Elizabeth stood in front of Jason's apartment door nervously. She really couldn't remember getting this worked up over a guy. The nerves felt as if she were walking through the door to sit a test.
She donned a simple white dress and a pair of heels. In her left arm, she cradled a bottle of Jason's favourite whiskey, and with the other, she gently knocked on his door.

She smiled gently then sighed a little. "Do you think I'm controlling? I never wanted to be like that. Maybe I am because I see that you're the only one who really understands me here, so I don't want to let you go. I don't want to be controlling. We can stay in separate apartments if you want. See each other less...Take things slower. Whatever you want." It hurt her to say it but she would rather that than not see him at all. "I guess I can get too much sometimes."

She quickly put some food in her mouth to stop talking, paranoid of sounding so desperate.

"It happened because you don't know how to care." Jason snapped. "Lizzie, if there was someone sick that needed help, you'd go to them. Even if it was dangerous! And even though, it might scare the crap out of me, I'd let you go. Because you'd have to. It's who you are. Going after that guy was a part of who I am." He took a deep breath and looked up at her. "I did this because I thought we were past that fight. Why are you bringing it up?"

"Because you'll do it again." She dropped to her chair as she grew teary eyed. "He was the lowest of the low. You think you stopped him? He'll recover and he'll be out there again. You would have gone without Maryanne." She wiped her cheeks. "What if he had a gang with him? He'd be hanging around a dingy horrid place." A few more tears dropped down her cheeks. "Do you realise how lonely I feel without you? I tried to throw a party just so I could drink myself to sleep and pretend to be happy. I have nothing here but you and my little brother. My Dad forgets I'm here half the time."

Jason stood up and pulled a couple tissues out of a kleenex box on the counter. He held them out to her. "I'm not as stupid as some people think. I would have waited until he was alone, until I was sure I had the advantage." He looked at her. "How was I supposed to know you were lonely? All I could think was you're throwing a party. I thought you were moving on." He began to step back and forth. "Then your Dad's an idiot. But I spoke to AJ a while ago, she's nice. She cares about you. And I'll always care about you, even if you dump me."

"Things can always go wrong." She blew her nose gently and sighed. "I can't just move on." She touched her head and closed her eyes. "I know. But AJ has her own family. I think he gave me the penthouse just to make up for not telling me that he'd actually moved out. You know how much that hurts? To actually have your parent around and still completely forget about you?" Elizabeth shook her head. "It doesn't matter anymore. I just want you."
