WHO: Raine and Cody
WHAT: Babysitting duty turns to one more heat casualty.
WHERE: In front of Raine's family plane.
WHEN: May 22nd ;; afternoon
RATING: Low/medium
The heat was ridiculous. Raine was never one to complain about hot weather, even though she was used to chilly small-town Canadian winters, but this was just... it was unfair. It felt like every day, unless it was storming, it just got hotter and hotter and it was hard for them to keep cool. Beyond keeping hydrated and staying in the shade, there wasn't much they could do about it. Raine would admit that she really wasn't doing the best she could at that, either. But when you were responsible for two little girls and two older young women, it was difficult to keep track of yourself sometimes. Raine was learning that the hard way. That wasn't to say that she wasn't taking care of herself at all; in fact, she did her best to stay hydrated and in the shade as often as she could. But now, with the added responsibility of taking care of Kirby and Joseph—who could mostly take care of himself, but Raine felt a sense of responsibility for him, with Lorenza out with her heat exhaustion, especially since the Delgado tribe was staying in the plane with the Ahonens—there wasn't much rest for her. Right now, there was a slight reprieve; Kirby and Joseph were walking around on the beach and Raine was sitting outside of the plane with Cody, watching the girls play with Sydney. It was nice, that the girls had playmates around here. And even nicer that Raine had managed to form a tight friendship with Cody. "What on Earth do you think they're playing?" she asked her friend with a little smile as she set her empty water bottle down beside where she sat. She looked over at the three girls with a little chuckle. "I'm 99.9% sure Chloe is a princess of some sort, mostly because Chloe always plays the princess. But the rest of the game is always a mystery to me. Unless they ask me to play the dragon, anyway. Which happens once in awhile," she smirked. |
