To make things clear:

This is mistletoe. Note the smooth edged leaves and distinctive white berries

mistletoe

This is holly. Prickly, glossy leaves and red berries.

Holly

I've been told that the Americas (particularly in the South) have a type of holly the leaves of which are smoother. However, the berries are still red.

Southern-Holly

Mistletoe and holly have their own distinctive and unique magical properties. They are not interchangeable.

You're welcome. Go about the rest of your day.

Naturally. I was going under the assumption that the party was fulled with friends who were comfortable with one another.

There's also a differences in the types and intensities of kisses.

Most Christmas parties I have attended have large numbers of someone's family members there.

One could always kiss on the cheek, yes. Particularly with family. But it ignores the historic shift for mistletoe to bring love instead of death. Also, I doubt most of us pluck a berry off for each kiss. Which then, there are still only so many berries.
