Who: Mannix and December
Where: The morgue
When: Late Afternoon

While it was hard to stay dry with the weather as it was, Mannix appreciated the chance to get out of the house earlier than usual. He’d stopped by both crime scenes to see if he could pull anything off them, but so many people had been in and out of both that it was hard to decipher which scent to follow. The scent of werewolf, however, was all over one of them, which was why he packed a round of silver bullets and grabbed his machete. He had a small collection of them at this point, and this particular one had been dipped in silver before being sharpened. If he was going to be hunting werewolves, he might as well be properly armed.

“Afternoon,” he smiled as he pushed open the door to the morgue. It smelled like death inside, but that didn’t slow him down. It was just his amped up scenes picking up on fresh corpses and he’d get used to it soon enough.

Who: Mannix and December
Where: The Morgue
When: After Midnight

There were few people in town that Mannix could drop by to visit at 3am, but December was one of them. The streets were empty and the hospital was quiet, and no one asked any questions as he found his way down to the morgue. While he thought about bringing a couple of beers, he knew how she felt about her job and instead opted for coffee. She’d need something to wash the taste of blood away. “Evening,” he said, pushing the door open with a smile. “How’re the dead faring? Staying dead, I hope?”

"So far." December said with a smile as she looked up from extremely boring inventory. "How fares the supernatural brothers of doom?" she asked. "Things all quiet on the home front?" What with them being vampires and werewolves and all. Cuz that was a thing now.

Who: december and mannix
Where: her office
When: just after dark
Warnings: not quite nsfw

As soon as the sun sank behind the trees, Mannix was out of the house, heading down to the hospital. He hated waiting so long to check on his brother, but burning up in the sun wouldn’t do either of them any good. When he arrived, Jack was asleep or unconscious, but his heart sounded good and he was breathing solidly. It was enough to calm Mannix’s nerves for the time being, so he scribbled down a note, just in case he woke, and wandered down to the morgue.

“You in?” he called out as he opened the door. It always smelled cleaner than he expected, like disinfectant rather than decay. There was a hint of blood, but nothing like he’d experienced in the rest of the hospital. The bodies that came into the morgue didn’t tend to bleed all over the floor.

Who: Mannix and December
Where: December's Porch
When: Night

After she got stitched up and a shot of antibiotics, December was sent home. She cleaned up the morgue, sweeping what was left of the vampire up and she stuck it in a jar to put in her office, then she was out the door. If anyone else died, they were going to have to wait until tomorrow.

As she walked, she was surprisingly calm. That had happened. Being attacked by a vampire was a thing that actually went down. And she'd come out on top. She realized as she got closer to her house that she was going to do this. Serge was right. His whole 'purge' idea was the way to go. No, she wasn't going to take out Zania or Mannix, but if there was other shit out in the night that was going to fucking up and attack and kill people? Well they might just have to go through her. First on her list tomorrow was shopping. And testing out if crosses worked against vampires.

Who: December and Mannix
Where: the morgue
When: evening
Warnings: language

As soon as the sun was gone, Mannix was out the door. He didn’t care that it was raining. In fact, the rain was the only reason he could leave as early as he could. The first thing he did was march over to December’s, but all he could do was knock on doors and peer in windows. Either she was hiding from him or she wasn’t home. Then he went to find Jack, hoping and praying that his brother had found them a house because he couldn’t spend another night at Mickey’s. It turned out they were in luck, that at least one thing was going right in his life, because Jack did indeed get them a house-- a house big enough to make into a brothel, just as they’d planned. Apparently he’d done a decent job of convincing them he was planning to ‘house’ a number of other traders, which was close enough to the truth that they couldn’t argue later. Furnishings would take some time, but they swung by it long enough for Jack to officially invite his brother inside. And suddenly Mannix’s life was a lot easier.

With a place to stay taken care of, Mannix headed down to the hospital and began looking for the morgue. It was, he decided, a test of his will power. Everywhere he went, he could smell blood. He stopped asking for directions because his fangs eventually came out and he’d yet to figure out how to make them go away by force of will. If he hadn’t eaten something earlier in the day, he might have caused a scene, but eventually he was able to navigate his way to the morgue, where he sat outside for a few minutes, waiting for his fangs to leave. Then he pushed the door open, peering inside. “December?”

