Who: Everyone welcome!
What: The first Sunday magic classes
Where: Big open courtyard space on wheel 1
When: Sunday morning
The village magical circle was Kordalan tradition, but despite what she had said, it wasn't one that Katarin had much personal experience of. She'd been raised a Tavehi, behind palace walls, and while the war had changed all that, it hadn't left much time for traditional ceremonies, either. So this was a blend of what she had read, and what she had been told, and what she thought might work well for a group this size, none of whom were Kordalan. Katarin was, at least, good at organising things. The circle had been drawn out, in glowing concentric lines, with a break in one side where the speakers might stand. All traces of snow had been swept clear, and there were cushions and blankets dotted about for the comfort of those who weren't used to sitting on the ground.
Katarin began by introducing herself and her intentions. She suspected some of her audience would think her too young for such an undertaking, but the way to change their minds was simply to prove them wrong. It was important part of her faith, and of her place in life, to do things for the community, and these people were her community now. She gave a short demonstration of elemental manipulation, shaping candle flames into tiny dancing men, and calling down the wind to rush over the assembled company, but leave the little fires untouched. Today wasn't about her magic, though. It was a day for prophecy.
Bruno Madrigal was next to speak, and after him Katarin brought forth baskets full of food – hot vegetable soup, wrapped snacks and sandwiches from around the station, fruit and cakes, spiced tea and bread and sweet Kordalan wine. Once everyone had eaten their fill, it was time for Dan and Abra to talk about their Shine.
Afterwards, some people stayed, talking in small groups, and Katarin tried to speak to anyone she hadn't yet been able to.
OOC: Everyone's welcome, including children and non-magical people. List your characters in the OOC section and tell us what they did/thought of it, and/or start IC threads with some kind of timing indication – before it starts? Lunchtime? During a talk? Afterwards? If you want Katarin (or Adrian, Prudence, Isabela, Hannah, James, Arcturus or Sirius) to tag in let me know or put their name in your header! Otherwise I'll grab any unanswered openers with random people at some point :)
