I don't know if your master taught you much of lightsabers and their crystals? So if I am repeating something you already know, I apologize.

But they call to the one who is meant to use them and to no one else. The Jedi taught that those who use the dark side could not naturally use the same crystals that Jedi use. That the crystals are aligned to the light or dark side. I suppose mine might have changed with me until I no longer possessed it, and when it became Luke's, it was not aligned to the dark side. Perhaps that is why it did not call to you.