Time:11:38 pm
Who: Mannix and December
Where: December's living room
When: Wee hours of the morning
Warnings: None

When Mickey was officially gone, December went back inside. And she went straight for the bottle of wine Mannix had brought earlier. Because jesus fucking christ on a pogostick, she was thrown. December wasn’t a girl who dealt well with being knocked off balance, mentally speaking. She made a habit of feeling like she was on solid ground. And right now, it seemed like she was anything but. So, she got out a glass, popped the cork on some sweet, sweet alcohol, and took too big a drink to be doing anything but attempting drunkenness.

Mannix woke up as the door opened, drawing his gun upon instinct. He remembered where he was faster this time, but had no idea how long it had been since December had stepped outside. It could have been minutes or hours. Putting the gun back down, he intended to fall back asleep, but watched as she went straight for the wine bottle on the counter, the one he’d brought back as promised. He propped himself up on his elbows and raised a brow as she took a long drink from the glass. “Want some company?” he asked, sitting the rest of the way up. If not, she might as well drink from the bottle at that rate.

Who: December and Mannix
Where: her house
When: afternoon
Warnings: language

Though they’d spent quite a while down at the door, Mannix and Mickey had been unable to get it open. It hadn’t surprised him, but he felt better about having tried-- or, more precisely, having watched Mickey try. All he’d done was assist, but that was playing his part. The worst of it was seeing that no one else came to assist, other than the occasional citizen of the dome, just as qualified as Mickey. No real dome mechanic ever appeared, and there was never word that one might. It had been disconcerting.

That night Mannix had stayed with the truck, but if they were really going to be there for a while, then he wasn’t going to continue sleeping in the back seat when a better offer was out. He and Jack moved the truck down to their sister’s house, making it a bit less likely to be broken into due to location, and locked it up tight. It was his assumption that his brother would take his sister’s couch, and he’d go grab December’s if it was still available. With a duffle-bag thrown over his shoulder, he knocked on her door, hoping he’d caught her in the time between sleep and work.

December was awake, though tired. Stretching, she went to answer the door, still in a black tank top and pj pants, hair a little tossled. She opened the door up, then turned around and headed back inside, assuming he'd come in. "So the great door adventure didn't pan out." she said, sounding wholly unsurprised.

Who: Mannix and December
Where: December’s House
When: Late afternoon
Warnings: Language

Mannix was ready to get out of Delphi. He might have even considered leaving early. Having his brother go temporarily blind was enough to put him on edge, and he’d completely lost track of time. Before he knew it, it’d been night, and then he couldn’t drop by December’s place for the tattoo, assuming she’d already gone into work. So they stayed another day, as they’d intended to do, and things calmed down a little. With their loot under lock and key, Mannix headed out to find December, eventually landing on her front doorstep. He knocked, then slid his hands into his pockets as he waited.

Heading over to open the door, December eyed Mannix. "You're late. Like, an entire day." she told him, turning around to head back into her place. She had the front room set up for tattoos as well as lounging herself. It wasn't like she really needed a proper parlor for giving people ink. It was a much more relaxed atmosphere in her place, if maybe a little weird. "Good thing I'm not busy."

When: Morning
Why: December needs some supplies
Warnings: Language

December had gotten off of her shift but hadn't gone home. That was her problem a lot of the time--the graveyard shift was perfectly suited to someone like her, but she always needed wind down time by the time she was done with her shift. It meant even if it was the ass end of her day, she was still up and wandering around. She knew the traders had started coming in again, and she wanted to check to see if anyone had anything of use. The past few times she'd checked there'd been fuck all there for her. But she had to keep looking, or she'd tear her hair out.

There was a reason she still did tattoos on the side. It helped keep her sane. She loved being a coroner in Chicago, and was glad she could pick up that job again--but this was the dome. It wasn't like people landed on her table often. It had been weeks since she'd even seen a corpse, and the cause of death had been as dull as it got: natural causes.
