Who: Bruce and Ramses
Where: The park
What: A run in.
When: Saturday morning
Rating: TBD
Open: Maybe to Calleigh and Darcy

He'd been torturing himself over his mistake for the last few days since it happened. It should have been an easy keyhole surgery, if not routine. Bruce couldn't say with any certainty that he'd ever closed a hole in a man's diaphragm before but he'd known the theory inside and out, known what to do and it was relatively simple. Except it wasn't. Nothing simple ever was, he supposed, but even though Bruce had warned Steven about the risks of anaesthesia, it shouldn't have happened. Bruce should have known. He was his own worst enemy when it came to mistakes involving other people's lives. It was part of the reason why he never wanted to be an MD in the first place. At least when he had his accident in nuclear physics, he was the one who got hurt initially. Even that hadn't worked out the way he'd planned. Disaster followed Bruce all around the place and it had followed him onto this island.

If the place was deserted, it might have worked out better for him, albeit a lonely existence. But he wasn't one much to grind on what might have beens or what he should have done for more than The Other Guy let him before the self-hatred got too much and the roaring in his brain intensified at the neglect. The Other Guy did not like Bruce forgetting to give in to the anger just a little, just to feed the monster and that morning after a restless night, Bruce's skin itched to stretch and turn green. He couldn't breathe in the closeted space of his room at the hospital and jogged to the park for fresh air and to get the beast under control.

An hour in, through rounds of meditating and taking his anger out on foliage and running laps, there was a duller growl in the back of his head. Now Bruce was exhausted as he lay on the grass, energy spent while he tried to figure out how to fix Steven before the coma became too deep.

"Stark Tower." he muttered, trying not to lean his weight on her. "It's kind of Tony's idea. I don't stay there much." He tried not to stare at her beauty but he was tired. "It's a nice place."

"Then where do you stay?" she asked with a small laugh, glancing over to him and leading them both toward the road. "Are your feet gonna be okay? I got my phone, could try and get someone to bring you stuff." she asked, not sure if he'd wanna walk around barefoot and all but naked. Not that she minded the view...

"In my clinic or at the hospital." He managed to get his balance back right. "It's not my first time, Darce." Bruce chuckled, "I just need to get home and sleep for a year."

"That's dumb. You're dumb." she told him, giving him a look and raising an eyebrow. "If you say so doc." she shrugged, headed on to the road and toward the tower. She waited a few minutes before looking over to him again, tugging on the neckline of her cami that wanted to pull down. "So, you and the big guy skip rocks often?"

Bruce laughed, "No, no, that was definitely a first." He ran a hand through his hair, "It's not exactly what he's known for. The tantrum was a new one on me."

"Maybe he's growing up, teenage hormones and all that crap." she tried to joke, shrugging lightly again. "He blamed you though, in case you...couldn't hear it or whatever." she told him, "Banner mad at Banner." she mimicked, her voice lower and gravelly trying to copy Hulk.

Bruce smirked, "Oh I wouldn't expect that to happen too quickly. Mentally, it's not much more than raw emotions. Anger, hate, frustration..." he looked down. "Yeah, well." he tried to not smile at her imitation.

"He seemed pretty frustrated." she commented, "I thought he was gonna start stomping his feet when he could figure out how to skip the rocks." She turned as they got closer, headed toward Stark Tower. "It's about that Steven guy right? In the coma." she asked bluntly, looking up to him again, definitely not lingering on his chest at all.

He swallowed and nodded, "I made a mistake and it nearly killed him. It still might." Bruce wished he had more than just her blouse on so he could fiddle with hems, pockets, cuffs, anything. "I have to be better than stupid mistakes."

"I'm pretty sure allergic reactions aren't your doing." she commented, raising a brow in his direction. "And if his file has anything to say, this isn't the worst he's been through, he'll probably be fine." She wasn't sure why she needed to cheer him up, he certainly knew how to do his job without her, but she still wanted to, she liked it when he was happier. When they got close to the tower she jogged a few steps ahead and held open the door for him, bowing over-dramatically and holding a hand out like she was ushering him in.

