Who: Remus Lupin and Sidda Blishwick
What: Arrivals!
Where: Quiet area, walkway by a big outer window
When: Saturday
The day had begun like any other, with nothing to indicate to Sidda that anything out of the ordinary was about to happen. She had been out shopping, meaning to prepare for dinner that night. Not much was needed, because Felix was going to be out with his friends again. That was how he always referred to them, even when they were nothing of the sort. Sidda didn't ask questions on those nights. It was easier that way. He'd come home late, looking weary, and when she lay beside him more often than not she could feel his heart pounding. They were used to this. He didn't talk about it, and she tried to comfort him, but he wouldn't be back to himself for a day or two.
It wasn't pleasant, but it was predictable. Until today, when the world had swirled about her as if she were about to faint, and when her vision cleared, she stood alone on an entirely unfamiliar walkway. She felt the comforting weight of her daughter against her, and was suddenly glad that she hadn't fallen. Over her dark robes, Sidda had wound a bright woven fabric, neatly tied to support and carry the little girl. Two-year-old Sofronia slept soundly, her little head of blonde curls resting on Sidda's shoulder.
Sidda took a cautious step forward, and than another. This wasn't wizarding London – or muggle London, for that matter. There was nothing familiar in it. A memory rose unbidden of another place – the Crystal Lake? A place she'd lived years ago. A place that shouldn't have existed, that seemed like a dream. But there had been a great lake there, and rolling green hills, not this…
As Sidda's head turned to take in her surroundings fully, she gasped in shock, then swore under her breath. Before her eyes was an immense window, and beyond that? It looked almost exactly as Sidda would have imagined the far reaches of outer space. Standing transfixed, she stared at it, her mind racing to try to make sense of this.
