Who: Alec Lightwood and Kurt Hummel
When: Sunday, 12 May, 2013; Evening, after this
Where: Kurt's Apartment, Potts Tower
What: Talking!
Rating: TBD
Alec had no idea how to be emotional support. He was more the physical support and his typical mood back home was set to perpetual brooding and he'd been much better at keeping his feelings to himself than talking through them with the people that mattered. It was a safety net but it had left him feeling at least somewhat alienated and utterly incapable of sympathizing with others. Here, though, he felt different, like he wasn't hiding behind a self-imposed shadow, anymore, no pun intended. Here, he felt like he could pursue something different, something just for him and that feeling opened up an entirely different side to Alec than he'd ever remembered experiencing. He had, in part, TJ to thank for that, for encouraging him to talk to people, to try for what he wanted and to accept himself exactly as he was. Accepting himself made it a lot easier for him, now, to accept others and to be emotionally available for the needs of his friends, old and new. Kurt had been near the top of that list as of late. As much as it bothered him, Alec had been feeling distant from Jace and Isabelle just didn't usually seem to need him. Kurt seemed to need companionship, though, and whether or not he was correct in that assumption, Alec was more than happy to provide as such whenever Kurt let him. Like now. It was obvious that Kurt needed a friend and, even though Alec couldn't really explain the reasons why he'd been at least a little taken aback and even disappointed in the news that TJ and Kurt had been a thing that had happened, he pushed that aside to be the kind of friend his friend needed. In a way, putting himself aside to be what his friends needed was all too familiar. It was with that resolve that he knocked first on Kurt's door out of habit and, remembering that it was open, let himself in. After he'd closed the door and slid his hands into his back pockets, he found Kurt and offered a small smile. "Hey," he started and then, thinking that sounded pretty dumb, added with a hint of humor, "if you feel the need to break out in song, I'm all for it today." And then he took a seat, letting his expression take on a more serious expression of concern and care. "What's going on, Kurt?" |
