Mack probably drank a lot less beer before he came to the nexus. Just FYI. Anyway, he's not actually drinking any beer right now -- instead, he's sat down on the edge of a fountain in the 'main' area of the nexus, with coffee! Decaf, but coffee. He's sporting a (fading) bruise on his cheekbone, but his knuckles are much improved.
"Ever find yourself surrounded by people you gotta give a damn about, and not be able to figure out how the hell that happened?"
...He's much less crotchety about this 'friendship' business than he sounds. Really. |

Hey, it's another refugee from postapocalypse Wisconsin! It would seem that this version of everyone's favorite absentminded professor wasn't quite absentminded enough to forget his gun when walking through a vampire-infested neighborhood at night, which is why he is (a) not dead, and (b) still holding it out in front of him when he stumbles through the Maximoff-created wormhole into the Nexus.
Mohinder squints at the sudden bright light, and then at the sign, blinking uncomprehendingly for a few seconds.
"Where did all of you come from?" he asks, struck by just how many living, breathing people there are around here. |

Despite what the icon may lead you to believe, Mack is not wearing a cowboy hat. Go figure.
He's rolling up his shirt sleeves, seemingly paying very little attention to his surroundings. This is probably not the case. He's got...some kind of...thorny...baton...thing in a holster. It looks cool, whatever the hell it is. When he's satisfied with his state of dress, he looks up.
"You ever meet somebody made you wish you'd known somebody else a little earlier?" |

Mack is back! And RHY--no. Anyway, he's back in the questions area of the nexus again. He's tidier this time, in jeans, tshirt and boots. The tshirt bulges in places from the dressing on his chest, and he rustled up a sidearm from somewhere, strapped to his thigh. He looks to be in a better mood this time, although that's comparative.
"Retirement. Not exactly what I'm dealing with, but the end result is the same. Where do you go from there? And, I guess, if anyone's got anything they need doing, wouldn't mind paying me a bit for, I might be interested." |

There is a man in the nexus.
This, on its own, is not unusual. It's possible that even with the added qualifiers making him unique, it's not going to be all that interesting to 90% of nexusgoers. Let's go through said qualifiers:
He's pushing six foot (not quite, and that half inch really kills him, not that he'd admit it), mid forties. Well built and fit for his age, which you can really tell because his jacket isn't zipped and his tshirt has been torn open. There's a handprint shaped scar over his relatively sparsely haired chest -- in between the scar tissue forming the handprint, there's a bullet wound scar, as well, over his heart. It looks recent. He's wearing a uniform that could be military, with his Atlantis expedition patch on one shoulder and the United States flag on the other. He seems to be unarmed.
He also seems to be really fucking confused. 'Where am I' doesn't begin to cover it, so he skips that one.
"Life ever given you a second chance you didn't know what to do with?"
That seems to about do it. |