Bruce tried to believe her words but in his head, he knew he should have done more to prevent allergic reactions. He knew how much Steve was allergic to things and how anaesthetic would have been one. "Thanks." was all Bruce said as he stepped inside the tower, still trying not to smile at Darcy's antics. It was easy to forget how to smile here.

"Ya know, it's cool if you wanna laugh, I can be pretty entertaining. All you sciencey types are so up tight." she commented, half to him half to herself. She followed him to the elevator and pushed the button waiting for the doors to open. "So this place is pretty neat." she commented, looking around the lobby a bit. She remembered hearing that Stark was working on some sort of building in New York but when she was from it was no where near finished.

Bruce pushed back a short laugh, "I am not uptight, Darcy." He led her to his apartment from the elevator, figuring she wanted her blouse washed and returned. Or maybe just burned. "It's got all the toys." he smiled a little more easy. "Where are you staying?"

"Oh yeah, way uptight." she teased as she followed behind him, having no idea where they were really going anymore but staying with him anyway. Maybe she could actually get him to eat something, all of that energy had to take it out of him. "With Jane, in one of the apartment buildings." she told him with a shrug. "Lot better than the last place I was in but no where near as cool as this." she commented with a grin.

"Tony didn't offer you an apartment here?" he asked, pressing his thumb into his door keypad and smiling as it opened, "Come on, I'll give you the tour when I've put some pants on." He tugged her inside. His place was cavernous, sleek but littered with his disorganised mess of notes and projects and machine parts. His fridge was bare except for baking soda and vinegar too. "I'll just go throw some sweats on..." he smiled and dashed to his bedroom to root around for something to wear.

"Don't think he's really talked to me." She shrugged, not really bothered by it. Working with Jane she'd gotten used to being more in the background and she'd been busy at the hospital since pretty much day one. She chuckled and nodded, letting him dash off to get dressed but unable to keep from poking around his apartment in the mean time, "Seriously, do you ever eat!?" she called out from his kitchen, definitely loud enough he'd be able to hear her from the bedroom.

Bruce pulled on some sweats and a tee quickly, looking in his mirror and seeing an old, tired man staring back at him. Since when did he lose his skin's elasticity? "I try to get three good poptarts a day!" he called back, washing his face in his bathroom before wandering back out. "I'll wash your shirt and get it back to you. Thanks Darcy."

"Fucking poptarts." Darcy mumbled to herself, poking around his cabinets looking for anything. She was still searching through the lower cabinets when he came out, turning toward him and giving him a bit of a look. "One of these days you're just gonna pass out and everyone will know how dumb you are about food." she commented bluntly, shrugging about the shirt. "Whatever, just bring it to the hospital sometime."

"I'm dumb about food?" he leant against the kitchen counter with his arms folded in front of his chest. "How am I dumb about food, Darcy Lewis?"

"Yes, very." She told him, crossing her arms to mimic his posture, though she had to...adjust the placement of her arms a bit. "So dumb. Since you know...you don't eat it."

He tried not to look at her chest but it was magnetic. "I don't need food that much."

"You're crazy. Everyone needs food." she commented, rolling her eyes a bit, a little oblivious to his leering, or the fact that the combination of her shirt and the way she held her arms wasn't exactly making things subtle. "Especially when they somehow manage to find the energy to throw giant green temper tantrums." she teased, raising an eyebrow.

"Still don't believe it." she told him, finally letting her arms drop with a little huff. "Poptarts aren't even that good unless you're high!" she commented before glancing up with wide eyes for a second. "Not that I've tried it of course."

He smirked lopsidedly, poking her arm, "Darcy, you know I was a young college kid once, don't you? Pot wasn't invented in 2011."
