From the second you leave the elevator, there are lights. Holographic, sparkling, twinkling lights that dance. Known as holoffs, these lights are in tune with the music, your heartbeat, your moods. They will swirl around you as you dance to a rhythm, turn various colors for your enjoyment or to show your mood. They will interact as you eat and dance and hopefully romance.

What? You thought the Festival of Recreation was about anything you do for fun?

It's this world's version of — well, not quite the Valentine's Day most of us celebrate (or don't). But it's less about love and more about, you know, sex. It's closer to Lupercalia than anything else. There's no animal sacrifice, but there are those that consider sexual relations during this particular festival to have better fertility outcomes. One of the non-Displaced passengers will likely have some study to talk to you about with the findings and how it's real.

They have split out the park so that those who don't wish to partake in any recreation can still enjoy themselves. Half of it is devoted to food and dancing, with the lights acting as a guide for that. There are lots of interactive dances and games, some with the fertility angle so you know... Mind your youngin's eyes. It's mostly PG-13 tops on this side.

The other half of the park, and you have to be over 18 to get into it, is more about drunken debauchery with comforts abound for those to partake. You can even find a temporary mate with some lovely Companions for your enjoyment. They are free to turn you down, and you must discuss desires and consent before, but everything is above board. This is considered an admirable profession, and the Companions come in all shapes and sizes.

No one on board considers this depraved. They consider it beautiful.

Alice is having very, very sudden flashbacks to her Dad and Stephanie's parties when she was growing up. She can't leave quite yet though because she did text people who might be expecting her there. She's definitely making her way to the PG-13 side and if Danny did come, there's lot of apologies.

Rey didn't expect this but it doesn't really seem to bother her too much. She's mostly fascinated and has a similar expression as she did during the Festival of the Ancestors. She's curious, you know? She'll be asking questions but also her main priority is still dancing ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I mentioned Albus realized quickly this was a mistake, right? Unfortunately, not quick enough because Helena totally ran off in the direction of the games. Albus is just going to look horrified and go running off to collect her. PG-13 is still a little too old for her. She, on the other hand, isn't thinking anything of it and just is excited to be at the party with the grownups and wants to see her favorites.

Charlie has no qualms against the idea of any of this and will totally be interested in migrating towards the 18+ section.

Quill will hesitate momentarily, having an internal tug-of-war with himself about this, before deciding it's fine and letting himself enjoy the night.

Nebula will just roll her eyes. She's not here for the festivities, but she's not against it. There were far worse things in their world, and also QUILL YOU WERE A HO BEFORE. ENJOY IT. ;)

Clara is trying not to laugh re: Helena and failing miserably. But also embarrassed. But also sort of wanting to get someone to mind Helena so they could maybe think about enjoying some of this.

And if she spots Rose, really, that solves all problems because you know she's going to latch onto Rose's side and chatter away to free up the parentals.
