? Suppose that makes this a fitting place for me to be dropped in. Fashion Week, television programs returning to the telly, and all of it overshadowed by unpleasant events without origin. Ah, well! Could all be worse, I could be forced into experiencing the former firsthand! Hah!

Now, what's everyone up to this week? I'll be perusing schools to prove my ability to teach impressionable young minds.

FILTER: Jenny (The Doctor's Daughter~)

Well, now! Settled in all right? Everything in order? Anything I can do? Perhaps I should offer you a tour of the city or some other such thing. Would you like that?

All for it! Still considering dying my own!

Hah! Many attorneys have had former troubles with the law, though I suppose not quite to the degree you might have. But, all the same, good luck! I am sure you will do well.

Really? What color?

I didn't really intend to be a criminal, you know, you just can't really fight demons and devils on society's terms. They don't play by the rules, so neither can I. But thank you, I appreciate the vote of confidence.

Ginger, of course! Been waiting ages to end up ginger!

I've no doubt your intentions were pure, and perhaps that will bleed through whatever it is you must put down on the application. You'll not be getting any judgment from me, at least. I don't play by most rules either.

I can see you with red hair. Ask Meg about it, apparently she's a bit of an expert.

You can tell that just from talking to me, or did you get the story from Cas? I like to think that's true, at any rate. But I wouldn't really blame a law school for not thinking intentions are really the most important thing, either. Some people say rules are made to be broken, but you know-- the law is all about rules.

Is she? Well, first I'll be asking my flatmate if she'd object, I think!

From talking to you, actually, though your friendship with him is a bit of a tell! Oh, but I would, Sam! One must prove intent in certain cases, particularly murder. So is physics, but I've occasionally defied those as well!

Mostly with less natural colors, but I think the same principle applies, don't you?

That... actually gives me an idea for my essay. Thanks, Doctor. And you know, you should tell me about defying the laws of physics sometime.

Suppose it would! Nothing more dye couldn't repair if an error occurred!

Does it? You're quite welcome, then! I would enjoy reading your essay, if you like, of course. Perhaps I will! I do love telling stories.

That is the handy thing about hair dye. Some of it washes out without needing to be dyed again, I think, if you want a more temporary fix. You might also be able to get a wizard to charm it for you, though... I'd be careful with magic, if I were you.

It does. If I can make the case for my own innocence, then that would make me a good candidate for a law school, don't you think? And it would be unique. I doubt most law school applicants can claim to have sentenced the devil to imprisonment in the pit. And I'd be very honored if you read my essay, especially since you gave me the idea for it.

Oh, no. No magic, no. Met some nasty magical-seeming entities once upon a time, not at all fond of it. Though I do enjoy a spot of Rowling's magic! Nevertheless, I'll not be rushing into any dyeing until I talk to Rose.

Would be brilliant, I say! Hah! Good place for the sort. I sentenced one to a black hole not too long ago. Think that warrants a proper fist bump when we meet in person! I look forward to reading your work, Sam!

There are a few of Rowling's witches and wizards around here, I think. At least, there were-- I guess I haven't seen one in a little while. But I don't blame you for not wanting to go that route. I'm sure you and Rose can figure it out.

Might be kind of one-sided and egotistical, though. Maybe I'll write an entire trial, prosecution and defense, and let them be the judge and jury. And if it doesn't work, at least our devils got what they deserved, right? I can definitely manage a fist bump for that.

Most likely! Really ought to pay more attention, but I've my own to look out for here. They've always been a handful. Oh, yes! I do hope she says yes.

Not if you write it genuinely! Write multiple versions, see which one speaks to you the most. So they did! I look forward to that opportunity!

Can't blame you for that. I was keeping track at one point, but I got distracted by looking after my own, too. I think that's allowed, especially here. This is sort of a place where you get to do things you wouldn't normally, or something you've always wanted to do but never got the chance. Like be a ginger, for instance.

I don't think I'd feel right presenting only one side of the argument. Mainly because I don't really see myself as innocent. Not entirely, at least. I think I could come up with a solid argument for both sides, and isn't that kind of important for a lawyer, regardless of whether you're defending or prosecuting? Being able to anticipate the arguments the other side might make?

Let me know when you're free, and I'll shuffle my schedule around.

Be a ginger, live a bit longer, and watch my own television series! Well, I've no particular interest in the latter, but the opportunity is there!

Oh, yes! It is imperative that you see things from both ends of the spectrum, and most importantly: how to use words of the law to your advantage. The law is for interpreting, after all.

I've few plans! I'm meeting my daughter to take her to the Statue of Liberty in a moment! Perhaps tomorrow, have a cup of tea down at the cafe?

All of those are good goals. I did watch my own television show, but you know, it's a bit rough. Not for everyone.

Exactly. And thank you, again, for inspiring me. I think I'm going to get started on that sooner rather than later.

The cafe works for me. I'll call it a study break.

No, I don't expect it would be.

You're welcome again, Sam! Happy to help anyway I can.

Fair enough! See you there tomorrow, around three?

Three sounds perfect. I'll be there.
