Thread: Giddy Grandmother
WHO: Felicity and Ms. Pearl
WHEN: March 12
WHERE: Ms. Pearl's Office
Since inviting her student for a chat in her office, Josephine had been busily preparing the room. She bustled around fluffing throw pillows and making sure the tea she was prepared to serve was not too hot or too cold. Her desk had been transformed (figuratively) into a table to eat at. The surface was covered in a linen tablecloth with color flower embroidery work on the edges. Her office desk chair had been transformed (literally) into two comfortable places for herself and Felicity to sit. On the table and kept to the perfect temperature was fish and chips and spicy curry. The dishes looked like they had come straight from their respective kitchens in their respective countries, and they had.
The genie was thrilled at the idea of helping the young girl, though she also understood that the situation itself wasn't ideal. Josephine's time as a mother had been one of the happiest times of her life. But being what she was, she had to leave them. Too long in one place made her extremely restless. A MΔrid was always wondering what was over the next horizon.
Josephine was still holding true to the agreement she'd made with her Ifrit cousin and her form was semi-translucent and blue. Very blue. She'd been this way since late January and most of the students had gotten used to seeing her. It was disconcerting to some that she didn't have any legs. Instead of legs, from her lower torso down was a blue mist. As far as clothing on the blue form, it was what one might imagine a djinn from the Middle East to wear. Her shimmering red sarong was wrapped artfully around herself and in this form, Josephine's hair was an ethereal black and silver and floated around her as though not bothering at all to observe the law of gravity. The silver was due to age, but as a child, her first human form had looked like the other humans around her in Israel looked. She'd tried on several other human variations. It wasn't until more than a century and a half had passed that Josephine settled on how she looked when appearing human now.
When Felicity knocked, Josephine called out cheerfully and floated over to open the door. "Coming! Coming! Oh my, let me look at you!" She gently clasped Felicity's wrists and held her arms out, smiling brightly as she let her eyes take in the early signs of a pregnant glow. "My goodness. You're absolutely stunning! Come in, yes, come in, please. How rude of me. You must be famished. Come. Sit. Sit!" Josephine let the last word trill on her voice in a pleasant soprano.
She bade Felicity enter and closed the door behind her before bustling over to their makeshift table and magically made chairs. "Tea, dear?" Josephine offered, but she was already pouring a cup for Felicity and setting it down at her place setting. "First, I want to establish that in here, within these walls, you have absolute privacy and nothing you say to me will ever be known by anyone out there unless you wish it. It's my pledge to you."
