Looking around her front room, Melinda hoped it would be big enough to fit people. She'd heard from a few people who were interested in coming, and that meant there were probably more who hadn't said anything who were planning on it, just for the free beer.

There were snacks on the table by the window, another table of drinks (which she really hoped would be replenished as people began showing up or it would be a truly pathetic party), and seating around the edge.

The wireless was on its stand, tuned to the WWN, which had promised an evening of dance music. Hopefully they meant popular and not Celestina Warbeck (Merlin hex her if it was a Warbeck night).

All in all, things looked perfect. Now, people just had to show up.

After a bit of thought, she giggled. "I didn't even think of that. Should I try to coordinate scents better or is it a pleasant salad type of thing?"

She did feel her cheeks heat a bit, though she wasn't exactly sure why. "And if anyone kisses me, I'll be sure to ask how I taste," she said, giving him a little look. Was he volunteering to find out?

"And yes, a duck. It was poisonous. Those blokes in Experimental Charms will try to make anything poisonous. Merlin knows what they'll try next."

Janelle by now on her third glass of wine waltz on over to Melinda and Roger. She over heard his fruit salad comment and laughed slightly. "I think that Roger just wants to kiss you so that he can get a taste," she said with a smirk on her face. She draped an arm over his shoulder looking at Roger. "Don'tcha Roger," she gave a slight smile before dropping her arm and taking a sip of her wine.

"No this poisonous duck, did the duck get found?" She asked with mild curiosity.

Roger chuckled at Janelle's comment and nodded his head. He grinned and winked at Melinda. "Sorry sweetheart, I've never been good at the whole subtle matter," he was tempted to prove Janelle right but decided public snogging in front of company was not exactly the right thing to do.

"And yes, the duck, more about this duck, because it's bloody fascinating," Roger said with another laugh as he took a sip of his drink.

A bit startled, Melinda gave Roger a little smile nonetheless.

"Well, you could have just said so. It'd have gotten you a kiss," she said, hoping that the warmth in her cheeks was more from the alcohol than the conversation.

"And yes, I think they did. In the Wizengamot, of all places. I have no idea how it got all the way down there - it can't have operated the lift and the emergency doors are all far too heavy for it to move on its own. There's rumors that it was a plot to assassinate members of the Wizengamot, but I think there'd have to be a better way to do it than that."

"Oh see Roger all you got to do is put yourself out there." Janelle nudged him with her elbow before taking a sip of more of her wine. She was definitely enjoying it and she was sure that the bottle would be gone before the evening was done.

"Yes Melinda I agree with you there there has to be better ways to assassinate people." Janelle nodded her head before she knocked back most of what was left her glass.

Roger reached out and gave Mel's bum a little pinch. "I'll have to keep that in mind, next time," Roger said as he looked at Janellle, grinning at her. He took another sip of his drink, deciding he would very soon need a drink before long.

"Maybe it burned its way down to the floor, could have been like acid quills or something," Roger supposed, trying hard not to laugh. "although yes, I do think we all agree that there are plenty of other, better way to kill them."

	Yelping a little, her hand going right to her arse, Melinda's eyes widened as she looked over at Roger. He was grinning at Janelle. He'd just pinched her arse and now he was grinning at some other girl? Hmph. "It could have done, I suppose," she said dubiously, not missing the fact that he was trying not to laugh. 	Janelle saw Roger pinch Melinda's bum and it caused her to chuckle, mainly because of Melinda's reaction. She found it mildly amusing that Roger had just pinched Melinda's ass. She was looking her glass as Roger talked thinking she needed more. "I need some more," she said and a hand ran down Roger's arm and brushed over his hand. "Anyone need a refill?" Roger had done his very best not to laugh at the little yelp. Melinda was always incredibly adorable, especially when she was annoyed. It was one of the things that kept Roger quite entertained around her, which was rather necessary considering that he had a habit of annoying her loads.

As Janelle offered to get drinks, Roger downed the rest of his glass and looked over at Mel. "Do yo want something?" He then turned at Janelle and shook his head. He was still quite capable of proper behaviour. "I'll get them, what were you drinking?"

	"White wine," Janelle said casually. "I did promise Melinda I wouldn't break her good glass, so maybe I should come along to make sure it doesn't hit the ground." Roger chuckled and shook his head. He was well aware of what Janelle was trying, but it turned out that he didn't particularly mind. Granted, he knew nothing at all about her, but she was pretty and interested, which no one else in that room seemed to be. So, play along he would. "I think that's very noble of you to look out for Mel's glassware, love," what was her name?

He flashed Mel a grin, "I'll see you later, try not to get too drunk, yeah?"

	"I am glad you think so," Janelle nodded her head and looked over Melinda. She had already turned around and was heading in the other direction. Janelle just shrugged her shoulders and turned her attention back to Roger. Roger raised a brow as he watched Melinda walk off in a huff. He wasn't sure what her problem was, but part of him was fairly certain that he really did not want or need to know. The other part of him was smiling down at the lovely lady on his arm, and nodding.

"I suppose that means just the two of us drinking now," Roger said as he glanced over at Janelle. "Tell me, you haven't had too many of those yet?"

	"Three is a crowd anyway," Janelle said as she looked back to see Melinda had really left, not that she was surprised. Roger seemed perfectly fine just being in her presence which wasn't bad. 	Roger smiled as he looked down at Janelle, the way her fingers were tracing his hand. This was actually loads easier than he'd expected. He flashed her a smile as he shrugged his shoulders. Had Roger been able to read Janelle's mind, he would likely have agreed completely. He did find the chase a bit boring, and it seemed that more and more girls were starting to think that that's really what blokes liked. One would think they would have considered actually asking blokes. He chuckled as he poured Janelle her glass and then refilled his glass with some mix of drink or something. He took a sip, not bad. "Yea? Maybe we should take this somewhere... away from the drinks?"

	Roger smirked slightly as he watched Janelle run her tongue across her lower lip. Oh she was good. Nodding his head slightly away from the drinks, Roger motioned that she should follow him as he took a few steps away from where they were standing. It would hardly do to be blocking the drinks.
