Save for her nightmares and occasional headaches, Lily felt much better than she had earlier that week. The scars were still there and she had come to wear long sleeves to cover them up. She couldn't bear looking at them and wondering how they had come to be. She was hoping Severus might help her with a potion to make them go away, but she was still bedridden per Madam Pomfry. She only had one more day left in the hospital wing and always had a visitor or two. It was hard to get James and Severus away from the bed, but she was thankful for their company. When she was by herself she let herself think of what happened too hard. Try as she might, she couldn't remember much, just flashes here and there. What she did remember she wanted soon to forget.
For the moment the hospital wing was quiet. Madam Pomfry had sent the two boys to their classes and threatened to take house points away as well as a detention if she caught them around the bed for at least two hours. Lily had given each other them a small smile, waving them away. She didn't want them to lose any points or disregard their homework for her. Plus she was sure they needed some kind of sleep as well. She had woken up in the middle of the night to find one or both there by her bedside. It was enough to make her heart break, looking between the two boys. One she had known her whole life and felt a strong connection to, but nothing ever more than a loving friend or brother. The other she had resented most of her time at Hogwarts, up until recently. She felt this connection with James that she couldn't really figure out in her head, but had come to accept it. Still, she knew the battle the two fought and she wished they could just get along.
For the moment she was just resting, her eyes closed but was aware of everything around her. It was nice to have some quiet, but she couldn't quite let herself fall asleep, not yet. She was at peace for once, not worrying or remembering anything.
