Hey, I'm Peter. I'm from Queens. You got a spare couch?

This is aliens, right? Like when the Chitauri invaded New York?

[...]

So my name's Peter Parker. I'm a good student. I won't be any trouble. I like sandwiches.

Man, I just flew in from New York and boy are

[...]

You know that one old TV show where they go through the portals and go to all those crazy alternate universes?

My name is Peter Parker. I'm fifteen years old. I'm pretty quiet and won't cause any problems. Seriously you won't even notice I'm there. I need a guardian before I can leave so if you've got a spare couch or anything I'd really appreciate it.

Yeah. I’m starting to get that.

So... did everyone get their powers the same way?

It's a great big multiverse.

From what I've seen, the Peters generally get them the same way. Generally. Usually through a spider-bite although how radioactive the spider was apparently can differ. Sometimes the branching off point in the parallel world is there with the spider ending up biting someone else. There's others though who got their powers through some other types of experimentation or through mystical forces.

Oh. So, how did you get your powers? Is that okay to ask?

Yeah, yeah, it's ok to ask. I mean for me at least. I think most of the other spiders are pretty open book too. The ones that are here now at least.

I'd fall into the other types of experimentation power getting where I've always had my powers and also sort of got bit because my life is complicated.

Wait. Always? Did they experiment on babies on your universe? Are you from the same crazy world as Falcon Cap?

Oh, no no no, different universe. Off shoot, but not my world although considering some origin stories, I'm sure there are- not the point Ben. Although I guess mine's more an off shoot of that world, but tomayto tomahto.

I'm going to pretend that made some kind of sense. But, okay. I guess we can discuss Hawking's multiverse theory some other time what off shoot worlds mean exactly?

Just smile and nod. It's amazing how well that can get you through most situations.

Although now that I'm thinking about it, it's mainly all perspective of who is the prime or main universe and which are the off shoots of that. Falcon Cap's world just tended to usually have the most people here, so it just slipped into that mental slot of 'this is the prime world'. So like, his world? Peter went to a science exhibition and got bit by a radioactive spider which gave him powers. Prime world. Take a dimensional step to the left and Gwen's the one that got bit and her world spirals out from there. Off shoot world. Not that it came into existence at that point as I think there's other aspects of her past that don't line up with things I've heard of the prime world, but it's the main ripple point.

Which I don't know if that made it make more sense or not....

Phew good. For a second there, I was worried they might revoke my teaching license.

You teach? Do you teach at EPS? When are finals? Am I really behind now?

I teach at the local high school. I'd already been working there when they got EPS all set up and I didn't want to leave them in the lurch.

There's only a little more than two weeks of school left including finals, so, I mean, I don't know what EPS would want, but that seems like something to handwave. What point in the year did you come from back in your world?

Ok, so not as easy a transition, but I'm sure where you are course wise can be figured out easy enough. You're smart and you've got a whole summer coming up. I'm sure you'll find your stride quick.
