Looking around her front room, Melinda hoped it would be big enough to fit people. She'd heard from a few people who were interested in coming, and that meant there were probably more who hadn't said anything who were planning on it, just for the free beer.

There were snacks on the table by the window, another table of drinks (which she really hoped would be replenished as people began showing up or it would be a truly pathetic party), and seating around the edge.

The wireless was on its stand, tuned to the WWN, which had promised an evening of dance music. Hopefully they meant popular and not Celestina Warbeck (Merlin hex her if it was a Warbeck night).

All in all, things looked perfect. Now, people just had to show up.

Roger was hardly the sort to arrive early to a party. It wasn't in his nature, and besides he had other things to do. Like showering, and getting dressed and generally taking his time. What would be the point of going to a party of any sort if he didn't look good? Besides there had never been a point in his young life wherein Roger had not enjoyed making a scene. Arriving at Melinda's place an hour or so after he was supposed to, Roger could already hear the music sounding off as he walked off. He opened the door and breezed through the crowded room, among the various, lovely bodies.

Roger grinned broadly as he spotted Melinda. It had taken a moment or two to see that lovely little face among the crowd, but there was hardly any mistaking her. "I had to look perfect," Roger said as flashed Melinda a grin and took the drink from her.

"Neglected? How can you possibly feel neglected. It looks like there are loads and loads of people here to see your pretty face." Roger said with a smile as he took a drink.

Roger chuckled as he slid his arms around Mel's waist and pulled her close. Leaning in he brushed his lips against her forehead. "Strawberries," he grinned, "I love you and your fruit salad."

"Not quite yet, but it is getting there," Roger said as he allowed Melinda to lead him wherever it was she was heading. "Is that why you're throwing this? Work too annoying?"

If he was calling her a fruitcake, she was going to hit him. Or possibly kick him in the shins because she'd just done her nails and didn't want to break one.

"Ugh, don't get me started on work. I'm being loaned out like an old library book to the Muggleborn Registration Committee where I've had to make up these pink pamphlets. I mean honestly, pink? I don't think that's terribly dignified, but of course no one told me. And then there was the poisonous duck! Which really had nothing to do with the pamphlets, but it was still ridiculous."

Roger rolled his eyes as if Mel should have understood the expression without his explaining. Sometimes he did wonder about her. "The raspberry soap, fruity hair, and strawberry lips? You smell like a fruit salad, sweetheart. I bet you taste like one too," he added, winking at her.

"Muggle Registration Committee?" Roger echoed, frowning ever so slightly. He still didn't quite get the whole committee and the entire mess that seemed to be creating in the papers, though he supposed this was hardly the place. "I guess they're just trying to - a duck? What duck?" At that bit he just couldn't help but laugh.

After a bit of thought, she giggled. "I didn't even think of that. Should I try to coordinate scents better or is it a pleasant salad type of thing?"

She did feel her cheeks heat a bit, though she wasn't exactly sure why. "And if anyone kisses me, I'll be sure to ask how I taste," she said, giving him a little look. Was he volunteering to find out?

"And yes, a duck. It was poisonous. Those blokes in Experimental Charms will try to make anything poisonous. Merlin knows what they'll try next."

Cho was wandering through the crowd with another pretty cocktail in hand. This one was virgin, though you couldn't tell it through the swirling blue and silver bands. She'd not wanted to get drunk tonight with so many strangers filling Melinda's home.

Spotting the back of a familiar head, she sauntered in that direction. "Well, well, Mr. Davis. I guess Melly is just letting anyone in."

Ah that voice. There were many voices he knew quite well but none better than that of the very lovely Cho Chang. Hearing her call his names, Roger turned around to look at her and flashed her a lovely smile. "It's lovely to see you too, Miss Chang," Roger said, taking the insult in stride, "She did let you in, so I suppose it was only natural I would be allowed as well."

Roger rolled his eyes. Well, well! It was looking like Cho was taking over for Mel in the whole driving Roger Davies completely batty project. It didn't work, not really, but that never stopped either one of them, did it? "No, darling, it's my lovely looks, winning personality and amazing personal self that got me my invite. Not everyone needs to resort to bribery," Roger added with a smirk and a wink.

Roger could hear the sarcasm in Cho's words. That, however, did not stop him from pretending it was a compliment. So, take at as such he did. He grinned. "Lost, I'm sure."

At her question, Roger shrugged his shoulders. "Well, if you must strip the glamour down to 'gracing the pitch', well yes that is pretty much all I have been doing. It's a massive job. Yourself?"

	Roger tried hard not to laugh. What could he say? There were so many little jokes that he could make up in response to her words. Deciding to be nice, however, he gave her a small smile. Alicia was... bored, a bit. But she was also tired and nursing a sore back as well as her third Vodka tonic, so being bored wasn't necessarily a bad thing. She'd been pulled to the party by Verity, and they'd come a bit late and already having had a couple drinks, hence why this was her third.

The sore back was courtesy of the rather vigourous night of activity she'd had the evening before. Apparently showering involved more being in bed than in the bathroom, but she wasn't going to complain because, really, it had been completely brilliant. Hence the being tired.

Still, when Ver had dragged her out, after coming over and finding her still in bed at four, she'd gotten up, eaten something and eventually they'd headed over to Melinda's. Melinda was a good enough sort, not exactly the type of girl that Alicia was usually friends with, but not bad either.

She was considering the other people in the room and deliberately ignoring Pucey, whom had been chatting up birds in various parts of the room. Honestly she had no idea what she'd been thinking last week. It was a bit strange that both her Friday nights had turned out much the same though, she still wasn't sure what she thought about either.

Verity was a busybody and needed to keep her nose in her own business, and Adrian had informed her of this before tweaking her nose, stealing a sip of her cocktail (and grimacing at the overly sugary taste) and leaving her to the mercy of whomever was near the corner of the room she was occupying.

"Well, well, well." If it wasn't Ms. Spinnet. Adrian hadn't seen her since their 'date' the week before- unless one counted the moment after the game where he'd seen her leaving with some older looking bloke. Who wasn't even that attractive.

"Spinnet." And, since he was lacking a drink of his own, he stole a sip of hers.

Alicia glared at him and brought her drink closer to her body. "Has the concept of possession being three quarters of the law been lost upon you someplace, Pucey?" she asked, baking away a bit, which didn't get her very far as she was leaning in a closed doorway.

He looked much too smug as usual, and she was reminded both why she despised him so and also was again jolted with the unfathomable incredulity of the fact that they had slept together.

Adrian chuckled, summoning another Guinness from...wherever the drinks were, not paying attention to whether or not anyone was in its path and catching it neatly. "Fine, since you don't want to share."

People were crowding and someone shoved him, forcing him to step a bit closer to Spinnet, and he grinned a bit wolfishly.

"Saw you at the game. Was that your dad?" he asked nonchalantly.

For some reason that really peeved her. Who was Pucey to be criticizing who she dated given that he had dated every single slag in this room. Xavier wasn't that much older, and besides, they got along quite well, better than she did with most men who were her own age.

"He's only thirty eight. And I like a man, not a boy," she said. "Why the hell should you care in any case?"

"I don't care." Then he paused. "No, scratch that. I do care, because I'd hate to see you waste yourself on someone all...old, when you could have someone closer to your age. Fit." Leaning in, he spoke close to her ear. "Haven't forgotten the way you scream."

Then something else she'd said hit him. "Are you calling me a boy?"
